  1. first, about the blood pressure...there is a thing called orthostatic hypotension, big name for when you stand up from sitting or laying down your blood pressure drops....this is what is causing the dizzyness.....it is common to have this symptom after major weight loss....what to do for it is to get up really slowly from a sitting position....and from a lying position it is good to dangle your feet from your bed for a few seconds and then rise up slowly. as for your heart rate... it changes all day long, with exercise and with breathing. you already had a low pulse and bp before surgery so this is not abnormal for you. obviously if the doc or nurses in the hospital were worried about your low pulse then they would have said something then and issued you a medication for it. make sure you are getting in plenty of fluids and electrolytes, as this can lower and increase your bp and pulse. if ever you feel like your heart rate is to low (which I doubt will happen) get up (slowly) and move around a bit. And as always if this continues to be a concern of yours...dont hesitate to go to your doc and talk it over with him or her good luck to you!
  2. i didnt have this but i do have different healing of the scars.....I had 2 right next to eachother....same size and everything...I was noticing that while one is barely visible anymore the other is still bright pink.....wth? I had 5 all total, and the 3 others were very small, and you cant even see those anymore, which i am thankful for, but the one in the very middle, right above my belly button has to be bright pink? it sucks.....oh well, when I have my tummy tuck it will be gone anyways! lol hope yours flattens out!
  3. I wouldnt buy to much of it before your surgery, because you dont know what you are going to like after surgery. I bought a big bag of protein powder from my doc that I tested prior to surgery and loved.....only to have waisted my money on it because after the surgery I cant stand it. I know it sounds silly, but there are some things that I used to eat before surgery that I loved and now dont want anything to do with them because how they make my sleeve react. I would just get some samples from a place like gnc, and test them all out after your surgery and then go from there. good luck!
  4. uhhh....I hate these fricken stalls...they seem to come way more frequently now. :( I am happy at the weight I am now, but I would like to see the scale move down again soon.

    Buying New Clothes

I love garage sales for clothes shopping! It is a good idea to get several sizes. I bought sizes all the way down to a 10 before my surgery, and now I am able to fit those 10's.....it is pretty cool!
  6. my nutritionist and many other doctors have told me that when you are eating actual food that contains protein it is better then shakes or vitamins...supplements and other ways of getting in protein.....not dissing protein shakes, or other forms, just saying it is better for you to receive the stuff from real foods (according to my nut and doctors)....that being said, it does make it easier to get it in when you have a scoop and measure out how much you are getting. I like to make protein pancakes with the stuff.....I add 1 egg to pancake mix, then 1 scoop of whey protein (banana flavor) and 1%milk instead of water....then cook the same as regular pancakes.....I can only fit one small size pancake in at a time, however that one pancake has over 20 grams of protein.

    3 1/2 Years After Wls

thank you for letting us know how someone is doing a few years out now. I am always worried that I am going to screw this up somehow. I have been exercising a lot since my sleeve....and it feels wonderful to get out of the house and move. it is really motivating to hear from people like you thanks
  8. i could barely fit an egg in at that time, however my doc said that he can only change the width of the sleeve, not the length.....so, everyone is going to be able to fit a different amount. eggs are deffinatly a great sourse of protein, and it is real protein instead of the fake shake stuff...good luck
  9. I used to think this before the surgery. I know that the time you are having is rough...deciding whether or not to have surgery....I will just say that the only regert of having this surgery that I have is not doing it sooner. good luck!

    Arms

my arms are flabby, but not as bad as I expected....I work out with kickboxing to help, there is a lot of punching bags and push ups to tone the arms. I had someone complement my legs today, I was wearing a mini skirt! she was a skinny woman, and she asked me what I did to have such great legs...haha Just exercise anyway you feel you are up to. I love getting muscles where there used to be fat, it definatly helps make the loose skin not look so bad when you have muscles peeking through
  11. I went to victorias secret and got measured, they actually have bras for bigger gals, they just keep them in back instead of out on the racks. Lane Bryant also measures for the correct size, both places are really pricy, but I have noticed that they dont wear out or strech as fast as the cheap ones. I paid 50 bucks at victorias secret for a bra, but I love it so much, and it keeps the girls perky too. so to me it was totally worth every penny!

