46lbs Down And They Didn't Notice?
Sassygirl06 replied to his2my2our4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alot of people are affraid to say anything because of the yo-yo affect. mabye they dont want to pressure you about your weight loss. Im sure they noticed but know that your weight is a sensitive subject and are just waiting to say something until they know its a perminant thing. dont fret about it. you are doing great and soon everybody will be noticing. -
the insurance company goes off of the weight at the first appointment. you are required to lose some weight prior to surgery. I wouldnt lose any weight until you have that first appointment though. good luck to you

Do People Treat You Different After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Sassygirl06 replied to 2bfit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I already chimed in about this but I had 2 things happen today that I had to add. 1) my hubby has a guy that he has worked with for years. he has only known me as the fat wife. I just saw him last week and he told my hubby last night that I look like a different person....and I have turned into a MILF! haha! that is soooo funny to me. 2) my kids train in martial arts and there is this dad that takes his daughter to the same class as my kids go. He said to me today that he didnt recognize me with my new hair cut and that he almost asked me out I was looking so good. I was so embarresed! but it still felt good! -

Do People Treat You Different After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Sassygirl06 replied to 2bfit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im a little over half way to goal, and yes I have noticed that people are treating me differently. My hubby is one of the people. He is being way more affectionate and attentive. A couple of my friends have stopped hanging around with me, because I think that before I lost the weight I made them feel skinny, and I was the fat friend. However now I am much smaller then them, and so now they are my fat friends. Men definatly are treating me differently....opening doors, smiling at me, and I have been checked out by some of them. I was shocked to get some head turns my way just recently. It is fun I definatly feel different and I know that I am more confident. It feels so good. I bet it will be so much better when I am at goal too! -
Difference In Pre-post Gastric Sleeve
Sassygirl06 replied to yecats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I was expecting to never be hungry again, and that is not the case for me. I do get hungry and I know that I need to eat, however after I eat about 1/4 cup of food I am stuffed, and very content. So I think it is both ways, because I was expecting to not be able to eat to much, and that is what I wanted and that is what I got. If I were a time traveler and had the option of going back and telling my pre op self whether or not to do the surgery, I would travel back about 5 years ago and tell me to do it then. I am so happy that I am no longer consumed by the thought of food. I was truely addicted to it, and now I can say I am free! good luck! -

How Soon Off Of Ppi's/antacids After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?!
Sassygirl06 replied to mnbsleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I needed a ppi in the begining because I would get heartburn/reflux badly. After about a month and a half I no longer was getting it, so I stopped taking it. Havent had any problems with it since. I am almost 4 months out. -
Starvation Mode--myth Or Reality?
Sassygirl06 replied to 300PoundsDown's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
you definatly need to eat more. the whole object of losing this weight is to be healthy. if you are only eating between 300-500 calories a day you are starving your body, which is not healthy. I would try eating every 2 hours, at least something. Try to think about it like you are providing your body with medicine that it needs to be healthy. Dont make the mistake of going for empty calories either. Make it count! Good luck to you! -

Why Have Gastric Sleeve Surgery In Mexico?
Sassygirl06 replied to CJinMichigan's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I did not go to mexico, however I know that for some people without medical coverage, or with an insurance company that wont cover the procedure it is the only way. The price for the procedure here can range from 15,000 to 60,000 dollars. Most people just cant afford it. Going to mexico the surgery runs anywhere between 5000 and 10,000. They usually include the hotel and hospital fees in that price. So its just a matter of paying for the airline ticket after that. As for substandard care, I have only heard good things about the doctors and hospitals down there. I'm sure there are the bad ones, but do research on all of the doctors that you would consider. there are bad ones here too. the main concern that I would have is the follow up care weeks after the surgery, or if you had complications, if you went to mexico you wouldnt really be able to go back after you were home. there is a self pay forum on this board with a lot of information on going to mexico as a self pay. good luck! -
94 Lbs In 5 Months=not Good Enough Says Nurse..talk Me Off Ledge!
Sassygirl06 replied to 300PoundsDown's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
94 pounds! You lost an entire 10 year old child! seriously! that nurse doesnt know jack. everyone is different. there is no square box that we all can fit into. the basic rule here is if we burn more calories then we eat we are going to continue to lose, it may take more time, but we will get there. you have done terrific! keep it up! -

How Long Was Your Longest Stall?
Sassygirl06 replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same thing happening for me. I will not lose all month and then my TOM will come and I will drop anywhere between 5-10 pounds in that week after it. The longest stall that I have had was 3 weeks. I hate those stalls! I do agree that you need to keep measuring while in a stall because you may be gaining muscle and losing fat...while a pound of fat takes up a whole lot more room then a pound of muscle, so if you are exchanging the muscle for fat then it makes sence that you would not lose weight, but you will lose inches. I so want to get one of those scales that measures your muscle vs fat weight. I wonder how much they cost? anybody have one? -

Sassygirl06 replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i did really watered down cream of wheat that felt good in my sleeve. basically for full liquids if it fits through a straw you should be good. try a whole bunch of things to see what makes you happier. this too shall pass, rather quickly and then you will feel more normal. -
Canceled 3 Hrs Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
Sassygirl06 replied to DisappearingDivis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
look at it as a blessing. now you will be able to celebrate the holidays with your family without being in any pain or not being able to eat with them. hope you didnt have to do a 2 week pre op liquid diet for the surgery! that would truely suck. soon you will be sleeved and it will all be water under the bridge. plus him operating on you while he is sick is not good for you. germs! yuck! good luck to you and getting a new date fast! -

Constipation- Nothings Moving :( Solutions?
Sassygirl06 replied to sirensiren's topic in Food and Nutrition
soy milk or slmond milk. it will get things moving in about 1-2 hours. dont drink more then 1 cup a day, at first or you will be going to much. good luck! -
this was a huge deal for me. i didnt realize pre op how hard it was going to be just to drink water. for the first month i could hardly drink water at all, and when i tried it had to be room temp because cold was to harsh on my tummy. i am so happy to report that now i can drink normally. i dont gulp, but i am definatly able to drink like a normal person and quinch my thirst. good luck!

Sassygirl06 replied to Ready2BDone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you poor thing! I hope you get you approval as soon as possible. im sorry it has been so ruff! I remember feeling the same way. you look really young, so you will have really good results from the surgery, and will feel like you are starting your whole life from scratch. the only regret I have is not doing this sooner. hope you feel better. keep your chin up!
