  1. hell to the yeah! i cant wait to find mine again! also to be able to find my ribs again would be nice. (not sticking out but just be able to feel them again would be nice) i had to go to a neurologist back in march and when he was feeling around for certain bones he couldnt palpatate them. in his report it stated, 'unable to acertain due to patients morbid obesity" that totally sucked! cant wait till i can be acertained again...lol

    When to buy new clothes

now! it feels so good to go into the dressing room and fit all the clothes, or better need smaller sizes! if you are on a tight budget then go to the thrift stores. sometimes they have stuff with the price tags still on. i found a going out of business fashion bug and was able to buy 50-60 dollar pairs of jeans for 6 dollars a pair so not only did i buy stuff that fits now, but i bought several smaller sizes for later. i just couldnt pass it up! plus seeing those jeans in my closet just waiting to fit keeps me motivated. you might also try to find a wls support group near you because they sometimes do a clothing exchange. i have kinda started my own here and am giving my bigger clothes to a couple of ladies that are right behind me in their weight loss journeys. it feels good to help them, and it feels great to be able to get rid of clothes that no longer fit me because they are TOO BIG!!!! woo-hoo!
  3. i'll be 5 weeks out on tuesday. i dont really count calories at all. if i had to put a number on it i would say about 600 to 800 a day. i have great energy level on that. i make sure to take my vitamins every day, i actually take double because i know that i am not consuming enough. my weight loss has been steady so it must be working. i have lost more then 25 pounds since surgery. i walk 2 miles 3 times a week and do the wii fit once a day. im loving the sleeve because i dont constantly think of food anymore like i used to. i was truely addicted to food. the sleeve has been such a blessing to me.
  4. had surgery 4 1/2 weeks ago. i didnt have gall stones when i had the surgery. after dinner tonight im having severe sharp pains in my upper right hand quadrent. stabbing with no radiation to shoulders. just wandering if this is normal. please chime in if you have had gall bladder issues after the surgery. what did it feel like to you. thank you.

    is it gallbladder pain?

thank you guys. i threw up 2 times last night outta nowhere and then i felt better. im guessing that if it is gallbladder the pain wouldnt have gone away so fast. now im worried about gout though. my uric acid levels are high and until now i have been without signs, but now my big toe started hurting outta nowhere. its stiff, and tender to the touch. i have a doctors appointment on monday and gonna tell him about all the problems. hopefully its not gallbladder or gout. until now i have had no complications. i would like to keep it that way
  6. i agree with forensichic, you have to live with it not him. the whole point of the surgery is to get healthy, not lose weight. malabsorption is not healthy in any way. gastric bypass is just starving your body of the prescious vitamins and minerals that you need so that you can get skinny. plus if you see people that have had it, take a good look at them, they have a grey look about them and all of their skin hangs off of them. i would rather lose enough weight to be healthy then lose all of the weight and be sickly. best wishes to you.
  7. are you making sure to take your medications with some food? some meds can irritate the lining of your stomach, and especially the sleeved one. try to make sure you have something in there when you take meds hope you feel better!

    HAVE TO LOSE TEN POUNDS

i lost a bunch pre op from slim fast. i would have one for breakfast, then a 100 cal snack, then one for lunch and then another 100 cal snack....then i would have a dinner that was under 500 cal's....then another 100 cal snack. i lost 27 pounds in 2 months, and more than 45 pounds total before surgery. i was also exercising everyday for 30 minutes on the wii, and then 3 times a week walking 2 miles at a time. good luck to you.

    I guess I'm at a stall

just try getting in the fluids! you'l be ok. your body is in shock, and replacing all of your fat stores with water. when it realizes that you arent starving it will start to drop. fear not. you will get there.
  14. they dont want you to fail. im sure the results are fine. they are really looking for people that wouldnt be compliant with a diet and who have an untreated mental illness. im sure it will be fine! keep us posted!

thank yo! that is super sweet! just keep jumping through those hoops, it is totally worth it in the end! its hard to see it when you are losing the weight, i guess it just doesnt register in your head right or something. that is why i am making sure to take so many pictures along the way. when i look at the old ones and the new ones it helps click it in my head that hell yeah i lost weight! you will get there too....just keep pluggen away. hope both of you get what you need in this journey and yes....i do feel great!

    wine, cup of coffee

im 4 weeks out and i had some wine at 3 weeks. i also had some tequilla. i didnt want to but i was over at my skinny sisters house who doesnt know about the surgery and i didnt want her to suspect anything. (she made a very mean comment to me this summer, goes like this, "i may be older then you but at least im skinny and hot." it hurt really bad and i decided not to let her in on my wls. anyhow while i was over at her house she poured us all shots and i just did it. it didnt hurt at all, however i used to be able to drink with the best of them, and i was %@#&-faced after one shot! also it only takes one glass of wine to put me tippsy. i guess im a cheap date now as for it impeading my weight loss, i have already lost 25 pounds since surgery and 71 pounds total. im doing everything right as far as eating, so im not to worried about it. it think you should test it out a little at a time to make sure it doesnt hurt.....and of course only drink for special occations as you dont want a new addiction, or to mess up your weight loss i think the whole point is to enjoy our lives to the fullest. thats what i plan on doing
  18. im looking forward to shoping for all the cute clothes, also fitting all the rides in the amusement parks, being checked out buy guys, dancing without fear of being laughed at, and feeling like i belong with my family when we go out (they are all skinny).

    awake during intubation

just let the doc now your fears...they give you stuff to relax you prior to everything. they will give you more if you have anxiety. i dont even remember them giving me the stuff to knock me out. i just woke up done. i was really terrified of being intubated too! i dont remember it though. good luck to you...you have come this far. dont let this ruin it. just open up to the doc about your fear.

4 weeks post op pictures :)

thank you everybody! it really feels great to lose all the excess fat. i think im gonna put 70 pounds in my backpack and carry it around on my walk once to put things in perspective. its hard to see it when you are in the middle of losing weight.

please tell me it will go away

yep...totally normal. 4 weeks post op now and i can drink like almost normal again. i was a gulper prior to surgery so that was hard to adjust to. but now i can drink pretty much normally. i freeze my water and drin from the bottle as it thaws to help me remember to slow down. no pain anymore unless i drink to much at once. then it just makes me have to burp if i do it to fast. the soar throat is because of the tube they put in your throat during surgery. totally normal and will go away very soon. you will get past it and will rejoice in your choice soon enough. just be patient!

    Having Major Second Thoughts

im 4 weeks post op and havent had a shake in 2 weeks. my doc didnt want me to get my protein from shakes. havent had any problem eating whatever i want, just a whole lot less, and a whole lot more time chewing and eating. do research! then chose what is best for you. i would do it all over again tomarrow!
