Lesson Learned The Last 2 Nights..
crazyrai replied to crazyrai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Sleeve!!! Now that i'm through the worst my outlook is much better Ilyssa- I think people kinda figured out what i was doing at work and most of them know by now because of my postings on facebook, i think they all know that i had struggled with PCOS and fertility issues so i don't think anyone is holding what i did against me...And if they judge me who cares, i'll look better than all of them soon My last supper lasted a week, i think that week i went out for Pasta, had pizza, McD's..My final friday was Tacos due to Cinco De Mayo later for dinner it was all bar food, chicken wings, rib tips, brushetta 2 orders, fries and a veggie platter oh and 4 vodka cranberries..Me and the girls polished that off like nothing, it was like it was their last meal also....My friends are thinking this will also help them because when the come over in the future when i can actually eat they will get normal size portions and healthy stuff from scratch and not a box Day 1-4 sucks but after that on liquid you just don't care.. -
Lesson Learned The Last 2 Nights..

Don't worry about the heartburn and stuff they send you home with everything,, I actually had awful heartburn for years and I haven't taken a pill since surgery so I hope I'm over that crap but who knows when I start to actually eat... I know everyone is so different, 2 people at work were back to work in under 2 weeks... I asked my doc and he said 3-4 I have a pretty good short term plan so sign me up for 4, I'm actually kinda glad I did that as I'm finally starting to feel good and want some me time to get used to everything.... Today I learned another lesson don't chew or swallow gum, I had a total brain fart and chewed some gum and down it went.. Had to call my doc she said within the hour u will know if it's stick luckily I feel fine and everything is going down... This is all learning time trial and error... You will be fine!! If I can do it anyone can -
Lesson Learned The Last 2 Nights..

OMG I must have drawn the short stick with the pain, it was bad in the hospital they tried 3 different things and nothing worked... They sent me home with Tylenol Codine which honestly was a joke, its only in the last 2 days that I have felt human and can get out of bed without dreading it...It was only the right side that hurt and it wasnt tthe cuts it has been a deep muscle pain..... But the last 2 days I have been pushing through and getting some walk time in and that has helped... Don't be scared, I only cried once due to pain but it was more frustration than anything.... -
I knew this was going to be a few weeks of hell, between the not eating and hurting... I just hoped I'd be one of the lucky ones doing 3 mile walks a few days after surgery guess not

Funny i was thinking about posting the exact same thing! I'm 12 days out also and damn sometimes i really hurt! I have 4 cuts on the left of my stomach, and i haven't felt a thing from those, it's really like nothing ever happened.. NOW the right side is a different story, i have 2 bigger cuts and 2 smaller ones and my right side is bad...Doc said that's where he did all the pulling from and also took the gallbladder out. I guess i just expected this to only last a few days, and it has gotten better i can have a few hours with no pain but when it hits forget it.. Its like a severe burning and deep sore from the inside, i've done hot, cold, pain pills ect and nothing has worked for me...Nobody seemed to concerned even at my post op they said it was pretty normal..But i find it very hard to get motivated because the one day i did a real walk i paid for it for over day...so now i'm just doing very small walks but i feel like this is the time i should really be loosing the weight.. Oh this is hard! Thanks had to vent too Rai

It's not stabbing pain, it's like a very deep sore pain...it's like you have done 100 sit ups and your abs are just on fire... But other people say they aren't sore at all... I have been getting my liquids in pretty well, I didn't drink anything while in the hospital but after I got home and sorta opened my throat up it goes down better... I'm a chugger so thats been hard when I drink too quick it's like it sticks for a sec then a bubble pops and slides down... For my first day of full liquids I haven't had a problem at all, just eating like a 1/4 cup or spoonfuls... As much as I want to jump ahead and eat a steak it will be better in the long run to ease into it...

Thats good, i just go wherever they say i'm covered...I think you are in good hands anywhere you go. I think this type of stuff is so common they can do it with their eyes shut
-
Oh I hear ya, my goal certainly not to look like I did in my teens I looked sick... A normal looking shape would be fine whatever that means... To be able to shop at target would be fine
-
Hi sleeve I was thinking about going to the support groups as soon as I'm able... I live in Eagan so it's kinda a drive but it's closer to work... Can I ask how much you lost total in 8.5 months? I'm down 12 pounds in 7 days, which she said was good because I flushed all the gas and liquid they pumped in me and then some... Rai

Upset Right Now. 1 Week Post-Op
crazyrai replied to Nola_Loser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same boat, surgery on the 15th and i'm starting to get VERY grouchy! I seriously haven't had anything to chew in lets see 20 days?? I haven't been able to do broth or Jello, i burnt out on them during my pre op deal... I'm living off crystal light and popsicles.. I did have a lick of the dogs ice cream cone tonight it took real power to not just woof it down.. I gone in for my 1 week tomorrow and i'm really hoping to do the full liquids atleast that means Soups, not sure what kind of soups but i'll blend the hell out of anything at this point.. I'd also die for some frozen yogurt and any kind of meat... Rai -
Sorry it's about 9 now, i was trying to stay busy all day otherwise i get grumpy cuz i can't eat

