LOL.....yep, thats always my plan as well. Why let baked goodies just sit there? They aren't getting any better with age. And they aren't going to eat themselves.
-
Today was better. Although there were donuts....damn coworkers!

Just google resting metabolic test plus your city. Some bariatric centers do it. Some high tech fitness and training centers as well. I think I paid $120 to have that plus my VO2 max test. The VO2 max is basically the same test, but you're running hard on a treadmill or in some cases, a stationary bike. That test will tell you exactly how many calories you burn per hour while working out at a given heart rate. Problem is, they have to push you to your max heart rate. It's 5 minutes of hell.

Resting metabolic test. They put a face piece on you and you just sit there and breath for 10-15 minutes. It measures the amount of oxygen you use. When it's over the computer spits out your resting metabolic rate, the calories you need per day just to survive and maintain your weight.

I would say you're more of a petite fisher lady.

A bike ride is great. Also, some upper body resistance training is a nice supplement. Really, anything that is low impact and doesn't just destroy your legs would be fine. Even just walking is a great way to recover. -
You look terrific sleeve of steel...and apparently are quite the fisherperson. Great job.
-
Life is just hard today. But you're right. About everything. Went for a 4 mile run instead. I don't feel any better but the smell of donuts is gone at least.
-
I'm sorry for your dog Laura.

Read this.... "Hey, Fat girl.... Yes, you. The one feigning to not see me when we cross paths on the running track. The one not even wearing sports gear, breathing heavy. You’re slow, you breathe hard and your efforts at moving forward make you cringe. You cling shyly to the furthest corridor, sometimes making larger loops on the gravel ring by the track just so you’re not on it. You sweat so much that your hair is all wet. You rarely stay for more than 20 minutes at a time, and you look exhausted when you leave to go back home. You never talk to anyone. I’ve got something I’d like to say to you. You are awesome. If you’d look me in the eye only for an instant, you would notice the reverence and respect I have for you. The adventure you have started is tremendous; it leads to a better health, to renewed confidence and to a brand new kind of freedom. The gifts you will receive from running will far exceed the gigantic effort it takes you to show up here, to face your fears and to bravely set yourself in motion, in front of others. You have already begun your transformation. You no longer accept this physical state of numbness and passivity. You have taken a difficult decision, but one that holds so much promise. Every hard breath you take is actually a tad easier than the one before, and every step is ever so slightly lighter. Each push forward leaves the former person you were in your wake, creating room for an improved version, one that is stronger, healthier and forward-looking, one who knows that anything is possible. You’re a hero to me. And, if you’d take off the blaring headphones and put your head up for more than a second or two, you would notice that the other runners you cross, the ones that probably make you feel so inadequate, stare in awe at your determination. They, of all people, know best where you are coming from. They heard the resolutions of so many others, who vowed to pick up running and improve their health, “starting next week”. Yet, it is YOU who runs alongside, who digs from deep inside to find the strength to come here, and to come back again. You are a runner, and no one can take that away from you. You are relentlessly moving forward. You are stronger than even you think, and you are about to be amazed by what you can do. One day, very soon, maybe tomorrow, you’ll step outside and marvel at your capabilities. You will not believe your own body, you will realize that you can do this. And a new horizon will open up for you. You are a true inspiration. I bow to you." Reposted from http://flintland.blogspot.com/2012/05/hey-fat-girl.html -
Paul, my situation is slightly different....alright...completely different. My wife's energy level was already way above mine. I'm just catching up to her now. But honestly, I still enjoy sitting back in my recliner and doing nothing for a while...just not for as long as I used to.

The one I use is Universal Nutrition Casein Pro, but there are many good ones. It's a powder you have to mix. Not sure if they make any RTD casein shakes but you could google it. I like bodybuilding.com for buying Protein. You can read lots of reviews on every product. You could also try soy, or better yet some of the vegetarian Proteins like Sun Warrior. Also, you could just eat some cottage cheese....it's loaded with casein protein. Although...I just realized that casein is also dairy, just like whey. But if dairy is not your problem then that's okay. -

Check out this website... http://www.goodformrunning.com/ It has good info on form, pace, cadence and posture. Timing for steps is your cadence. Yes, 180 steps per minute is the general guideline...but remember it's just that, a guideline. Try to hit it, but if you're more comfortable a few beats up or down then that's okay. Breathing is more subjective. I started out puffing like I was blowing up a hot air balloon. Eventually I landed on 4 steps per breath. But now I don't even think about breathing. My breathing pace is dictated now by my speed. At first it's very hard to find a breathing rhythm, but very soon it gets to be automatic. -

Perhaps it's the whey. Do you have problems with any other dairy products? Have you considered supplementing some of your daily protein shakes with another type of protein? Casein is a great slow release protein so it's ideal right before bed. I would also think it would be ideal on a "fast" day where you are going long stretches between meals. -

Official results came in on my 10K race Saturday. Men's 40/over bracket....... I took first. Never in my life did I think that would happen. -
Uh....there was a time when I could eat my weight in cocoa pebbles.....and yes, I was an adult. I tried to make the healthy switch to Life cereal. Turns out, it's the same sugar just repackaged and marketed differently. I don't like the idea of eating cereal at all now....too processed. I will make the exception for a small serving of fiber one only because of the benefits. But I look at it as medicinal, not a meal.

That picture makes me want to take a nap. The dog just makes it look so inviting.
