Down 119lbs and counting! 7 months post op
Sassygirl06 replied to Nicole Chavez's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Absolutely fabulous! The look on your face says it all! Keep up the great work...I have no doubt you will achieve all your weight loss goals very soon! -
Yes, proton pump inhibitor....basically a med that shuts off your acid pumps. The acid in your sleeve can cause you to feel hungry. When they are shut off your stomach calms down and you lose some of that hunger.

Yes I had popcorn by 3 months out. It is a slider for me. I can keep eating and eating it, so be careful not to over indulge!

is it possible?

Wow! 27 pounds in less then a month! Do you realize how incredible that is? You should be thrilled! Keep up the great work! -
getting a little nervous
Sassygirl06 replied to finehomes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to stay calm. You aren't going into this lightly. You have been prepping for this for a while, and now you are finally here. It is normal to get the jitters prior to anything major like this. You will do great, and you are making the best choice for your health, and for your future! Good luck! You will do great! -
Is it close to your Tom? I always would put on a little water weight prior to my Tom. Then after I would have it I would drop all of that weight plus an additional 5-10 pounds! I came to look forward to my Tom! Lol I guarantee that those pounds aren't real...that it is just fluid retention. good luck!

Are you taking a ppi? I know once I started with a good ppi the hunger went away. It is normal to stop losing around the three week mark and to not lose for a few weeks while your body adjusts. I didn't lose any weight my second month out at all. Then I lost 9 pounds my third...and pretty much lost between 8-10 pounds a month for the next 6 months. I know it seems like forever when you are in the middle of it, but once you get to the end you can't believe you are there already! just stay positive! Good luck!

Tummy tuck before and after photos
Sassygirl06 replied to Sassygirl06's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yes, I will. I remember when I was first starting this whole thing and I wanted as much info as possible, and I wanted to hear from people about their sleeves, and tummy tucks, and everything. I figure it's my turn to help out those who are just starting out on their journey...to let them know that yes, it is possible to achieve your goals in weight loss, and be happy in your own skin again! I am just so thrilled right now, even with the pain...I am on cloud nine! -
Tummy tuck before and after photos
Sassygirl06 replied to Sassygirl06's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Not gonna lie...it hurts pretty bad. It's much more pain then the sleeve. I had to ask the doc for better pain meds because norco wasn't cutting it! He gave me Percocet and it has been helping me a lot more. It is pretty easy to move around once you are standing, but getting up and down hurts bad! They want you to walk around like the hunchback. With all of that being said....I would do it all over again! So worth every bit of pain! -
Alcohol and Sleevers
Sassygirl06 replied to akusah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am two years post op. I will be very honest here. For a while (about 6 months)...I was drinking a lot. It was easy for me to drink away my feelings. I was addicted to food. It was involved in everything I did. When I woke up in the morning I thought about food, when I was eating my breakfast I was wondering what was going to be for lunch....and so on. With the sleeve I was no longer able to eat away my feelings, but a few shots could fit easily, and it numbed me. I was partying a lot. When my oldest daughter said something to me about my drinking to much it hit me hard. I realized that I needed to get myself in check. So I started addressing it in therapy. I am one of the lucky ones who saw there was a potential for an addiction, and so I did something about it. So yes, it is very easy for sleevers to get a cross over addiction. I caution all sleevers to take this very seriously. Drinking on special occasions can be done, but I highly recommend being very careful not to indulge past that. Good luck! -

I had my tummy tuck on 9/10. I have been in a lot of pain, but not to unbearable. This surgery is much harder of a recovery then the sleeve was, by far! It will be so worth it in the end though!

Plastics Newbie Here!
Sassygirl06 replied to EmilyIsSleeved's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would think that as well if he didn't give me a discount for scheduling both procedures. The extra money went to the surgery center, and not to the doctor. As for the statistics I did my research very well and did not chose hastily when it came to my health. When he gave me the different sites to prove those statistics it put my mind at ease that I was choosing a doctor that cared more about my health then anything else. -
1.5yrs post op-need help
Sassygirl06 replied to Leederz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need an extra 500 calories a day to maintain your breast milk supply. It sounds like you are on the right track to getting back down to pre pregnancy weight...you are only 25 pounds away....that is not bad at all! I would enjoy this time period where you are able to eat those extra calories, but make those calories healthy ones for extra potent, rich milk. Once you decide that you are going to wean, I would slowly start reducing your calorie intake every 2-3 days, until you get back to your sleeve calorie range. Good luck to you! And congrats on the new baby! -
I have had waiting staff offer the meal for free because they think it was bad, or I didn't like it! I just smile and say I need it to go, and that it was delicious, I just didn't have time to finish. It's not their fault that the resturant industry's are trying to fatten us up!
-
It is hard to watch others eating that much food....I take home the leftovers usually and I have two or three more meals out of it....which makes me feel better about it, less of an impact my pocketbook

That pesky 3 week stall strikes again! Measure, measure, measure! Drop kick that stupid scale! It does nothing but wreak havoc on your brain! Easier said then done...but "just do it!" Hehe
-
It's normal, if there is such a thing!? Everyone is going to be different at different stages, as everyone heals differently, and although doctors may be able to make the bougie size the same, they don't change the length of the stomach, which in everyone is a different length. If that's what you can eat at this time, then that is what is normal for you. Lol! Good luck!

7 months post op and on a 3 month stall!
Sassygirl06 replied to skinnygirlinside's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had many stalls through this whole process, and yes sometimes for months. Make sure to measure your inches during stalls instead of weighing. Some people are exchanging fat for muscle...and I have said this a lot of times before; while a pound of fat and a pound of muscle still weigh a pound....muscle takes up less volume, and therefore you may weigh the same, or even more....but you are smaller because those pounds are taking up less space...which gives you the reason why it is so important to measure instead of weigh! Good luck to you, and stop stressing about it! Stress also causes us to release hormones which hinder us losing weight. -
Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
Sassygirl06 replied to TvlGrl712's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry that you are suffering right now! I can tell you that when I was at the time you are now I felt the same way. I would cry asking what the heck did I do to myself! I would vomit at least 2 times a day, had a really hard time drinking water, and overall felt crapy. Every day got a little better, and at around 4-5 months I finally really got it down...or the hang of it, and started adjusting to my new way of eating and life. Now at more then 2 years out I feel so wonderful ( well not today because I had a tummy tuck yesterday) but other then that my whole life has changed for the better! I am healthy again! I don't worry every day about being a ticking time bomb. Food no longer controls me! I am soooo thankful that I chose to start living again! I hope that you come out of this a different, better version of you....and I really hope you start to feel better soon! Good luck to you! -

How do you handle attention from the opposite sex now that you've been sleeved and are SUPER HOT?
Sassygirl06 replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Something I have noticed is wearing that big old diamond on your ring finger isn't necessarily a deal breaker for guys! I just celebrated my birthday with friends at a bar, and I was dancing with some girls and this guy came up from behind and started dancing on me....which I don't mind, but then he tried to kiss my neck...which is the 3 rd time this has happened to me since losing all of my weight! I don't understand why some men think that that is ok to do! I turned around, shook my finger at the guy and pointed to my ring...all while being completely intoxicated...which was great because my husband was watching me and that guy, and he got to see that even when I am drunk I only have eyes for him! Good thing I didn't let that guy kiss me! Hehe
