    Bougie size

Here's some high dollar bougies and their different sizes. You can see how little difference it actually makes. Not to mention that some doctors sew tight around the bougie and some sew lose.

Why is this forum even here?

Question....what constitutes ranting about other members? I know calling someone by name....but what about when a poster is vague but just singles out a group of people? I've seen many a thread get shut down because it singles out newer members and insults them, but there are threads all the time that will to a certain degree insult the vets because why? They know what they're talking about? http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/90614-does-it-really-matter/#entry946864 As an example. Not trying to make a big deal of this thread here but it does that very thing. As a vet I read that thread and feel like whatever knowledge I might have to share with newer members is looked down upon. These threads happen regularly and they don't seem to get shut down. The original post in this very thread has the same tone. It sounds a bit like a double standard. We shouldn't criticize someone because they're new and don't know as much as we'd like them to....but we can criticize those who do know....because they know and are trying to share that information. So where is the line drawn? Oh....and to add.....look at all those dots. I must be a judgmental ass.

There's a symphony in my tummy...

Some days my sleeve sounds like it's trying to call the mother ship. I keep expecting an alien baby to pop out. Hasn't happened yet but surely all those noises can't be originating from my tiny sleeve.
  13. I'm glad to hear you're facing your fear Gamergirl. I can't speak for anyone else, but I told everyone who I needed to tell beforehand, and everyone who has asked since. And in my experience, EVERYONE asks. Every single friggin person who has complimented me on my weight loss has followed it up with the question..."how did you do it?" To me, saying diet and exercise was only half an answer. I think we all should answer the question in whatever way we're most comfortable....but by all mans be prepared to answer it because it will get asked alot.

    My husband is killing me!

I recently had chocolate covered bacon for the first time (gotta love those flea market food kiosks). It tastes just like it sounds.....only better.

Last time I checked, this was the "Man Room"

Maybe I'm weird, but it just doesn't bother me. Women are reading even if they aren't posting. I'm just not bothered by the gender of the people reading what I write. If I was, I'd keep it to myself. I've been on plenty of male dominated forums and they're all full of posturing and Internet tough guys. Plus, if I ask a question about... Oh I don't know..... penis size, surely there is a female nurse or just an experienced woman around who has seen a penis or 2 and who might be able to answer the question. Basically, I think they know way more about us than we know about them.

Can't I just hit the stupid people?

So.....innocent question here.....does "women's section" translate to plus size section? If so....yes you may hit the b***h. Twice.

    Stress cravings

Having an incredibly stressful day. On a 1-10 scale it's a 47. And I swear I'm smelling donuts. I don't want to eat them. I have no appetite today, but I'm smelling them everywhere. The aroma is so strong and seems so real. I hate this.

Mourning the loss of my post-op taste buds

Yes I leave it whole....just get them good and oily with EVOO, I think 375 for 15-20 minutes, depending on how crispy you want them. I like them crispy....they come out tasting like green French fries.

    Non believers

Do I mind? I'm breaking out the jiffy pop and enjoying this thread immensely. I'm so glad it hasn't turned into a flame war (I was going to say holy war but that seems....antagonistic). Anyway, to answer fiddles question....yes I married the daughter of a fundamentalist southern baptist preacher .....was he ever unhappy! My wife's family was all about the church. FIL preached (he was also the mayor and high school teacher for 30+ years in their tiny town), MIL was/is the church music director and my wife and 3 siblings basically made up the church choir. They were like the white evangelical Jackson 5. There was never a wedding or funeral in which they did not sing...unless it was a rare non church goer. It was ALL about the church for them. But my wife fell a good ways from the tree...so did one of her sisters. And even though they are both still spiritual people, neither of them feel attached to the dogmatic views that dominated their childhood. They are both very liberal religiously and politically. And they both moved far from home. Not surprisingly, the other 2 siblings are still very conservative and never moved away from the home town area....and still pray and vote much the same way their dad does. As for me and my wife, I think it took her a minute to accept the fact that I never went to church and never was going to be a believer. But as she got to know me, she realized that I was a moral and principled man regardless of how I spent my Sundays. She's open minded enough to accept that those are the things that are important to her....my lack of belief is just not an issue for her. When we met she was attending a very liberal church in Houston that she really liked. The kind of place that openly accepted mixed race families and same sex couples....all the things that would have been shunned in her fathers church. And the congregation all shared a similar mindset about the teachings of the bible....that basically it was the spirit of the word, and not the LITERAL words, that were most important. She loved that church but sadly we moved out to a rural area last year and no such liberal churches exist around here. We're hoping to relocate soon, and a good open minded church is one of the first things on her list to find. As for her family accepting me...they all have come to the same realization she did, that I'm a good man worth having in the family despite my unwillingness to believe....all accept the FIL who still gives me the stinky eye every chance he gets. He's pretty sure I've condemned his daughter to damnation, but he realizes his daughter is way to independent to let him influence who she will or won't marry. And that's his fault caused he raised her that way.

I've made the kale chips.....not even close to a substitute for real chips...they are good though. I'd actually rather make oven roasted asparagus. You make it the same way as kale chips...just with asparagus. Much more filling.
