I Want To Cry For Her
Sassygirl06 replied to Sassygirl06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so lucky that when I went in for the lap band seminar the doctor told me about the vsg....because before the seminar I was dead set on the lap band. I also respect those woman that are comfortable at whatever size they are. Unfortunatly I was not one of those woman. I really felt horrible about myself. I once went on a trip to mexico with my husband and he wanted to go horse back riding. I was so worried that the horse was going to collapse right under me, with all his legs going outward...it didnt, we took a picture together. when I got home I showed the picture to one of my co-workers...he started laughing, then he said, "oh my gosh it looks like the horses eyes are gonna pop out." He truely thought he was being funny. I went into the bathroom and cried for almost an hour. The way that man obviously felt about a woman who was overweight was how I felt everyone was really thinking about me all the time. There was never a time that I was not worried about someone judging me because of my weight. I am so thankful to not worry about it all the time anymore. I still have the fat womans brain, so every now and then I have those old feelings pop up out of no where, but then I realize that I am not morbidly obese anymore, and people dont see the old me anymore. I truely feel like I can do whatever I want now without people looking at me like I am out of place. It is truely freeing. Good luck to you on your journey! -
Food Has Not Been An Issue
Sassygirl06 replied to CraftyV's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all do. Our brains didnt get changed...just our tummys. I make sure not to say that I CANT ever have the tempting foods. If I want it then I will have it, just about 1/4 of the amount I used to eat, and then I make sure that I watch what I have for the rest of the day. I had a very tiny piece of chocolate cake last week, and after about 2 bites my craving was eased and I threw the rest away.....yup thats right...I threw it away! lol the more we say we cant have it the more we want it. just use moderation....good luck! -
I was barely able to get anything down the first week. I buy the pure protein shots at wallmart for about 8 bucks for 6 of them. they have 27 grams of protein a shot. I hate the taste of them, but it is small enough that I can get them down in one gulp and then I dont really worry about the rest of the day because I make sure to eat protein first. you wont be able to drink it in one gulp till you are about 3 months out at least though, otherwise it will hurt, and probably come back up right away. good luck!

Considering All My Options: Mexico Vs. Us
Sassygirl06 replied to WLJourneyJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
all I know is the US side. I will say that after I was released from the hospital after 2 days I never went back to the surgeon again. (im so bad) I have had follow up labs with my primary doc though. so as far as after care--I didnt need any. good luck! -
And My Pants Started To Fall Off...
Sassygirl06 replied to hadouni's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my shorts fall completely down on me when I got out of the truck a few months ago, thankfully I was in my own driveway and the only people that saw were my kids. I think it scarred my poor son though! lol -

Sassygirl06 replied to brandymarie81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Post-Op Care/assistance From Family...
Sassygirl06 replied to MrzSongbird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed in the hospital for 2 days, after that I didnt drive until I was off the pain meds which was in about 4 days. my hubby didnt have to take care of me though....other then drive me places. I was able to take care of everything else. my kids were 8,12, and 16 at the time, so they were a little older then yours. good luck! -
my feet are definatly smaller. I was a 11 in womans and now I can fit anywhere between a 9.5 to a 10.5....so I am happy, even though they are still big for a woman.

Finally Feeling Better.
Sassygirl06 replied to CraftyV's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
some incisions are higher then others...mine were all in the upper area too. I was able to wear jeans right out too. everyone is right in saying that everyday gets better and better. I felt like the weight came off of my face the fastest too, which I loved. congrats on getting sleeved! -
such a wonderful feeling! congrats on getting there so fast! keep up the great work!
-
I like going to kohls and buying off their 60-80% off racks...some things as little as 2-3$. love the goodwill too! it is such a nice feeling to buy from the normal section instead of the plus size rack....they actually have more then one rack in the normal section! if you do spend the money to get yourself clothes that actually fit, in my opinion....it is a motivator because you feel better about yourself, and want to work ven harder to get to goal! good luck everyone! work those sleeves!!!

the vsg has been around for a very long time....it is only now that it has become more popular.

wow, thank you for sharing. it just goes to show us that this surgery isnt a majic wand. we all have to work at this and stay on track if we want it to work. I wish you the best in this new journey!

well, I dont go by any amount of messuring....I eat what my sleeve tells me to. I would just take it slow while eating it and stop when you are content. Everyones sleeve is different and fits a different amount of food. the surgeons are only able to change the width of our sleeves, not the length.....some people have long stomachs and some have short, that is why everyone can handle different amounts of food....as well as the bougie size that the doc used in the surgery. just eat what feels right good luck!

We all have been there. You hit a stall and it lasts so long that you start to believe that your weight loss is done. I know all about stalls...I know everyone gets them, but regardless I still get those little demons creeping up in my mind saying...you arent going to lose anymore weight, you are a failure. This last stall was a duzzy. I had been the same weight plus or minus 2 pounds for almost 3 months. I started to believe that I had let myself down, and started feeling depressed, thinking what was the point? I started eating crap that I knew was bad for me believing that why should I even try to eat right if it isnt going to work anyways. Well just when I was about to give up completely my scale did something amazing.... I lost 5 pounds in a week! Thinking it was just a fluke I got back on the scale the next day and wouldnt you guess it...no I wouldnt have, but I lost another pound! Then a few days later I rechecked to see if I gained any back...and bamb! I lost another two pounds! I lost 8 pounds in a matter of 9 days I just wanted to give a little inspiration to those of you that are in one of those dreaded stalls....just keep positive...keep working that sleeve, and your body will do the rest! keep smiling!

3.5 Weeks Out And Still Having Pain........ :0/
Sassygirl06 replied to dsleon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you have internal stiches too that take time to heal (even longer then the external) it is totally normal to feel like it is tight in that area. if you have any redness or heat (or fluid) then go to doc asap. -
just count your blessings that you are having a great recovery!

my weight went back up with my tom, not all the way but I put back on 6 pounds. Then after my tom it went back down to 187....now a few days later I have gone back to 185.5.....so I am still thrilled that it is moving, even if it is at a slow pace. -
