  1. I pray all goes well with your surgery Tulie....please keep us posted your progress and experience
  2. Morning Betty, No I haven't been sleeved yet. I am going through the process now; my insurance required the 6 months supervised weight loss program. Nov. 17th I go for my 4th weight loss weigh-in. I will have two more months to go. I am looking to be sleeve in February 2015 (in about 3 months).
  3. I was concerned that I had gained weight.... my concerns was correct....I had gained two pounds....my nutritionist told me not to worry about the two pounds that I gained....that it could have been a lot more....when we went through my list of foods....I was told to stop eating fruits because even though I get the can fruit with no sugar added....the fruit itself have natural sugar....I was also told to leave brown rice and wheat bread alone....one of my girlfriend had told me about brown rice and the wheat bread....she eats it and have had the gastric bypass for years....and still look good....but I see those are a no no for me....I explained to my nutritionist that I am hungry every 2 to 3 hours....I thought I wasn't eating enough....but to my surprised she said that is normal.....she told me to mix half water and half orange juice plus a 1/2 teaspoon of Metamucil....drank it between meals and this should stop the hungry feelings.....everything else looks good....I was just disappointed that I had gain weight versus maintaining my weight.....my nutritionist assured me this will not harm my claim to BCBS....

    Worried

I go for my 3rd weigh in tomorrow and I am so afraid, I have gained weight instead of maintaining my weight where it is. Have anyone on the supervised weight loss program with BCBS insurance gained weight? How did it work out?

    Worried

Yes Steph, I am pretty sure BCBS insurance policies vary state to state. I just wish I knew for sure about this program.

    Worried

Since I started this weight loss program, I can't get full. I am hungry every 2 or 3 hours. Before it wasn't like this for me, I don't know what's going on.
  9. Hello, my insurance (BCBS) required the 6 months supervised weight loss plan. I am on month 3 have 3 more to go. I think my last check in will be around January 21, 2014; which means once they submit all my information to BCBS I will be looking forward to a February surgery date. I have everything done but my medical letter from my physician and the blood work. If it wasn't for this 6 months requirement I probably would have been sleeved before the end of 2014. But that's fine and I am patient; I have gotten this far no need to rush things now. Plus all the holidays will be over and done with. The only thing is, I think my husband and I will miss our annual trip to Pigeon Forge, TN with our friends; but this will be worth it. Just looking for someone I can talk to about this journey we are all looking forward to taking. I keep telling myself, you made it through summer 2014 as a big girl. The summer of 2015 will be wonderful, I will healthy, full of energy and don't let me forget....I will be FINE....lol!!!!
  10. I just wanted to share this with you all. My husband I went on an 8 days 7 nights cruise; we left Sept. 13th and returned Sept. 21st. This was the first cruise we had ever been on. I just knew we would have a good time and enjoy each other. Don't me wrong I did have a good time; but I was so uncomfortable. I know I am a big girl, I have been this way almost all my life. Even as a big girl I have always been comfortable with myself. But this time it was different; I felt fat and wasn't happy with myself at all. I just kept telling myself hopefully this will be the last vacation you go on as a big girl. I went yesterday for my 3rd supervised weigh in (have 3 more to go); I had gained a pound but I am still under my starting weight. My nutritionist think everything is going well. I just don't know why I felt so uncomfortable and sad on the cruise. In all I was feeling I still kept a smile on my face. People who have not walked in our shoes don't have any idea how it feel to be fat and not understand why you are this way. It's not like we all just lay around and eat all the time; this is truly a disease. Again I just wanted to share this experience with you all.
  11. Great SleeveHopeful777 how's everything going with the required weight lost program
  12. Congratulations Nikkidoodlebug, will you be having the surgery here in the states are will you be traveling to Mexico.
  13. Hi Scorpiosleever, congratulations you are well on your way. I still have a 3 months to go on the required 6 months supervised weight loss program. Hopefully our surgery date will not be that far apart from each other.
  14. Morning Everyone, I am laying here just thinking about this journey I am now going through. I have 3 more months of supervised weight loss to get through and a couple of other things. I haven't told anyone my husband is the only one who knows about this amazing journey I am on. I have kept it to myself because I don't want to hear no negativity about having this surgery. My mind is already on a roller coaster and I know I am doing what's best for me and my health. I just can't take others reaction or advice right now. Feeling some kind of way this morning which I am pretty sure everyone on here has had one of these days. If you all don't mind please share your journey with me and your before/after pictures too. I really need some inspiration right now. Have a Blessed day!
  15. Hi Monasongbird_38 my insurance require 6 months of the supervised weight loss program. I am in month 3 still have 3 more months to go. I am hoping my surgery date will be sometime in February 2015. My last weigh in is around January 21st; I am hoping all the information will be in order so it can be submitted at that time. Are you paying out of pocket or your insurance is covering the procedure?

    Weight gain pre-op.

I was told not to lose any more weight, to try to maintain where I am at. This is not going to well for me because I'm at a lost. I probably could have maintained my weight if they hadn't told me that; but now that they have I have gained at least 2 pounds. My dietician keep telling me I am fine because I am still below the weight that I started with. I thought they whole point of the supervised weight loss plan is to lose weight; but this is not always the case.

    Supervised Diet Plan

momohime I never thought of it that way. If that the case I won't be done with my 6 months supervised weight plan until February 2015 where I am thinking it will be done in January 2015 because my first weigh in was August 2014. I will definitely have to find out if this is the case; my insurance is BCBS. If this is true I won't have a surgery date until sometime in March 2015.

What makes you say "feck 'em"?

Indigo1991, All that is just jealousy. Do they really think we are taking this big step in our lives just to fail? Keep doing exactly what you are doing and let them keep talking.

    My Cruise Vacation

Hi Barbcute, I have 3 more months of the supervised weight program (insurance required 6 months); my last weigh in will be January 2015. I am praying since the holidays will be over with, I will have the surgery in February 2015. I don't know how long it will take BCBS to make a decision on whether to approve me or not. As soon as the BCBS make a decision I hope it won't be soon after.

  23. Hi Pictou, I am so glad to hear everything went well with your surgery. It's good to hear your surgery was outpatient and you didn't have any problems or complications. I wish you the best on your new journey
  24. Hello, I went to my doctor's office on Thursday, September 4th for my sleep study consultation. I was surprised when I was told that my wls will be an outpatient procedure. My question is have anyone else had the gastric sleeve surgery as an outpatient procedure. I was thinking I would be in the hospital at least a day. But I guess if all is well there is no reason for me to stay overnight. Everything else is going well, I am just trying to maintain my weight because they doctor don't won't me to lose anymore weight right now. Even though I have 4 more months on this 6 months supervised weight loss plan. I was told that the insurance company want people to go on the 6 months plan to see if you can lose a certain amount of weight yourself. If you can then the insurance deny your wls surgery because they feel, you have the means of losing the weight on your own. I have lost about 5 lbs and my doctor don't want me to lose anymore just maintain where I am at. This is so messed up; instead of them trying to help their people the insurance company is only out for themselves; but that's the insurance company for you.
