My wife (the fish) loves to swim. Our doc told her she could start when the "bandages" on the incisions fell off. Mine came off in the shower the fourth and fifth days. Her's lasted almost ten days. I'd ask your doc, not the nurse.... Bruce

I too believe that watching my carb intake hastens my weightloss. Carbs cause me to "graze" foods that I wouldn't if I were eating my Proteins and veggies. I lost 70 lbs a few years back doing Atkins. I'm going even better with my "Restricter" installed. My carb count ise higher now than on Atkins, but I still avoid the sugars, bread, Pasta, white rice, etc. Portion size is the key to making this work. Bruce

Good one Reptile! Welcome to the "Bull" pen BigMike and Cred! Keep us up on your progress.... Bruce

At first I thought I would have a big fold of skin, but, so far, it seems to be tightening up nicely. Here's to the winners! Bruce

I really hasn't change what I eat. Just small pieces, eat slow and chew a lot. If I don't, I get a feeling like I swallowed a baseball. I go in for fill #2 Friday. My portion size has increased. Cory-I don't know if it's the surgery or it being our busy season (12 hour work days), but I've been a little "testy" lately. But, without losing the 47 lbs. I don't think I could get my work done. 396- I really don't qualify as a long timer, but for what it's worth, I have no regrets at all. Feeling great! Bruce

Welcome wesboo! Hope that you have a great experience at the seminar and get your date soon. Keep us posted.... Being banded is changing my life every day! Bruce

Your stomach needs to adjust to your diet. It will get better as you progress. As you reintroduce foods, it will "rebel". Not uncommon to gain weight for a few days. It'll come off soon. The broth is only for awhile. Don't worry too much about the sodium. It won't be long before you're on real food. Stand Strong Brothers!! Bruce

Congratulations! Glad you are feeling better. You and I are both lucky to have supporting wives (my wife had surgery on 2/22). As long as you follow yor Drs orders, you will be OK. You will do well! Bruce

Good luck to all the April bandees! It will happen quickly and life will go on. Hard to believe it's been 2 months for me. Just remind yourself why you are doing this. It made it easier for myself... Bruce

When did you get banded? If you just got your first fill, I'll assume it was about 4-6 weeks ago. It's not a competition. You're doing great. 25 lbs is a lot of weight. Just hang in there. Bruce OK I see now you were banded 2-26-07. She had a head start...

Congrats! I was constipated the first couple days, then look out, couldn't wander too far from the "turlit". It'll pass.... Bruce

Do you wear a Medical ID bracelet due to the Band?
Brewa2000 replied to TheCascadian's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Cascadian! Congrats on being banded! I know it's been a long haul for you. I hope all is going well. I haven't ordered the ID yet, but will. It could be a lifesaver. Bruce -
You're doing outstanding Jeff! I had to look twice at your surgery date. 74 lbs in 3 months. WOW! Bruce

Both of the books are very good references. Yes, some of the posts can be helpful, some are not. Lots of differing opinions.... Bruce

Man on the brink of surgery
Brewa2000 replied to bigsexy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi from an almost ex-homebrewer. I still brew a batch or two a year for friends. I cut back in '02 for a couple years, then drank a moderate amount until December of last year. No beer since then. I really don't miss it. I imagine some time I'll sip at one, maybe this summer. A nice Czech Pils would do! You can still taste it before you carbonate it. Granted, it is flat, but you cantaste the malt and hop profile. Oh how I used to love a good hoppy beer! Take care and good luck! Bruce (Brews) -

Hey Cascadian- I see you've got your date. Good for you! Only a little over two weeks away. It will go fast... Bruce -
Hang in there Ted, help is on the way. The first fill really helped jumpstart me (3 lbs since Friday). Learning to drink water like I did the first few days after surgery. I'm amazed at how little I'm eating.

All right Jonathan! Good job!!!

Chelle- You're on your way to a new life that should help a lot with your health problems. I've never been on BP meds, but my BP was around 145/90 during my work up. Last check up (after 25 lb loss) it was 130/68! Good luck! Bruce
