10 things that will happen to you when you start Cross Fit
Butterthebean replied to gamergirl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
That's a great article. I'd love to do crossfit. If only there was a box within 50 miles of me. Maybe someday. -
Are the machines reliable for counting calories used?
Butterthebean replied to BookWormJoy's topic in Fitness & Exercise
From what I've seen, all the machines way over estimate calories burned. A good HR monitor is your best bet. -
That's terrific. You're right on schedule to get 100...do you realize that? Amazing!!!

She may get paroled sooner or later. Then....watch out!

Up to 53 miles as of day 11. I really didn't think I'd get half way so quickly. I'm going to keep going as far as I can till 9/30. Good job everybody. Stick with it. You're all doing great.

Just edited the pic....it's bigger now. I didn't realize how small it was.

Everybody is doing great this weekend. Keep it up. I ran 4 miles this morning on a new trail....will not be doing that trail again. Nasty horse flies molested me the entire time. Those suckers bite. But after 10 days my total is 47.3. Tomorrow I intend to blow by 50.

Those are the Vibram 5 finger shoes. I do 90% of my running in those. I do have the Merrell trail gloves and road gloves. They are both great shoes and excellent for running as long as your form is good.

From today's 10K.

I'm all for it. Welcome aboard.

Ran my fastest ever 10K this morning. 66 minutes. Brings my total to 43.3 miles. Loving this challenge. Thank all of y'all that jumped on board. Keep building momentum day by day and you will surprise yourself with what you can do.

Didn't run yesterday. Didn't sleep much last night. But made myself get up this morning and go to the trail. When I got out of the car it was almost cool outside. A small miracle for us this time of year. I ran 5.6 miles on a trail I've never been on before. Terrific trail. Had a great run. Didn't see or hear another soul. It's like I had the whole forest to myself. So, total for day 8....37.1 miles. Keep up the great work everybody. Y'all motivate me.

It could be your fuel intake....or you may need to just go slower. I could never stand to eat all the carbs everyone says runners need to eat. I tried....I really did, but they make me feel ill. But the one thing that always has increased my distance is running in my fat burning heart rate zone, rather than jumping up into the higher cardio zones. This does mean running slower, but youngest to run much longer and with less chance of injury. A great book on the subject is called "slow burn" by stu Mittleman. He teaches you how to run in the fat burning zone so you don't run out of glycogen and crash. It's a great book. The guy ran 1100 miles in 10 days. He knows a thing or 2. You could also look into the Jeff Galloway method (he has his own website, google him). It's a run/walk/run method. His specialty is getting people through their first marathon. I've seen many people at races doing this method and at the end they are very fresh.
