    Long term prognosis

And when they say "lost 60% of excessive BMI" what does that mean? Does that mean 60% of the difference between presleeve BMI and "normal" BMI? If so I'm way past that. Or did they mean 60% of excess weight?

    Long term prognosis

Ok so I'm still reading but someone explain to me what this means without using the metric system or calculus. "However, 34.3% of patients who had sleeve gastrectomy as their primary procedure and 50% of those who'd had it after a failed gastric banding still had a BMI above 35 kg/m2 after 5 years."

    Suggestion for the vets forum

Yeah but are y'all ok with my suggestion to let any post op respond to threads if they have something to add?

    Just got home Panniculectomy

Hey congrats on getting your surgery. I just got mine scheduled for next month and I'm excited/nervous.

    not feeling full

I think this is very common. I too noticed an increase in eating capacity at the 6-7 month point. The key for me was just to continue to monitor my calorie intake and keep it consistent with my needs rather than eat to fullness.

    I WENT MOUNTAIN BIKING!

Taint you? I was sure it was.

    I WENT MOUNTAIN BIKING!

Those are the straightest eyebrows I've ever seen. Not that anything else there is natural, but those just jumped right out. She had to have used a ruler when she painted them on.

Yeah....I call BS on that calculator.

    I WENT MOUNTAIN BIKING!

At least use one of my post op pics.

    I WENT MOUNTAIN BIKING!

Mine only had 2 wheels but it was comfy. This was way before surgery but I put many miles on it. Damn I really had on some short shorts that day.....don't look.

I was actually thinking of the riding prop.

    I WENT MOUNTAIN BIKING!

Yeah I was reading that on the edge of my chair thinking...."hmmm, where is this going?" I had to make double sure I wasn't in the powder room.

That second to the last one is not a question. That's just hunger talking.

Uh..... I haven't lost weight in 5 minutes....what do I do? How much weight did you lose in your first 2 days after surgery? Do I really have to exercise? When can I eat twinkies again? Any more?
  15. Well, you already got my favorite one. They really should be required reading when you go to your first doctors visit. But honestly, even if they were, most of us wouldn't remember it.....all we can focus on at that point is how much weight we're going to lose. For me, the second my doc told me his goal weight for me.....I didn't hear anything else. I was like...are you flicking kidding? I was heavier than that in junior high. But it really needs to be pounded home before surgery. That 6 months I spent visiting with the nutritionist, we could have spent a little more time on "realistic expectations" IMO, and a little less on how many calories are in a cucumber.

    Morning Wood

Weiners seems to be the only thing separating us from the rest of the forum so we may as well talk about them. Yes, I can say, you will get your inches....but more importantly, your wood! Do not under estimate the impact high body fat has on testosterone levels. Once that body fat goes away, you'll be like a teenager again. Only now you know what to do with it.

    Suggestion for the vets forum

Maybe we need an "ask a vet" forum. It could be the opposite of what I suggested above...anyone could start a thread, but only vets could respond. Maybe we don't really need that but when I was pre-op and reading all this conflicting crazy advice on these boards, I would have loved this.

    negative calories?

Eventually, you're going to want to get your calories up. You cannot sustain a negative calorie balance for long....not and expect to be healthy. It's common in the first few months, and that's why high protein and resistance training is so important. It helps slow down muscle catabolism. I've read alot of talk lately on this forum about people thinking it's wrong to be eating high protein, low carb diets.....but this is why you do it, at least in the early months. To spare all your lean body mass.
