VSG 3 days ago. Holidays + my birthday...
debgwoody replied to luvbugz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on my liquid diet ( surgery next Tuesday) and yesterday was hard... I actually cooked and had the celebration at my home .We had about 25 people and each one brought a dish each looked better and smelled better than I remembered . I had a shake and I never let go of my water bottle , I drank 80 ozs , in 3 hours. But I had a great time visiting and watching the kids run and play. I too am wondering what will I do instead of eating , but my mind says there has to be a better way , we each need to find it for ourselves! ( but I am open to any ideas!!) Congrats on your sleeve cant wait to be there ! Live each day as it may be our last.God Bless and wishing you a speedy recovery. -

debgwoody replied to debgwoody's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first meeting was a seminar on March 19 , 2011. Had 12 weeks supervised diets , behavior ,nutrition and Dr's. appointments. Every thing was sent in Last wed (May 25,11) should have had surgery on the 5th but I am gone a week in June so I have mandatory (by the Doctor) classes of 4 weeks preop , I have to miss one in the middle but just one week wont kill me! I hope!! So adding it all up I will have surgery its like 4 months and 3 weeks from start to surgery! Seems long but the time flies by. Good luck . will watch for your progress! -
Got my approval today... sent in Wednesday ....approved on Tuesday even with the holiday! So relieved that part is over! I'm so happy I want to celebrate ! I'll shut up now.

Has anyone actually failed at this?
debgwoody posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I"m excited about getting my sleeve ...one concern .I've failed every attempt to lose weight my whole life. Will I fail at this too? I'm doing a 12 week supervised diet for my insurance and have lost a few pounds, but nothing near what I need to lose. Just wondering (worrying) will this tool be right for me? -
Have you had luck getting Aetna to approve your surgery ? I still have 6 weeks of classes but am determined to get this done.Just wondering . I know they have lots of stipulations. Just feeling anxcious. Good luck!

Aetna does cover the sleeve. It reqiures a 6 month or 3 month supervised diet program.I too have Aetna and am in my second month of classes .They said Aetna is very hard to get an approval so document everything. The more you have to show them , the better off you will be .so from start to surgery we are looking at 6 months with the supervised program, and a year with the non supervised program. Good Luck in the long run they will be saving money ,you'd think they wouldn't make it so hard!

I've just begun my journey , I have participated in 1 week of 12 pre op classes, required by my insurance .I am very excited to finish up classes and schedule a surgery date.At this point i won't have surgery until July or August, and patience is not my strong suit. But I'm learning quickly this all has a time frame that I need to fit into. My highest weight is 264.4 . I am 52 years old. I have been reading alot of your post , and the encouragement is a blessing.I plan to see this through .