Well i did mine with the other surgeon Dr Jones and was very pleased..I know someone else that did the RYN with your guy and he was good too...I just liked the way Jonesy did the info session... I don't think the sleeve has any more complications than the other, my guy did say that because i'm so young 31 that he wouldnt advise me to do the RYN IE dumping, malabosorbsion and some other crap..So i trusted him and he did say that it is totally possible to loose over 150 pounds i want to loose 120... But i know that my friend that did the RYN said it was a good choice as she had immieditae medical things she needed corrected... Sorry my spelling sucks and i'm in bed on my back rai

Yeah it moves kinda slow, i had a 6 month diet wait deal so mine really seemed to creep, but let me tell you once they call to confirm all of the paperwork is good and insurance is good it starts to move.... I think waiting to be scheduled with the pre op with surgeon took longer that was like a 3 week wait.. went to see him April 30th and he had openings as soon as may 8th, i took may 15th and it did fly by even with being on a 10 day liquid diet it was very quick...and now i'm here with cuts on my tummy 6 days after surgery... The surgery was a fear of the unknown, i had never had an operation or been in a hospital so it was scary, some things were better than others experienced others were worse but nothing that makes you like this is too much...just a little uncompfy. I had mine done at methodist st louis park... Rai

I'm in minnesota and just was sleeved on the 15th... I'm just learning like a baby on what to do, i'm still in recovery

Just got done crying in the kitchen while looking at this NASTY broth! I'm ready to do this, but the thought of not being to have anything filling or with flavor for the next month of so is really getting to me. I think homeless people eat more food than this, 10 day liquid diet blows!.... I'm 6 days into this, and cranky! luckily today was my last day at work because i feel a total breakdown coming... Ok i'm done venting, i did cheat and eat 2 crackers with my wonderful yuky broth.. .. Thanks for listening. Rai

Im jealous you had a pain pump I just had liquid vicodine and that is crap... I walked down the driveway and did 3 mins on the treadmill I don't want to scare the whole neighborhood with no bra on walking like a crazy person.... I fall asleep every 4 hours like out cold... My day is breath into that thinger, sit up and drink, wait for bubbles to go down potty n back to bed.. TMI I was able to #2 today which is great I heard some people take weeks and I think I'd be grouchy by then

well all i can say is ouch! my left side of the tummy is perfect can't tell i have holes at all...but now the right side is a whole new ballgame.. It hurts like crazy..The doc said thats where they did the yanking from and thats were i have lots of stitches under the skin which the other side doesn't.. He said it was perfectly normal. Did my leak test Wed am and they said it was perfect so that was a worry lifted.. They were on me about the liquids i told them yesterday am to take my IV out so i can see how i do, i can drink about a cup and a half through the day..all i hear is cackle and crunching in my tummy like it gets stuck for a second then passes on. I never had gas pains except later in the night after surgery i was up walking at 3 am it felt like someone was sitting on my chest after i did 3-4 walks it was gone..thank god! what else, they havent been able to control the pain on the right side, i was on shots and oxy an vicodine..nothing seems to help, ive been icing hopeing it goes away by monday... Sorry if this is all over i'm on some oxy crap and have no idea why i take it except it helps me sleep..which makes me mad too because i'm a side sleeper an this whole sleeping on the back blows!!!! I'm Having A Liquid Diet Breakdown
crazyrai replied to crazyrai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beef ramen noodles for lunch WAYYY better than the crap in the can.... Today i think i'm running on pure adrenalan, because i've been cleaning like a nutcase, my mom said people get like the right before surgery, maybe she is trying to make me feel better...I don't think my husband is minding the cleaning less stuff on his chore list.. Partially too because i want to come back home to a spotless house it seems to always make me feel better.. i also got my lawn chairs ready to go recovery in the sun is going to be a good thing.... -

I'm Having A Liquid Diet Breakdown
crazyrai replied to crazyrai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah i'm using regular beef and chicken broth, my NUT has already called me twice and asks how i'am and just tells me stick to it and it will be over soon... I hope with a much smaller tummy i won't feel the hunger pains i feel now, when my dog looks good to eat ya know you have problems i wish every doctor followed the same rules, everyone has such different rules, but i must say i'm happy not to be on a longer diet like i have seen people need to do 20 days, i'd be dead.. -
1 More Week..... And I Am Freaking Out!
crazyrai replied to Shilo30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm having mine next week too the 15th...I'm actually looking at the clock now thinking this time next week i'll be under and getting sliced up. My nurse told me today that it's very normal and i have to believe her as she had it done also... I'm going to start packing my luggage this weekend, they are going to think i'm moving in! But i want to be compfy and have soothing things around me.. -

Any May Sleevers Here?
crazyrai replied to chicagochic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lolly- I'm on full Protein shakes, sugar free Jello and pina colada popsicles.... All the broth i have tried makes me gag, it smells so bad.. I just wish i could eat fruit or even veggies.. My hubby made it through 2 days with me and he finally gave up this morning, but he is a typical man and not following the 5 shake a day deal.. It's just really hard with a "normal" size tummy...I pray that after this is done and Protein Shake will fill me up and i won't have the shakes and headache like i'm starving... Just waxed my car that's how busy i'm trying to keep my brain!
