Post-Op Gallbladder Removal
Kezzo replied to pmartin323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like the iband procedure...? -
I have NEVER looked like my passport picture, and haven't had any problems. They always ask me questions, like birth date, where I was born, etc. Good for me, but kinda scary if you think about it.

Psych Evaluation Scheduled, Then My Doctor Will Submit To Bcbs!
Kezzo replied to tokiesgirl6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my psych eval last week and thought it went great. I really don't know what you would need to avoid saying. They are basically just making sure that you fully comprehend the surgery and the lifestyle changes you need to make. And that any psych issues (depression, anxiety, OCD, etc) are under control. She pretty much just went over my relationship with food, my family history, and my previous depression issues. She did, however, try to talk me out of the band and into bypass because of my "relationship" with grazing, since I am always on the go with two toddlers. But, I just don't think I can deal with how invasive that procedure is. Good luck with your eval. I am meeting with my surgeon Tuesday to go over all of my test results, etc, so I am getting anxious! -
I was hoping for Feb, but it looks like my insurance is making me wait until March....

Depo Shot And Lapband
Kezzo replied to Yolanda Swing-banks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say, after using Depo, all different pills, etc... I will never use any of them again. I have a Mirena now and it is AWESOME! If you have the option, definitely look into it! -
I had no clue there were two bands in the US. I was looking through my folder from the WLS Center and just noticed. Do I choose, or just leave it up to my surgeon? Also, does anyone have a Realize band? I am just curious on the differences, if there really are any....

Iband.. Questions About It..
Kezzo replied to rachelcummings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I am confused by the OP's question... I am not banded yet, so I guess I am not understanding what part of lapband surgery involves folding and sewing up your stomach....? -
Protein Powder- Questions
Kezzo replied to JustDoIt130's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been using Jay Robb whey protein powder. I really like the fact that is uses Stevia rather than artificial sweeteners or sucralose. I know the Vitamin Shoppe has there own version with Stevia that is a few bucks less. That being said, Jay Robb is the only one I have tried thus far. I am going to get some samples at at local shop, which you can also order online at www.nashuanutrition.com. They specialize in nutrition for weight loss and bariatric patients. I believe online the samples are $1.95 each, not sure if they are powder or ready to drink. They may have both. Good luck finding one that works for you -
Can you have the surgeon sign you out on FMLA, so that you will be protected by law if you miss a day from work? My surgeon signed my hubby out for all of my pre-op visits because I have no one else locally to watch my 1 & 2 year old boys. Congrats on the surgery date!

On my way to revision from lap band to gastric bypass
Kezzo replied to cassieme1's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am in the process of getting banded, and was wondering what made you decide to go from band to RNY? -
I am also nervous as can be, and I don't even have a date set yet! I keep telling myself that after two c-sections, this will be a breeze. But my problem is, I have never been put under. Just had an epidural with one and a spinal block with the other. I think being knocked out is what scares me the most!

I keep seeing the term PB on a lot of posts. What does it mean?

Thank you for the input! I am excited to get my numbers back in range. I never had an issue with resistance until after my second pregnancy, but from having back to back pregnancies, I gained too much and now I just cannot seem to lose any of it. My endo calls it "double diabetes", and that is just something I never want to hear again! I too am on an insulin pump. Right now, my A1C is 9.3. For years, it was typically between 6-6.5, except for when I was a non-compliant teen and rebelled against taking insulin. Question for the other pumper... is it easy to change your site around the band port? I am hoping its not too much of an issue. I would hate to mess with the port.

I just began the process to get banded. I have a question for anyone who has diabetes and has a band. I have type 1, however, I also have significant insulin resistance since my last pregnancy . While I know that I will always be on insulin, I was wondering for those type 2's (or anyone in my situation) how long it took before your glucose numbers dropped. I am having a super difficult time getting to my pre-surgery goal because of the amount of insulin I have been taking. That being said, it does not seem to be much of a concern with my WLS team. The main goal of the surgery is for me to kick the insulin resistance. They have been trying to get me to consider RNY, as it is almost immediate with that surgery, but I DO NOT want something so invasive. So, basically, I am just wondering how long after being banded that it took for your glucose numbers to drop....? Thanks!
