About Me

  • Gender
    Female
I am a Registered Nurse with 14 year of experience working in the Operating Room. After the birth of my 2nd child by C-section, in 2000, I was never able to lose the weight I'd put on during pregnancy. I went from being about 125 pounds to 175. I tried everything to lose the weight, including working out at the gym with a personal trainer, swimming, bicycling, walking, and doing aerobics classes. I toned up but never really took off the pounds. Then in 2006 I started having female problems, and had several surgeries, ending with an Abdominal Hysterectomy. After my hysterectomy, I was on Steroids for my Asthma, and ballooned up another 30 pounds. Since that time I have slowly gained a couple of pounds at a time until I am now weighing in at 215. I am only 5ft 1.6 inches, so the weight is really a struggle for me to manage. I know the basics of healthy nutrition, and I eat a balanced diet, staying away from most sweets, but no matter what diet I have tried, I'm never able to lose more than about 10 pounds at a time. I stay hungry all the time. I have tried nearly every form of weight loss and diet pill and program out there with minimal results. I have had several friends who have undergone the LapBand procedure and have all had excellent success with it. I am eager to have my surgery, so that I can reduce my possibility of future weight related diseases, like Diabetes (Diabetes runs in both sides of my family), and reduce my need for C-Pap, because I do have mild sleep apnea at present. It is very hard carrying around all the extra weight, and my joints hurt, and I become exhausted doing most exercises. I have taken care of so many people in my job as a nurse, that I really let myself go, and now I am ready to focus some attention on myself, so that I can regain my health. It is important to me to take good  care of myself so that I can live longer.
