Anyone thinking about their mortality?
Sassygirl06 replied to ISleevedIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did the surgery because I felt like I was going to die. I found myself buying life insurance instead of getting healthy. That was my ah-ha moment. -
Are you sure no catheter was used.....they sometimes put it in after you're out, and remove it before you wake. Especially with guys since it hurts them a little more....got to go a bit further down the tube so to speak. I had to give a poor old man a catheter one time that had a bad rash from peeing on himself and the poor guy was in so much pain we had to hold him down to keep putting it in. Thought I would never get it in all the way. As for the incisions, and snipping, I am positive they were no where near your beloved parts. The problem with feeling them may also stem from your blood pressure. It may be a little lower now and you may need some time to recover in that department. There are meds to help, but I'm pretty sure in a few days to weeks you won't need anything to help in that department anymore. Good luck, and just make sure to communicate with your doc!

A few questions you've probably heard before
Sassygirl06 replied to wonderinginva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1) yes you can eat small amounts without the surgery, but you will still be hungry..and be tempted. 2) I used John Garcia in Bakersfield ca, my insurance covered it all but $45. 3) my only regret is not doing it sooner. Good luck! -

You can add a ticker from your profile page. As far as adding Picts....you can copy them and paste to your posts. Pretty easy. -
Oh,no! I'm 517 pounds.....
Sassygirl06 replied to gmanbat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love this! I am constantly saying to people...stop weighing yourself! Go by your clothes and inches. I started in a size 24-26....now I'm a 7-11....don't need a scale to tell me I lost weight. I only weigh once a month...keeps me from going crazy! Lol -
2 weeks post op and I want my stomach back!
Sassygirl06 replied to Butterflyjdjl's topic in Rants & Raves
Classic case of buyers remorse...it sucks that you are going through this, but your weight fluctuates by as much as five pounds in one day, due to fluids, hormones and other things. I promise you the four pound gain that you are seeing isnt truly a gain of fat. As far as wanting your stomach back....I have been there, pretty much for the first 3 months after surgery I was so mad at myself for having it done. I am now a year and a half out, and I couldn't be happier! You will be fine...you will lose weight, and soon you will be loving the new sleeve, and you! -
I eat 6 times a day. Very small amounts, but I need to stretch it out. Try eating smaller amounts more frequently. Good luck!

Is nausea and vomiting common?
Sassygirl06 replied to asweetypi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me about 6 months to get used to how to eat and drink again. This is all new. You will get the hang of it. -
Soooooo excited! Couldn't come soon enough!
Sassygirl06 replied to Blessedsusan69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I chose the sleeve because there is no malabsorption. I couldn't be happier with my choice! -
Those nerves are no where near where they did any snipping. I think it probably has to do with the catheter. Maybe an infection and inflammation is causing loss of feeling. I'm sure that it will resolve itself soon, but it is a good idea to address this issue with your surgeon. Good luck!

Anyone have Addison's Diseae after VSG?
Sassygirl06 replied to Thinner Peace's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't heard of this being a possible side effect to vsg, however if you already have Addison's then it very well could be something that could prevent you from receiving vsg. Hopefully this was just a question and not a reality for you. Good luck! -
Losing weight or losing inches? Which is better in your opinion?
Sassygirl06 replied to does not matter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally like to lose inches because sometimes you are exchanging fat for muscle so the scale can lie to you at times. About the weight gain, I always put on a few pounds before my period due to fluid retention...just always keep that in mind. Good luck! -
I would just state that I understand that they do not understand the reasoning behind having surgery, and that is fine...however they can still be supportive of your decision and know that you have researched, and decided that it is the best choice for you.

Post-op questions
Sassygirl06 replied to paleal1107's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 18 pounds the first month, then about 4 pounds the second, and after that I lost 9 pounds every month till around 9 months post op...after that it was weird...some months I would lose 12 pounds and others I wouldn't lose any. Everyone is different though. Good luck! -

Sassygirl06 replied to ISleevedIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never did, but I did have a card in my wallet that said the same thing, which they check usually in emergency s. -
You are in the normal stall. You will come out of it. Stop weighing in for now.

Surgeon Recommends Gastric Bypass Instead of Sleeve
Sassygirl06 replied to GSFan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't want the bypass because of the malabsorption. I did this to be healthier. There is nothing healthy about starving yourself to skinny and that is what the bypass does. I know that I am now a year and a half out and I don't have to take all these vitamins and minerals and other pills to be healthy. I have my blood work done every 6 months, and my stats have never been better! I would defiantly get another opinion, but it doesn't matter what he recommends, if you say you want the sleeve, and stick to your guns that's what he will give you. Good luck! -
15 weeks post op and stalled 5 weeks w/pics
Sassygirl06 replied to bandalyons83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You lost 60 pounds! That is something to celebrate right there! All I can say is work your way up to more exercise. Eat more protein and less crap. Lol....you know how to do it, now use that tool! As far as losing faster....I took a little longer then most to lose....and I still have 20 to go, but because I lost slowly I don't have extra skin problems. My arms and thighs look great. The only place that I have extra skin is my tummy, and that's because I have 3 babies and they stretched me out. Take your time, let your body adjust. Good luck to you! -
