I started my preop diet today. Mine is to drink a protein shake for breakfast and a snack. Then have a half portion lunch and dinner. I am suppose to stay away from carbs and starches. I am going to try to do only the half portion for dinner and halve my protein shake for lunch. I feel the more I can lose before surgery the safer my liver will be. Wish me luck! By the way my diet is 2 weeks.

I just got my pre-op diet e-mailed to me today. I start it on the 11th. Mine is 1 one protein shake for breakfast and one for a snack, then for lunch and dinner no carbs or sugars. No pasta, bread, potatoes or any other starches. It said to eat a half lunch and a half dinner. How do I know what they consider half. I think I will call Monday and see if they could be a little more clear on how many calories and things.

I have bcbs of IL. I live in Texas. I had to do 6 month dr supervised diet and psyc test. You have to have bmi of at least 40. If under you have to have 2 comorbidities. I had 2 doctors the forst office dropped the ball so to speak but the second turned it in and I was appproved in 13 days. My surgery is scheduled for June 25th. So good luck to you.

Maria, I have bcbs of illinois but I live in texas now. I was from Ottawa where are you from.

I also have bcbs of Illinois. It took 13 days to get approved. But the next day I got my surgery date set. So after the approval things seem to move quickly. Just have patience and think positive. Good luck.

Well the date has finally been set. Surgery is June 25!! I am looking forward to starting this journey. I am so tired of people saying why dont you just go on a diet. Like I didnt thinki of that or try. I have done weight watchers , Adtkins, Curves. The cabbage soup diet and so on. I know this is going to be the help I need. I look forward to eating and getting healthy. I want to thank everyone on here again for all the helpful information I have found on here. It has only taken 13 months and 2 different doctors to get approved but finally got the ok. Tomorrow I call the surgons office to start the ball rolling. I just had let someone know I am so excited. I am soo ready for this journey. I have been lurking on here for months just reading. I want to thank everyone for all the information I have learned.

congratulations!! Today is a great day I got approved after over a year. I had to change doctors to get approved my first office dropped the ball. It took less than two weeks with the new office.

I know it is frustrating but think possitively at least you got approval. I have trying for a year now. Did everything I was suppose to. Then my doctors office dropped the ball in my opinion. So now I have a new doctor and they sent in yesterday for ins. approval. Now I am waiting again. So I am happy for you that you are at least approved. The wait will be worth it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

HI EVERYONE, I am new to this. I have been reading all your posts for days. I am on my last month of supervised diet. I am hoping to get a surgery date on my next visit. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get one of those tickertrackers. I made one but cant seem to paste it. What code do i use and where do I paste it.
