Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder
Amanda61082 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ordered Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder because I was having a hard time drinking the powder with milk. According to the info it says it's almost hidden in juices such as Crystal Light. Good Lord! For one...it is the same consistency of the vanilla powders, and it made my juice all foamy and thick. I guess it's better than nothing, but now my Lemonade Crystal Light taste like I added medicine to it! Does anyone have any protein shakes they swear by? -

I am enjoying a yogurt smoothie, and will be enjoying some tomato soup for lunch! I never thought I would be so excited for these food items, but I am!!! I read my post-op handbook three times just to make sure I was allowed to eat this week. Just thought I would share my excitement! -

Feb. Bandsters! I Just Got Home!
Amanda61082 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I just got home! My surgery was Monday. I was supposed to be home yesterday but I began to have trouble breathing. They found that my lungs filled with mucus and it was affecting my breathing, so I had to stay one more day. No biggie. I was so surprised about how there was little to no pain after surgery. They kept giving me Vicodin every 4 hours even if I didn't feel like I needed it. It was awesome. However, yesterday when I staretd to coughing a lot, I needed 2 because I was super sore! I just wanted to share with all of you my experience! I hope everyone else has experiences as smooth and painless as mine!!! Yay! -

I am glad to say that I just transfered from the Pre-Surgical forum to the Post-Surgical site. I am very excited! I just got banded on Monday, and the surgery and recovery for the band went great! I did end up having breathing problems, but it was nothing major, I just had to stay an extra night. I can't to chat with you all! Amanda

I don't get it... -
I recieved my appointment in the mail for my post-op appointments, and I am not even seeing anyone until over 2 weeks after surgery. Is that normal? I thought I was told I would be seen a week after to make sure I was healing alright, but I am not going back until 2 weeks. This is strange to me. I can't exercise until I see the staff again, so I can't for 2 weeks, then I don't see the Nutrionist again until 8 weeks after. Is this all normal? I figured the month after surgery I would have check-ups to make sure things were going alright. What has everyone else done?

I feel like I know this answer, but I want to see what others have done and/or plan to do. My surgery is scheduled for Monday and I am doing fantastic on my liquid diet. I don't want to binge eat, but I just want to have one meal that I can chew and swallow and enjoy before surgery. I may even go sorta healthy. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences? I was planning on doing the meal on Saturday.

I didn't know we knew each other so well! I decided not to be "reckless" and the comments about how people had last suppers was more helpful, than your advuce above. I don't mean to be "snarky" and "pissy" but I wanted to hear experiences not a full lecture about how I am not ready for this life change. I am glad that you lost so much weight, I hope that I can be as successful, but your comments feel like judgements and not supportive advice. I think I will take a break from lapbandtalk for awhile because the "support" isn't that supportive, well for me anyway. I hope everyone keeps doing well, and keep up the good work! I hope when I come back in about 5 mths I can say I lost around 70lbs too!

So I am about to start week 2 of my pre-op diet and I am having a hard time drinking all 5 shakes. I am getting to the point where they are hard to stomach. I am good with drinking the first three of the days then around 4 I am forcing them down, which is making me sick. I am not even hungry past 4pm. Should I just force them down? I was told that I need 60g of protein a day, I reach that after 4 shakes. I am just starting to get sick forcing them down? Any advice/suggestions?

Thank you. I just wanted to see what people have done. I didn't post this topic so I could get responses telling me why I was on the liquid diet and what my doctors want. I know all of this. I just simply wanted to know what people did. If you weren't on a liquid diet at all, then you don't need to tell me that and that you had a a meal. I feel like the last few things I posted, I just get back a lecture when I just want a simple answer. I am sorry if I sound a little harsh and pissy, but I just want to know if people did or didn't.

In addition, I didnt say I wanted pizza or chinese, I actually want some baked chicken breast on lettuce leaves. I don't think my post stated I wanted bad food. Hm....

It's not I feel like I will miss foods, I think I just wanted to eat something since I have another 3 weeks of liquid after. I guess I knew the answer, I just wanted to see what others have done. I have lost 21lbs in less than a month so in my head I was thinking what would it hurt. I guess thats how I got fat in the first place! I just hate that other get to eat the whole time up to surgery and some (like me) are liquids only. <big sigh, pity party for me!>

I got on the scale this morning, and lo and behold....I lost 20.8lbs! I just met my first goal I gave myself, and I haven't even had surgery yet! I can't wait to get my perfume to reward myself!!!

Does This Really Work
Amanda61082 replied to newme2012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I do the same thing. I try to order a meal that has meat, veggies and a starch. Then when they bring the meal, I ask for an extra appetizer plate. I put what I am going to eat on the smaller plate, then I ask for them to wrap up the rest when they come back to check on the meal. You don't feel like you want to finish all the food if it is out of sight! Out of sight out of mind! -

I was given a specific Protein mix. The taste isnt what gets me, I am just not hungry, so it makes me feel sick. 7 days and they are gone forever! I can do this! -

Personal Victories
Amanda61082 replied to Jerseygirl82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first goal is to loose 20 lbs. This is a milestone for me because I always loose 20 lbs, and thats it. I am currently down 15 lbs, when I loose the next 5 lbs, I am getting my nails done. I actually made a list of what I am rewarding myself at different pounds lost. -
I am on day 4 of my 2 week liquid diet. Previous to this I was on the "Plate" diet (3oz Protein, 1cup of veggies, 1/2cup of carbs). I lost 15 lbs in two weeks on the "plate" diet. When I had my final pre-op visit, they said I was definitely going to loose weight within the next two weeks, espically if I exercised. So I joined a gym and have been drinking my 5 shakes and just Water. I haven't lost a damn pound! When I was eating food, I was 5lbs less at this point. I hate complaining, which I know is what I am doing, but I am starting to freak out, because in all my diet attempts, throughout my life, I have hit 15lbs, and that was it! I could never loose more than 15lbs. I hope this is just some stall in the weight loss. I have been busting my ass at the gym and fighting hunger and cravings, and not seeing the scale go past 15lbs is kinda freaking me out, and making me a little mad ! I need some encouragement please.

I never thought of that. Being patient sucks sometimes! Thank you!

Am I Missing Anything?/recipes

You are lucky that you get to eat stuff other than the shakes. I get 5 Protein shakes a day, with some Water in between! I would kill for some tomato soup or broth!
