You have to be very careful. You are healing. Anything solid could stretch you pouch and pop the stitches around the band. The third to sixth day was the most painful for me. I am 19 days out and feel back to normal for the most part. Just take your pain meds and walk walk walk.

slp640 replied to myjourneyagain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations! Great attitude keep it up. I am 9 days out. I have a little apetite. But I pretty much make myself eat dinner to keep my strength up. i seem to get weak late in the afternoon. But i am extremely happy with my band. I feel kinda hungry in the morning then about 1 o'clock but after that I am not hungry the rest of the day. I just get a little nauseous but not too bad. I dont know if that means I am hungry. I am still learning my bands sighns. Well good luck on your journey. -

Chest Pain/shortness Of Breathe
slp640 replied to cmoody821's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Monday this week. I also have sharp pain when I take a deep breath. I didnt have a hernia repair. People on this sight told me it is where the band is and it can also be the gas they put in. I have found that it is worse when I standup strait. If i lean forward and take a deep breath it doesnt hurt hardly at all. I hope it goes away soon. Good luck on your journey. That pain is the only complaint I have. I am also having difficulty drinking enough water. Does anyone know how to tell if you are dehydrated? -
I am 4 days post-op . Just about everytime I take a real deep breath I get bad pain. It is where my band is. Is this normal and will it go away? Otherwise I am doing great. No pain at any incisions or even the port site. Could it be gas?

Thank you I was worried I might have pulled something . I have found if I lean forward to take a deep breath it doesnt hurt . I know thats weird but whatever works right.

Well here I am on day three post op. I said I would keep everyone posted on my progress. It hasnt been bad at all. I am sleepy a lot but that is probably the meds and no food. Yesterday I could barely get 2 bottles of water down. Today I get to start full liquids but only 2 oz, at a time. I woke up this morning and the minute I stood up I thought I was gonna throw up. I just kept swallowing and it passed. I gotthe nausea meds immediately. I have had the feeling about 4 times this morning. So that is about the worst that has happened so far. Gas hasnt been bad at all, but I have been walking a lot and my hubby has been tapping my back and that seems to help a lot. So my journey is starting out on the plus side. I will keep everyone informed on my journey. Good Luck to all future and existing bandsters.

Mine is 48 hrs liquid then full liquids until post op visit. But can proceed to mushies if I can tolerate them.

Dinda I have not been hungry at all. I am eating 2 oz or blended cottage cheese just to put some substance in my body. I have felt really tired today and I think that is because of being on just clear liquids. My pain is very minimal. The only thing that hurts is when I take a deep breath. Walking seems to help that. I got to start full liquids today so I also had a protein shake that took me 5 hours to drink. So just taking it slow so I dont have any setbacks. I have absolutely no regrets for having this done.

Well I went in at 9:30 and was out by 10:15. Recovery room until 12:15. I wanted to tell that it wasnt very bad all. I am eating jello and have not gotten nausious . The only complaint is I have cotton mouth. I have a patch behind my ear so I dont get nausious . Thats whats causing the cotton mouth. I am going to keep it there until morning. I just wanted to post a positive post . I know how scary it is to read posts with so many complications. I am ready to do this and follow directions to a T. I hope everyone that had surgery today has just as good orf an outcome. Please post how your experience was today. Sorry if some of this is all over the place I am under the influence ( pain meds). Good luck to everyone who is getting close to surgery. I would like to hear your experiences good or bad.

I have BCBS of Illinois and it took 13 days for me.

I was the same way. I started my preop diet last monday. I also started using my we fit. I started slow doing only fifteen a day for the first 2 days now I do 30 min a day. Some days i come hame from work and dont want to do it but I tell myself it is only a half hour. I always feel so much better about myself when I am done. I know it isnt much but it is 100% more than I did before. I hope to advance to 45 min. by the time my surgery next week. So all I can say is to start slow and you will feel so good about yourself.

slp640 replied to DeAna N's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried eas but I will keep them in mind for a change. I have been drinking premier protein shakes. I have discovered that they seem to taste better at room temp. even tho they say to serve cold. Just thought I would throw that out there if you would like a change. -
