Good luck and wish you a speedy recovery! I'm five weeks out (yesterday) and feel like a million bucks! Bruce

As a business owner, I have venders invite me to lunch a lot. I even in my preband days said I really don't have time. As for cake or any other sweets, tell them that would require me another 30 minutes on the tread mill (or what ever cardio you're doing). Drs orders sounds good also. Good restraint!!! Bruce

By the time you read this you'll be one of us! Good luck and wish you a speedy recovery! Bruce

Had 1/2 can of chili w/ cheese and salsa last night. Pretty good, but my own will be better when I get some ambition (and time). First fill tomorrow! Jack, your right over the hill from me. I'm in Central WA. Some good chowder would be great. My doc doesn't like us consuming milk (esp. the heavier milk in chowder), so will be awhile. Bruce

I was digging out my driver's license yesterday for ID purposes. While waiting to get my receipt, I checked the weight listed. It said "250 lbs". Well, as of this morning, I actually DO weight 250! Just one of those warm fuzzy moments... Better one will be when I renew in I think 3 years! Bruce

My Driver's License is now correct!

For identification purposes (proof of age, etc). Although, as you see, it isn't entirely acurate.... Bruce -

Wife & I looking into Lap-Band
Brewa2000 replied to jimkelley21's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Jim- My wife I and I went through last November/December what you guys are now. I was banded on 1/31 and my wife 2/22. We are both doing great. She's lost 22 lbs and I've lost 38 lbs. While we know we won't continue to lose at this rate we know it's for our best interest to lose the weight. Do your research and talk about it with your wife. There are some sacrifices (food choices and eating habits), but if you work at it the rewards are there. The weight loss is going to help with the problems that you said you and your wife have. Good Luck! Bruce -
Congratulations! You are now on your way! Each day you'll feel better. Good luck and stop by frequently..... Bruce

Starmamma- Try Dr Earl Fox in Richland. Their was a gal who was banded in Mexico ahead of us (wife's one week check up).

I had mine on Wednesday. I went in Saturday morning to check things out. I was planning on working Friday, but my wife forgot to give me my keys back, so I figured it was ment to be... Good Luck....

Yeh, it looks great, hope it lives up to the previews! I'm actually looking forward to seeing if I can navagate the steps and bleacher seats better. I have arthritis and have needed a hand rail to help me. By fall I hope to have lost enough where I won't have to worry about getting to a seat!

Does your doctor's scale weigh you heavier than at home???
Brewa2000 replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I usually weigh a couple pounds more at the Dr's office, but then again I'm usually there in the afternoon. I like to weigh first thing when I get to work (state certified scale). So I think it's very close. Bruce -
Carl-I sympathize your situation. Keep trying different doctors and hospitals until you find one that will do it in a more timely manner. Is self pay an option? What really scares me is there are those in this country that think we need a health care system like that. Stand strong and don't take no for an answer.... Bruce

Congratulations! Great achievement!

Goodbye, it's been a slice, but I hope I never see you again....

Had me going there for a few moments! Congrats! -
Congrats Chris and Jonathan!!! After the next couple days, you'll start feeling a lot better. Get your sleep in, but the walking is very important too. Welcome aboard!!!
-
Cory, Is that correct that youv'e lost 91 lbs without a fill? Wow... Did you have restriction? I'm getting my first fill next Thursday. Have to use a lot of will power to set the ol' fork down and say "full". You've done it for months! Amazing... Bruce
-
Chris- Will be thinking of you! You'll be joining us soon! If you like this thread, go to the top of the page and left click on "vote" and give us 5 stars. It won't let me vote more than once, darn! Bruce

Hey Ted Haven't decided yet. We've got a lot of steak in the freezer. Fish has been sounding good. Beer butt chicken (very moist) is also a possibility. I haven't used my Traeger BBQ since early January. Geeze even a burger! Does it sound like I'm hungry for solid foods or what?

Yeh, I'm scared to death to try any carbonated beverages. After paying 13 grand for this, I'm going to do my best to follow the rules and get rid of my belly (OK, most of it anyway). BTW, your off and running bigdaddynomo! Your stats are very close to mine (288/252/170). I get my first fill next week. I'm wondering why we only got 4 stars ? IMHO we need that fifth star! How do we vote on this? Bruce

I'm the one trying to keep my DW informed. She figures that I read all the info so why should she. I'm just happy that we can do this together. It wouldn't be fun if we went out for dinner and one of us had a full dinner of normal food and the other was on liquids. Her banding date is 3 weeks after mine, but it won't be long before we are eating the same foods. I think that more ladies get banded for a number of reasons. Women are generally more conscious of their appearance. A few of the guys I know said they would rather be fat than go through what I told them I've have and what lies ahead for me. Myself, I've had no second thoughts and smile with every pound that I lose.... Bruce

Dreamer, My wife was banded at that center this past Thursday. They did 2 others that day and all went well. My wife is still a little sore today, but much better than yesterday. The people there were great! I had mine done at Auburn because I had a problem getting intubated (getting the tube down my throat). Unless you have a special problem, like I did, I wouldn't hesitate to use that facility. If you wish to PM me, it's OK. Bruce

Mike. Not meant to be a lecture, just an opinion. I hope you can enjoy one before dinner. I do at times miss my beer. I've got a 5 gallon corny key about 2/3 full of a real good IPA and another one full of a stout that I'll give to a customer of mine. Guess my only vices now are coffee and a cigar or two per week. ***New topic for discussion*** Guys, what vices have you given up and which are you holding on to? Stand Strong Brothers

Jane, yes you ARE doing great!
