Hi farm girl. My condolences on the loss of your mother. I must say I get some of this. My mom died 7 years ago from cancer. We were going to bring her to my home under hospice care, but the night before she was to come home she passed. That was hard. I too am an avid runner now and I just had my TT 11 weeks ago. The running is like my church. It soothes my soul the way nothing else can. The restrictions after the TT are the absolute worst thing about it because you cannot release those tensions and frustrations. Add to it the passing of your mother....I cannot imagine how hard that is. I haven't known anyone who didn't just go berserk during that down time....especially fitness oriented people. I do however know how weird it is to not have to wash under your belly anymore. After almost 3 months I'm still trying to wash under it.....but it's not there. The good news is...in a few weeks you'll be able to return to running, and it will come back to you quicker than you realize. I thought I was going to lose every bit of my fitness, but surprisingly that didn't happen. After just 4 weeks back to running I'm already feeling like my old self. Running a half marathon tomorrow in fact. I hope you feel that way again soon.

*Gastric sleeve diet* (without surgery)
Butterthebean replied to Maccurdyerica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wish the rest of us had your mind over matter super powers then we wouldn't have needed to take the easy way out and have surgery. -
So far I'm up to 64.9 miles running (but I have a half marathon) tomorrow. And 7550 meters swimming. Should easily meet my swimming goal but it's going to take a push to reach my running goal of 120 miles. I'm gonna make it though. Keep it up everyone. Keep doing what you can. This crazy month is almost over.

Yeah I used a lanyard too. I was showering after 1 week. Gawd it felt so good. I wore a lanyard around my neck and hooked the drains to that in the shower. -
Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

Sorry but it think it's fun. Once you learn to find that runners high every time, it's very enjoyable. Nothing else gives me the peace of mind like running. For me it's all a matter of running within myself. Staying in my aerobic zone. If I get out of that, the fun's over. -
An atheist's pov vs a christain point of view

I think god should go love his diversity over in the Christian forum a little more often and not so much in the atheist forum. That's my point. -
Me too. All things in moderation just doesn't work for some of us. Breaking the bonds of addiction to those foods takes hard work and determination but once you detox from their terrible after effects you can feel much better. After all, you wouldn't tell a cocaine addict to use it in moderation would you?

I've had it in the past. Not as bad as you, but I had it and thought it was a wisdom tooth. So did the dentist and he pulled the wisdom tooth and swore that would put an end to my pain. 3 days later the pain came back and I know it wasn't the wisdom tooth. I had a massage therapy friend massage it for several days in a row and that helped tremendously. Now whenever it gives me a little trouble I massage the joint for 10 minutes or so.

An atheist's pov vs a christain point of view

That's exactly my problem with "belief." That it doesn't matter what kind of person you are or how good a life you lead. Or how charitable you've been. And it doesn't matter who you help or how much good you contribute to the world. All that matters is that you are saved, whatever that means. That you go to church, that you worship, and that you believe. And if you don't believe then you burn in hell for eternity? The message I'm hearing is "Love me and worship me or I will punish you." Um... No thanks. -

You can't act as if you had 85% of your stomach removed and your ghrelin production had been all but stopped. -
Well actually RJ the op is not even 4 weeks post op. So right now is not the time for her to eat a balanced diet. Right now is the time to focus on protein and hydration. The rest we can live without during those early stages. Muscle sparing protein is the goal. When you can't take in very much food you don't want to waste precious intake room on empty calories. And that's what whole wheat is.....empty calories. They may be better than white carbs, but by a very narrow margin. They still are not providing any valuable nutrition so why eat them in the early stages post op?

The gas in your upper body cavity that is making your shoulder hurt will not all pass as normal gas does. That is to say, it is not in you stomach or GI tract. It is within your body cavity itself. It will ease up in the days ahead and lots of walking is the best thing for it.

Anyone develop anxiety
Butterthebean replied to Aaronmadeit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every night when I lay down in bed....as soon as I get settled I have to get up and go downstairs and make sure the front door is locked. It always is, but I still have to check. Every time I pull out of a gas station, I get a 1/4 mile down the road and have to stop and make sure I didn't leave my credit card at the pump. I never have, but I always have this vision that I just did. I could go on and on. I've always been this way. If I'm stressed...these feelings get worse. -
You just did....on this thread.

How sweet. Everyone getting along. The chickens....the ministers...the atheists....and even Laura-ven...whatever disinfranchised group she belongs to....the inappropriate meme's group. -
Check with the gym and see if they have any classes you might be interested in. That might motivate you to show up. In the class you might meet some people with common interests...you know....people who wanna work out but would rather not have to. That's most of us if we're being honest.

Well, I feel pretty embarassed and stupid right now. Might have to reconsider the whole deal. Sorry if I offended anyone. Totally in jest Gman. Don't be offended. Wait...did someone say chicken? I miss Popeye's. -

Oh well jeez I've had conversations with women and quite enjoyed them...especially when they were civil (the women I mean). I also in my past have considered myself to be a woman (well a lesbian actually) so therefore I should be host over the powder room right? -

My wife and several others have had great success with the book New Rules Of Weightlifting For Women. It pretty much lays out a workout program that any beginner can follow. It's simple and involves mostly full body compound lifts as Aroundhky described. It also gives alot of detail as far as sets/reps/weight to be lifted. It's an all around great book for a beginner and they have other books once that one gets too easy....more advanced. As for the sauna....well my question would be what do you hope to accomplish from being in there? Because yes...as you alluded to, it will drain your body of needed Water. Which would be fine if you could simply drink it back, but if you can't then it might lead to problems.

Afraid to say there are so many variables that are out of our control. And so many anecdotal wisdoms that we don't know which is true and which isn't. They say if you lose too fast it will be worse....they don't know but they say it. Yes building muscle will help fill out the void created by lost fat, but if you have 100 plus pounds to lose and alot of it is in your abdomen, you can't build enough muscle there to make up for it. The best you can do is keep yourself healthy, keep hydrated and take care of your skin as much as possible. And keep in mind that while loose skin isn't terribly attractive....it's better and healthier than fat. Best of luck.

Oh wow...don't get me started. As to your "death is punishment enough" statement...I've always wondered why believers feared death in the first place. I would think they'd welcome it. Why wear seat belts? Why wear a helmet? Why have WLS? The sooner you die the sooner you go the the everlasting right? What am I missing? -
Maintainers, what is your carb level/intake like?
Butterthebean replied to Jenny12's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
My carb % is 20%. But I eat 2000 calories a day so that's about 100 grams. I do eat fiber one almost every day. I'll add it to my cottage cheese along with some sliced up strawberries and blueberries. Or just eat it straight.