    Crazy Bad Pain

I would call the doc as well....it may not be your gall bladder, could be that your ppi is not working well enough for you. tomatoes are highly acidic, and you could have agrivated your tummy with it, and it hasnt forgiven you yet sorry you are having this pain......but I had this happen too, the spasams and the pain all the way up until 2 months post op....the happy thing is that it does go away when you are further out....but you cant be to careful...call the doc, that is what they are there for. hope you feel better soon....until you talk to the doc I would try eating room temp bland food, and make sure to take the ppi's religiously.....good luck, and well wishes!
  13. if your boobs are more tissue then fat then this is normal. you wont lose tissue. I have the same thing going on. I was a 44 dd, and now after losing 118 I am a 38dd. I am soooo happy that the girls havent gone away, but I will still need a lift and I will probably add a little implant too once I get to goal cause when they take away the skin my boobs will definatly be smaller. I want to stay at least a d cup. I plan on getting a tummy tuck too I only have about another 35 pounds to lose before I get it because some of my weight i need to lose is extra skin in the tummy and boobs. I am really fortunate to be getting some back pay of $30,000+ that my job owes me here in a few months so I am hoping that I will be at goal by then so I can spend that money on my body! I have such a possitive outlook on life now knowing that I am so close to what I have desired for more then 16 years! Be happy your not losing your girls, there are so many women that say that those are the first to go for them. I know my doc told me mine was going to disapear...hehe lucky me he was wrong! sorry this is so long....just cant contain my joy!!! the sleeve is a beautiful thing!

    Pizza, Popcorn, Brownies

it is very hard to avoid all of the foods that are "bad". the more that you say you "cant have" this or that the more you want that item. I was able to eat popcorn at about 2 months, and could eat about 1/2 slice of pizza about that time too, or if I just scraped off the top of the whole slice and eat that. as for brownies....they smell so great, and look so delicious, but still at 8 months out if I eat them I feel like crap...the sleeve doesnt like those sweets at all. my tummy starts talking to me and then I feel like throwing up. if I want something I try a little bit to test the waters so to speak. I didnt do this to be on a diet for the rest of my life...i did it to be able to restrict what I eat so I can be healthy. I have been losing steadily and I feel at 8 months that I have lost more then I had expected to. I lost the same amount of weight that my 17 year old daughter weighs....I flippen lost a person! hehe So basically my personal opinion is listen to your sleeve....it will tell you if you should have it or not of course not until your doc clears you for a normal diet

    Overcoming The Addiction

Food is the most difficult addiction there is. Nobody that is addicted to drugs is supposed to have a little bit of whatever they are addicted to everyday to be healthy. We have to have food every day. It is a work in progress for me. I am able to say no a lot easier then I was before, but it is still a struggle not to turn to the bad things that i did to before when things happen. I have been really tested this past week, and I have been able to say no still....so yay! good luck...and congrats on your upcoming life saving event!

    Help

I dont really cook much, but I find putting my crockpot on the counter in the morning and filling it with some meat, along with water and a packet of italian seasoning is really easy, and it tastes great. takes me literally 2 minutes to do, and the meat can be frozen, so no need to thaw. you can also use the ranch seasoning, or just plain lawrys seasoning. I ususally just do chicken or pork.....but you could do ribs and by the time you get home they are done, and soooo tender it is really easy on the sleeve. hope this helps good luck!!!

    How Much Can You Eat?

it depends on what I am eating. if it is meat, then I will be full after a couple of bites...if it is yogurt or that kind of food then I can eat about 1/2 cup.
