Ate 1660 cals yesterday, am in full panic mode
Butterthebean replied to Globetrotter's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I worked both those calculators.....the first one gave me a BMR of 2150. The second gave me a BMR of 2900 with a TDEE of 4100! . Now I had my BMR tested a few months ago and it was 2174, so the first calculator was very close. Everyone should keep in mind that your proportion of lean body mass to fat will affect your BMR, and those calculators have now way to account for that. They only guess. They also cannot account for hormonal differences in each of us that may give us tendencies to store fat easily. And I suspect all of us here are all quite well conditioned to store fat. -

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

I will not get on my usual soapbox about cushioned running shoes and heel striking being a knee killer.....but I will say that some strength training does wonders to bolster the supportive tissues around the knee. If you do alot of cardio, sometimes the strength element gets forgotten about. I love to do sumo squats and dead lifts to really strengthen the legs and core, but I try to also throw in some leg extensions and leg curls at least once a week to keep the supportive muscles active and strong. If I forget to do them for a while, I start to get aches on the inner portion of my knee....especially on stairs. -
I kinda wish bad foods made me sick..

If you're referring to me, you did not and I'm not trying to offend you either. Just offering my opinion based on what I've seen from so many others and what I went through personally. -

For now. At some point everyone's capacity and hunger goes back up. For some people way up. Read the veterans forum a while. There aren't many people there who can just eat what they want with no thought to self control and expect the limits of the sleeve to maintain their weight. -

Here's what it looks like. Somewhere in there is a link to that article. And I'm in Texas so it's 5pm here. Just guessing but are you down under? -

Sig = signature. If you go in the website, it's the information below someone's post. Under everyone of mine there is a link to the article. I thought at one time we could see them on the mobile apps, but not anymore. -

Definitely that piece of crap. And anything "no fat" or "low fat". -

Proud of ya....careful, you're gonna get addicted. Now you know....a good pair of cycling shorts are worth their weight in gold.

Just be patient. Keep hydrated. The energy will come back soon enough. If you can, walking in the morning is a great way to start the day. You get in your exercise while you're still fresh, and it gives you a boost for the rest of the day.

Early for a stall?
Butterthebean replied to dustin551's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone, there is a link in my sig explaining the 3 week stall. You're not doing anything wrong and there is really nothing you can or should do to "fix" this. Just give it time and it will correct itself. Check out the link and don't stress too much about it. And yes, the "3 week" stall is just a ball park time frame, not an exact term. -
Yeah, I usually don't eat that much, but by mixing it with the fruit, it's a nice treat. I also will put in fiberone for crunch (and fiber of course). My wife will put in chopped walnuts instead because she's doing Paleo.

SLF1027....you should contact the moderators and ask them to move this thread to the post op section. You'll get alot more responses there, and that is the appropriate place for this thread. -
Fiddle... is this what you use? http://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Standard-Chocolate-Supplement/dp/B004Y49IH4/ref=sr_1_5?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1376962532&sr=1-5&keywords=casein

Great tip. Casein is great bed time...a nice slow release protein. I haven't found too many casein powders I truly love by themselves, but I do mix my casein and whey sometimes to make my own blend. I've also really learned to love cottage cheese, which is an excellent source of casein, and I will eat it at night as a sweet snack with some chopped up strawberries and blueberries. It satisfies my sweet tooth while giving me that protein.

Nicole...I think I remember you saying you were getting your nursing degree...right? I know you're not far from me, where are you going to school? Looks like I'll be going to Lone Star Community College in Tomball.

Little tip for the guys....when it's real hot and you know you're going to get extra sweaty...cover up those nipples with some tape, or band aids...or something. Bloody nipples are not pleasant. Don't ask me how I know.
