  1. i found out about the sleeve on may 22nd at a seminar for the lap band. i decided to have it as soon as i heard about it. i did my research, but i knew i wanted it right away. i got approved for surgery the end of july and i got my sleeve on august 16th. so happy i did too!
  2. Ok everyone. Today is Thanksgiving day. For me I can honestly say that today will be the first Thanksgiving of my life where I wont be concentrating on all of the food. Instead I will be visiting with my family, catching up with them, and truely paying attention to them instead of my mind wandering about food. Before the sleeve I was obsessed with food, what I was going to eat next, when I was going to eat next, how I would sneek away to eat so no one would know. I am so thankful this Thansgiving for my sleeve! It has truely freed me from myself! HAPPY THANKSGIVING fello sleevers!!!!!
  3. it took me until about 2 months out to feel completely better, as well as to get used to the new tummy, and how fast i can eat, as well as how much. ive got it down now and i dont get sick anymore. every once in a while i will get the case of the burps where it feels like i have air trapped in under the food without enough room for it to get around and that sucks....not really painfull just annoying, but even that has gotten better. it really does get better! keep your chin up! good luck to you

    I Hate My Gastric Sleeve

that really sucks! i hope you get to feeling better! there are alot of us that go through this time where you say what the heck did i do to myself. I think i felt this way between week 3 to week 9. i thought.....oh my god, i have ruined myself...and i will never feel normal again. now that i have healed all the way i am able to eat more, and feel good about it not sick. i am able to drink normally again, and that makes all the difference, i hope it gets better fast!
  5. i felt like that at first.....on several occations i just felt like, whats the point? i didnt like eating. but now i feel much better about food. i can get in about 1/4 to 1/2 of a cup of food at a time and i feel satisfied now, and not in pain. it will get better! good luck
  6. got botox last monday and it is really kicking in now. i havent been frowning anymore and cant wrinkle my forhead! love it. i wish i had more restriction for my crows feet, but they final results wont show till up to 14 days and i am just now on day 7....so will keep hoping for better crows feet. :)

    Something To Be Thankful For

    such wonderful comments
  9. just curious if anyone has reached their goal weight without the low or no carb plan? i make sure to eat protein first but i am finding it really hard to avoid all carbs. i dont want to sabatoge myself from losing weight, and i have been losing very slowly. i am currently in another stall and i have read all sorts of different views on how to kick start weight loss again such as; uping carbs, uping calories, and even going no carbs at all. when i get into a stall all sorts of things go through my head about how i am not going to lose at all anymore and such. i really want to be under 200 pounds by christmas but i just dont see that happening now with just a month left to go. when you go into a stall what are some of the things that you more expierenced sleevers do to get that scale moving again? on a side note, i have developed gout recently, not related to the sleeve, but i have it now. both my father and my grandfather have it so it runs in my family. kinda sucks not being able to eat rich foods like salmon and bacon and red meat. i love all of those things equally. my body doesnt though. i can always tell the next day if i had to many purines in my food because my hands ache and i get sharp pains in my feet. (really sucks) advise please!
  10. thank you for the advise about gout. i am not on any medication for it right now. I know i dont have it as bad as most people because i just get stiff in the fingers and sometimes some sharp pains in my foot. I have read that some patients cant even stand a blanket on top of the affected area. i am no where near that amount of pain. I will talk with the doc about the med. I do notice that if I just avoid the red meat I dont have any problems. Since we are supposed to avoid red meat anyways that isnt so hard, plus I love chicken and fish so that is a plus. I am surpized at all of the posts that this has received! I guess there are alot of people on here that are just like me and gotta have those carbs. I have noticed that if I dont have any carbs I am a couch potatoe and cant do anything, and that cant be good for burning the calories, so what would be the point of low carbing if I dont exercise because I am to tired. You all are wonderful! Thank you guys for the wonderful input! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

    3 Months On... Scars Healing

i have my picts of my scars on my profile. you have to friend me to see them. i havent been putting anything on them so far. they are healing very well i think.
  15. you wont lose every time. this definately sounds like the 3 week stall. everyone goes through stalls. i am in one now. just posted about it and how i was feeling nervous about it. that is what is so great about having this place to vent and to get support. youll get through it!
  16. if your pre approved at the previous weight that is what they go by. they dont even weigh you before surgery....well they didnt me. they went off of my pre op weight which was a week before surgery. good luck

    Post-op Drain Tube

it is interesting how different the surgerys and surgeons can be. i didnt even have a drain. the doc wasnt even going to give me a leak test after the surgery but i requested one because i wanted to be certain there were no leaks because i live a good 3 hours away from the hospital. the doc kept me 2 days because of the distance and gave me the leak test apon request. no leak, and no complications. the big plus is that i only have four incision sites. 2 of them are only 1 mm, and 2 of them are 4 mm. they used steri strips to close so barely any scars left now. i feel really lucky! good luck to you on your upcoming surgery!

    Omg! Yay!

    isnt it fun clothes shopping!
  20. i love all of the advice. it is so wonderful to know that we can do this in all different ways. i just know i would fail miserabaly if i tried to avoid all carbs. i had a really nice potato the other night with sour cream and butter. that was so delicious! it was small and it filled me up and made me satisfied. i even ate the skin it tasted so good. i think i needed the iron badly because i just donated blood on friday and i felt no energy since. i the potato definatly helped. i also lost 2 pounds since then....only one of them was blood...haha
  21. at june13--- that is what i am doing. just worried that it wont work for me. i know i am eating 1/4 of the amount i used to. i am exercising too....just not as much as i know i should be. i was more dedicated in the begining. i need to get motivated.
  22. thank you everyone for your posts. i really appriciate all of the comments. it is so hard for my brain to wrap around the idea of me losing weight. i constantly think without reason that i am not ever going to be thin again. i just need to be patient and work at it and it will come off. thank you everyone again!
  23. i am married. been married my whole adult life so no fun dating stories here. i couldnt imagine getting naked in front of anyone at this point. i hate getting naked in front of my hubby let alone a stranger. so in a way i am invious of the ones that get to try out dating as a thinner person, and in another way i am soooo thankful that i dont have to. be careful out there. there are some real sickos....i should know i work at a hospital for the criminally insane
  24. i have said this again and again, so if anybody is re-reading this again sorry. get a medicine cup from the pharmacy. keep a water bottle next to you as well as the medicine cup. fill the medicine cup up and sip it for 30 minutes, repeat...every 30 minutes. if you do this all day long you will have reached 64 oz of water by the end of the day. when you can finally tolerate cold water then you can freeze a water bottle till it is solid. as the ice melts in the bottle drink it. the point is to drink small amounts all day long to get to your goal. if you dont manage to get to it, try to get close. good luck to you. and congrats for joining the losers bench!
