    big veins tonight

Fiddle.....I think we talked about this a little the other day. To many folks here, you're going above and beyond. Most of us just want good health, you obviously want more. You want to compete, to win, to be the very best you can. I absolutely can find no fault in that. But as I said the other day, there is a gray area where a little help suddenly becomes too much. Where that line is....I'm not qualified to say. But you really need to find that line and draw it in the sand for yourself so you know not to go over it. And if you're playing with products that you aren't fully informed about, you may be over that line. I'm sure in the world of competitive crossfit, all kinds of performance enhancing supplements (drugs) are the rule rather than the exception. It seems to be the case in every competitive sport these days. But I'm sure you watch the news enough to see 2 things happening on a regular basis. 1.... athletes causing themselves serious health concerns because they over did it, and 2...athletes getting busted for cheating. All these athletes started out just like you, driven to be the best. But they did not recognize when they took things too far until their whole world came crashing down around them. He careful man. Temper your desire with some caution. Remember why you did all this....for your health.

Interesting turn this thread has taken. And while I don't believe that homophobia is solely a Christian vice, I do believe that politicians have linked the 2 issues together by trying to legislate their homophobia onto the rest of society in the name of their religion and "family values." Oh f**k how I hate that term, particularly because of the way it's been twisted to be so synonymous with suppression of those not like the mainstream. But I too like to make statements. There was a time before my surgery when Chik FIL A got a large percentage of my paycheck every week....me totally unaware of how they were investing their profits. When I found out I had to quit them even though theirs was about the only fast food I wanted on a daily basis. They seem to have recovered financially from the loss of my business, but still I'm not going back.

Oh I don't take it as a slight....it's all good. Your stuff must be different than mine cause my fiber one looks more like chow mein noodles. At home we call them fiber sticks.

    Can I Run?

C25K is an app you download on your phone. It's short for "couch to 5k". It starts out as walking/running intervals. You just hit start and follow the instructions. It will tell you when to walk and when to run. Each week the runs are slightly longer and the walking is slightly shorter. By the end you're running 5K without stopping. It's a great way to systematically build up your distance. You can advance at your own pace and the weekly increases along with rest days allow you to slowly build up your endurance without even thinking about it. Next thing you know you're doing some serious running. Like I said before, the feeling of going from obese to being a runner is an accomplishment that's hard to match.

I don't know....I eat the rabbit food as well. As cheap as it is at target....id say throw that box out and get some fresh stuff. LOL In the old days a box of sugary cereal would last me 3 -4 days max. Now, even though I eat the rabbit food nearly everyday, a box lasts me 10 days or so. I just can't eat too much.....or else.

    Emotional Eating

My condolences Nicole. I can only echo what Laura said....the desire to eat excessively is only an attempt to dull the pain. Sadly, it won't do it. It will only distract you temporarily. Focus on family and friends, a much better distraction....and healthier.

    Complex carb ideas

Fiddle....one of my favorites is 1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup sliced strawberries, 1/4 cup fiber one cereal. Knowing you...you could easily add some protein powder to this to up the protein. For me, it's a nice light pre run sweet snack. My wife doubles those measurements plus adds chopped walnuts and has that for breakfast most days. It's tasty.

    Can I Run?

Fantastic. Have you considered the C25K program? If you ran a mile without stopping it may be easy for you. You could always jump ahead to week 3 or 4 if it is too easy. But congrats. I started running at 4 months out. 10 months later I've ran 2 half marathons and I'm training for a full. It's a marvelous activity....so much more than just a calorie burn. It's meditative. It's also an accomplishment that no elliptical machine can give you. Before this I never ran more than 100 yards without clutching my chest. Now I'm running half marathons. I scoff when anyone tells me there's something I can't do now. Check out www.goodformrunning.com Great website for proper running form. It really helps prevent injuries that are so common among runners. Good luck and keep doing it.
  14. Xena. You look great. Glad to hear the surgery wasn't too bad for you.

    Favorite love to hate exercise

Another former back catcher here and I have trouble going deep enough on squats as well. I do better with the sumo squat...it feels more comfortable going deep. I think playing catcher they always taught me to stay on my toes....doing back squats you have to get back on your heels and I always feel as though I'm going to fall over backward. As far as lunges....I don't love to hate them. I just hate them. I think lunges are Satan's curtsey.

Mourning the loss of my post-op taste buds

I can see where that would be traumatic...losing the taste for certain bad foods, only to have it come back. A cruel joke by the sleeve gods. I never lost my tastes, or my appetite. I've always gotten hungry and no food has ever negatively affected my sleeve. Some days I'm not even sure I got sleeved....except when I look in the mirror. That's a new me.

I can't tolerate pizza.....without extra pepperoni. Seriously.....everything goes down with no problem.

Is this a sign of overtraining?

Can I say.... Yes, one persons experience is not necessarily everyone's. But for me, lack of food before a workout does not make me nauseous.... Weak possibly, but not nauseous. I've taken many early morning fasted runs of 3-5 miles with no problem. Now on a very hot day (which is all we have in Houston right now) I can feel nauseous as soon as I take a drink during a run. But it happens whether I'm fasting or not.... I'll take a a sip while still running or I'll stop to walk for a sec, and feel nauseous for 30 seconds or so. I always assumed it was just the jostling of the stomach while running.... But it's definitely worse right now during the extreme heat...... for me.
