Uh....wait till I get you home. No. Marky Mark and Den-ZEL....as my wife puts it.

Fiddle....overtraining is likely going to cause lack of athletic gains...possibly a reversal of gains. If you aren't having that, it's more likely hydration and/or fuel. At least, that's my uninformed opinion.

Damn I just ate some popcorn at the movies.....but I didn't drink for 30 minutes before or after so I'm golden.

I thought a sleeve couldn't stretch....even one made from Japanese noodles. Unless you eat Cheetos.

Oooooooohhhhhhhh.....high GI carbs from day 1. If they want us to get in our Protein they ought to use a hollowed out Oscar Meyer Weiner.

Interesting study....and perhaps I'm missing something, but it still looks like correlation. Even in the study, they cannot "prove" cause, they only list "possible causes for shift work related weight gain." To me, that's like the correlation between watching too much TV and obesity. Yes, people who watch alot of TV may be more likely to be overweight, but watching the TV is not the cause. And correlation is not causation. Never mind....I'm not trying to get picky. I'm a shift worker, but I'm making plans to give it up. Trying to eat right and stay fit are difficult enough. Doing it while being a shift worker takes it to a whole other level of difficulty, but I'm living proof it can be done. -
Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

Yeah week 3 to 4 is a big jump. But you're going to surprise yourself. Remember, you can't make gains if you aren't pushing past your limits a little bit. In running, as in life, you've got to be a little uncomfortable to grow. -

Regain? Is it easier to get on top of after surgery?
Butterthebean replied to spangebabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 15 months post op, and for me, it's easier in the sense that I cannot eat a whole pizza, or a bucket of chicken. But I can eat all the candy and ice cream I want with no restriction. Even the amount of healthy food I can eat now is fairly high. I typically eat 2000 calories a day and can hit 2500-3000 with no problem....and that's eating alot of lean Protein and healthy fats, fairly low carb and very few "treats." I can gain weight fairly easily just by not logging my food for a few days, eating whatever I want and indulging in too many sweets. I've bounced up as much as 17 pounds in 2 weeks since surgery. Of course, I can get it right back off just going back to my tried and true methods of protein, Water, logging and exercise. There is also a reduced metabolism component to losing weight that will reduce your daily calorie expenditure over time....massive weight loss and prolonged calorie restriction contribute to this. Thus, making it easier to gain weight on less calories than needed before surgery. Lifting weights and building muscle help with this, but only "help", not prevent. However....yes....it's much easier now. The surgery gave me an edge. A window of time to lose weight and rethink my priorities. I got my head on straight. I changed my lifestyle. I changed my relationship with food....basically I broke up with food, although I'm still tempted to go back for a little post break up indulgence every now and then. The honeymoon phase was that window of time. And by the time it was over I knew I never wanted to go back. I have to work much harder now than I did 12 months ago, but I'm motivated to do it. I can't imagine quitting and going back....I won't. -

No disrespect intended with my previous comment or now....but the phrase "if you don't like something...move on" is basically saying "keep your differing opinion to yourself." We can all disagree politely and tactfully, and anyone can get as spiritual as they want to be....but I just don't like people trying to silence the opposing voices, that's my only complaint. -

Interesting. I'd like to see those because I've only seen studies that show a correlation between lack of sleep and weight gain, not proof. Great thread. I'm a chemical plant operator (no....not a telephone type operator). I make detergents that go into your car's engine oil. But I'm about to quit to go back to school full time to be a vet tech. Ssshhhhh....don't tell them. Oh yeah....part time massage therapist and part time bicycle mechanic as well. I stay busy. -

Um....yes, snide remarks are bad....but differing opinions are always welcome and should not be discouraged. If you want to keep it all "pro-god" I suggest you take it into the religious sub forum. Seems only fair. -

I keep a link to this article in my sig. It will explain what's happening to you....a stall at this point is very common so don't let it discourage you..... Here's the info.... Weight Loss Stall or Plateau A weight loss stall or plateau is an extended period of time during reducing efforts where is there is no weight loss according to the scale and no loss of inches according to the tape measure. This is why it is so important to take your body measurements before surgery, so you'll have a reference as your weight loss progresses post-op. We suggest you take measurements of your chest, waist and hip, neck, upper arm, thigh and calf. Be aware it is very common for your weight loss to "stall" shortly after surgery. Diana explains the reason for this below. The Inevitable Stall By Diana C. A "stall" a few weeks out is inevitable, and here's why. Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of Water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet. As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a saber tooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored. Breathe, and fuggedaboudit for a few days. What You Can Do About a Stall or Plateau If you are experiencing a post-op weight loss stall or plateau further out there are a few possible causes. First, check that are you really in a stall. If the scale has stopped moving you may be losing inches, so check your measurements. Too Many Carbs? Carbohydrates can start sneaking into your foods without you being aware of how quickly they are adding up. For more information on carbs, see our section on Carbohydrates. If you are struggling with your weight loss you may want to examine your daily carb count. You can try to keep your carbs under 50g a day and see if that makes a difference in your weight loss. Do not eat carbs before bedtime as it triggers insulin and initiates fat storage. There are some great web site resources you can use to keep track of what you are eating. Fit Day Spark People - If you join Spark People also join the DS group. The Daily Plate Calorie King For more tips on keeping a food journal see the Personal Nutrition Guide. Eating Enough? If you are under-eating or go more than 4-5 hours without eating, your body will shift into fasting mode, slow your metabolism and conserve your stored energy (fat). This can contribute to a weight loss stall or plateau. Make sure you are eating small meals or small Snacks throughout the day and also ensure you meet your daily Protein requirements. Try eating some protein with every meal or snack. For more information on protein requirements see our section on Protein. Drinking Enough? An adequate level of water in your body aids in the effective breakdown of fat. The daily minimum recommendation is 64 Fluid oz of water a day. If you are in ketosis you will need to drink even more water to ensure the ketones are flushed out of your system. You may also need more than the minimum amount of water if you are exercising or live in a warmer or dry environment. Exercising? Exercise can increase your metabolism and burn fat. Strength training will build muscles and will boost fat burning. In a stall you can try increasing your volume of exercise or changing up your routine to overcome a weight loss stall or plateau. If you have been doing mainly aerobic activity, try doing a bit of strength training, and if you have been doing mainly strength training, try an aerobic work-out. The High Fat - High Calorie Stall Buster Many DSers swear by the fat/calorie shock as an effective weight loss stall or plateau buster. Having a day of higher fat and calorie eating followed by a returning to consistent low carb eating can sometimes "shock" your body back into weight loss mode. -
That's okay....if Emily Blunt or Sandra Bullock ever show up....the missus is leaving.....although she's telling me right now if it's Sandra, she's staying!!! Woohoo!!

Your weekly total is more important than daily totals. Just make sure that weekly total is still where you want it to be.
-
Uh.....you had me.....right up till the end where you said in 3 weeks you're only down 11 pounds. So.....you're losing 3.6 pounds per week....approximately. In 6 months that's 93 pounds. In a year that's 186. If you can't be happy with that..........
