    The Countdown Has Begun!

This Friday is my big day!!!! I am so excited!!! I need to do some shopping this week and get stocked up. I have to do Clear liquids on Thursday so I'm going to make some yummy homemade chicken broth. (always better than store bought) I took all of next week off and am preparing done small craft projects to keep me occupied during my recovery. I know I'll get bored with TV/movies/Internet pretty quick. I just can't wait!!!!

    2Days Post-Op

Had my surgery yesterday and the nurse told me to do standing jumping jacks....just the arm movement. She said to do a set of 10 several times throughout the day and will say that it helps.

    What Did You Say?

Wow! These are so fun! I woke up pretty clear headed, just like I had a nice long nap. The recovery nurse loved me and said she was sad to see me go. We just had nice normal conversations. Everyone kept saying, "oh, your wide awake!!!"

    The Countdown Has Begun!

The worst part was the IV. My veins hide and are very small, so had a whole team working on me. I was also incredibly emotional....crying and everyone was concerned. The entire staff at the hospital was so wonderful. After the procedure, I felt great. My pain never got beyond a 3. I have some slight shoulder pain and nausea. I am so pleased with everything so far!!

    Emotional Breakdown

Oh hon, I'm sorry.....it is really hard, isn't it? Drug addiction is ver different than food addiction.....we don't need drugs to live, but we do need food. That makes it very difficult. It sounds like you, like many of us, use food for comfort when you are feeling bad/mad/sad emotionally. I know I do. In order to be successful with the band, we need to find other ( healthy) ways to deal with our emotions. I'm proud of you for looking up the calories. You faced the truth instead if just "assuming" it was healthy. There are a lot of people who dont do that and then the complain the band doesn't work. I know I am going to work on other coping mechanisms. Going for a walk, journaling, drinking a cup if tea/coffee.....things that will help me process my emotions without putting me in a downward spiral........like a binge would. Good luck to you. Remember that when you make a mistake, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start over.

    The Countdown Has Begun!

On clear liquids today, which actually isn't too bad. I have a bad cold, so that is the worst part. I'm hoping my cold doesn't present any issues tomorrow morning!! I'm going to get plenty of sleep tonight and hope its not as bad in the morning.
  9. Tomorrow is my day too! Not loving this clear liquid diet today and am battling a cold, but very excited about tomorrow!!

  11. Hi guys, I'm stressing out. I have surgery on Friday but seem to have caught a cold or sinus infection. I have drainage in the back of my throat which is causing some throat irritation. I'm going to call the doctor's office when it opens and find out if this could cause the operation to be delayed. Does anyone have any insight to share?

    Longest Month Ever!!!

I won't be banded until 8/24 and this month seems to be draaaaaaagging!!!! I just saw a video of myself....talk about a dose of reality! Normally I would've been devastated with seeing my body as it really is, and I still kind of am, but this time I know that a change is coming and that 6 months-1 year down the road will be very different for me. I just can't wait to start this journey!!

Seem To Have Developed Candy Addiction

In my personal opinion/experience, it's the red hits and chocolate that are feeding your desire for more sugar. I believe I have a sugar addiction. When I eat the tiniest amount of sugar, I want MORE and MORE! Even a red hot could make me lose control. It's like any addiction, I can't do "just a little" and remain in control. You may need to break your addiction ( if you think you have one) by stopping cold turkey. After a few days the cravings will stop and you won't crave it again, until you have another taste of a high-sugary food. FYI ----carbs trigger my addiction as well, because the body recognizes them as sugars. So no white food for me: Pasta, bread, potatoes, crackers, chips, etc. Something to consider......best wishes!
  15. I'm very excited to have my date scheduled!!!! I think of that day as my new birthday, because I'll be starting anew and essentially will be reborn!

Things I Won"t Miss After My Surgery!

I won't miss..... -having to stand in the back of group pics -hoping i won't have to take the stairs when visiting clients -having my fashion sense not match up with what I actually (have to) wear -feeling HUGE -looking at a chair with arms and wondering if I'm going to fit

    Need Some Encouragement...

Do it girl!!!! No one can do it for you. You CAN do it!!!!! You don't need high-impact to get results. You just need to start moving, walking, strolling, whatever you can do will help. You can use weights for upper body strength, ab exercises, leg lifts.....all strength training options. Make a goal to accomplish something by Sunday night. Then make another goal for the following week.....you'll feel do much better once you take action! You Can Do It!!!!

    Pcp Problems?

My PCP told me that I won't lose enough weight with the lapband and will gain it all back. She wanted me to get gastric bypass. I was so disheartened by that visit! Since then I have continued on my path and decided to not let her, of all people, be my biggest naysayer.

    Staying Active Beyond Working Out

    Love it!
  24. My husband and I are looking for ways to stay active on the weekends, beyond our workouts. What are some ideas? I'm sad to say that after being sedentary for so many years, I'm at a bit if a loss! Keep in mind we have an almost-3 year old that we'd like to include in our activities. Thanks in advance for your input!
