Anyone lose the weight post baby

I have not had to worry about this as I am done with the baby thing....however the restriction does not go away because you are pregnant. It is defiantly better to wait to get pregnant until you are at least a year post op because making the baby takes calories that you are unable to consume in the beginning. If you aren't getting enough calories in while pregnant the baby will pull from your own body, which is extremely unhealthy to you. Once you are more then a year post op you are able to fit in more healthy calories. Good luck!

    No Drinking with Meals!

On the topic of flushing food down with liquid.....I have not experienced this at all. I really don't notice any difference with how long before I feel hungry again when I drink with meals vs not. In the beginning though I didn't want to listen to the whole drinking with meals and I got the lovely slimes. It happened a few times before I figured out I didn't want that happening...lol ( I am stubborn btw )
  3. Sorry, i just saw your question. I love kickboxing the most. I get all of my aggression out on the bags, and it has taught me how to defend myself. I don't know if any of you ladies feel this way....but when I was bigger I didn't worry about anyone trying to rape me, or victimize me in any way.....plus I was so big that I could really hurt someone if I wanted to. Now that I am smaller I get really nervous about those things that I didn't worry about before. I feel scared in situations that I would not have been scared in when I was bigger. So doing the kickboxing has helped relieve some of my anxiety.
  4. I was full liquids for two weeks then soft foods for 2.... Then adding real food in little by little to see what I could handle. Take it slow...treat yourself as though you are a new baby learning to eat. Try one thing at a time. Good luck!

    confession :(

Fell off the horse. Get back on. It's just a few more days till you are allowed soft foods...you can wait... As far as tongue lashings, we are all here for support. We are all human and make mistakes. She knows she shouldn't do it, and admitting what she did was wrong is hard to do. As far as stalls..they will come and go, you don't need to worry about them...they will pass. Be careful, and good luck!

    Truth about carbonation

I am really not a fan of soda...never have been....but I do like the occasional beer..I have noticed it takes me about twice as long to drink a beer as before the surgery, and I burp a lot from it. No problems with stretching out my sleeve though. Still can only eat about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food depending on what I'm eating, that is more then 1.5 years out.

    No Drinking with Meals!

At first there won't be a choice for you. You will feel sick if you try to drink to soon after a meal. I would get the slimes. Now at more then a year and a half out I am able to drink a little with meals....but I'm so used to not doing it any more I could take it or leave it.

doc wants me to have bypass

I too had a problem with acid reflux before surgery. I have had maybe 2-3 times since surgery where I have had to take an OTC acid reducer since surgery 19 months ago. I used to struggle with it at least 2-3 times per week before. I think what helped me is that a lot of the acid pumps are removed along with the portion of the stomach that is removed, cutting down on the acid. I am so thankful not to have the problem anymore, along with all of the other benefits I have had due to the surgery! Best of luck!

    Woman only!

I normally put on anywhere from 2-5 pounds right before....but then I will lose that, and then usually have my biggest weight loss right after it...sometimes as much as 4-6 pounds in a week to a week and a half after. I started getting excited to get it because I knew I was going to lose again when it was done! Lol
  10. Mine didn't weigh me the day of, they weighed me at my pre op apt though.

    Is this normal?

Yes...it took me about 10 days for that feeling to go away. It took me about a month before I was able to actually take a sip of water and not have it hurt in some way. Now at 19 months post op I can drink like a normal person again. I can even gulp water, which was huge for me because I have always been a gulper of water. I don't feel like my thirst is quenched without having a lot of water at one time.

doc wants me to have bypass

It's ultimately up to you. He will do the surgery you want. For me personally I didn't want the malabsorption. I did this surgery to be healthier, and I don't believe that the bypass is a healthy choice because of the malabsorption. Good luck!

    Ghrelin...do we get it back?

I too suffer from depression mainly coming from being assaulted at work by a patient, and then not being able to go back to my job that I loved so much. I know I do feel so much better now from losing the weight, and if anything the surgery has helped me come out better. Wellbutrin may help with your depression, however sometimes it takes many attempts at finding the right one for you. I am currently on Effexor which is a combo anti depressant that works on not only serotonin but dopamine as well. One of its side effects is weight loss, so that helps as well with my getting to goal. There are a lot of SSRIS that cause weight gain, so be careful to discuss those side effects with your psych dr. Good luck!

    Ghrelin...do we get it back?

This hormone is also produced in other parts of our bodies. You will have plenty.

    gout

I had gout before surgery but didn't know about it till I got my labs back. I never knew that the pain in my joints wasn't just normal. Anyways I barely have a problem with it anymore even with the high protein diet. I try to avoid processed meats, but if I do have them I drink some cherry juice as well. It is a natural way to get rid of the purines. Never had to take any meds for it. Good luck!

    Not enough protein

Forgot to mention that at Walmart they have protein shots. If you get them really cold it isn't that bad tasting....fruit punch was the best for me. I think they have about 27 grams protein in them. They are easier to get down then the shakes. I used them to make up the difference when I couldn't handle drinking any more shakes.

    Major Acid

Omeprizole you can get it over the counter. Talk to the pharmacist, they will help you chose the right one. Good luck!

    Weight loss post op

Everyone is different. Can't compare yourself to others. Sounds like you are doing terrific though! Good luck!
  19. I love my sleeve! So many wonderful things have come my way since I made this life changing/saving decision. My only regret is not doing it sooner!

  21. Once you are cleared for solids...take it easy on everything, like you are a baby trying everything for the first time. Little bites...if no problem then it's all good. I can eat anything I want now, but that takes a little while to get to that point. Just take it slow. Good luck!

    Insomnia anyone ?

Work out more...that always puts me to sleep. If I really want to sleep I take a Benadryl....knocks me out every time....lol

    Not enough protein

Don't worry about protein yet...fluids are the more important thing right now, take it day by day....soon you will be able to stomach protein. You will do fine.
  24. I was on liquid diet for two weeks, then soft for two weeks. After that everything was allowed. I took my time anyways because I was terrified of leaks. It seems like forever while you are recovering, but during that time you lose so much that it seems worth it too. I look back on my recovery now and it seems like it was really fast. You will do fine.

    Tons of questions! Nervous!

The younger you are the better the skin recovery is. I am 36 and the only problem I have with skin is on my tummy....I had 3 kids and they stretched my belly all out. Make sure to drink lots of water, as this helps moisturize your skin...and helps with elasticity. I am currently trying to come up with the money for a tummy tuck, but everything else looks great to me. I wish I would have gotten this sooner...that is my only regret. Good luck!
