random musings from a really bored woman...lol
Butterthebean replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
No doubt....that damn binder is like something they used to get heretics to confess back in the dark ages. I'm 3 weeks post op today and feeling and walking very well. I didn't think I'd feel this good this soon. Yes, I'm bored and yes I feel cooped up. I've gone skinny clothes shopping several times since the last drain came out but haven't bought a damn thing. I'm going again tomorrow and I'm determined to buy something. I need a new outfit for an upcoming wedding. Definitely need something because all I have in my closet that fits are running clothes. I'd wear that to the wedding but my wife seems to think it will be inappropriate. And of course, she's in charge. One thing I did to make my sitting around time more enjoyable....I bought the world's most comfortable flannel robe and some great new house shoes. So I may be channeling my grandma now....but I swear this robe makes me not wanna leave the house....or even get dressed. It's that comfy. If you really need to get a drain out, you're gonna have to work hard to top my "cat bit a hole in it" trick. My surgeon told me that was a medical first. I will admit it sounds alot like "my dog ate my homework." But it worked. It's weird getting those things pulled out though right? Nothing quite like 18" of plastic tubing being pulled out of your body while you're wide awake. I may have more random musings later. Right now I need to freshen up my hot chocolate. -
You better hurry. Another week and I don't think you'll be able to catch me.
-
The month isn't over. I may catch you yet.

You can do it RoxFC. Don't give up. We have 10 days left. I plan to get at least 5 miles Halloween night. No distance is too far to walk for free candy.
-
Redbean, you don't have to get any specific mileage. The whole idea is simply to do more than you would otherwise. To push yourself slightly out of your comfort zone. By logging the miles, you know exactly what you've done. Then, next month, aim to do just a little bit more. You can do it.

The vitamix is an awesome machine. It will liquify anything. But it's not really necessary. That being said, I still use mine all the time to make green shakes, mainly because I will not eat enough veggies otherwise.

Missus Butter ran a total of 10 miles this weekend, bringing her total to 61.1 for the month.

Tummy tuck today!
Butterthebean replied to Butterthebean's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I live in the Houston area and I went to a plastic surgeon. I am 17 months post op from VSG but the main thing the surgeon cared about was that I had been holding a steady weight for at least 6 months. -
I am furious with my surgeon at the moment... This is NOT my fault!

Tummy tuck today!
Butterthebean replied to Butterthebean's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
At this point the incision does not itch much, it really hasn't. But there are odd pockets of numbness right next to areas that seem more sensitive than ever. It's a weird feeling. And, since I've owned this house, I've never put a roll on the roller thingie. I hate the roller thingies. I like the roll in my hand. That's how I roll. -
anybody own a vitamix substitute?
Butterthebean replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Food and Nutrition
The vitamix doesn't juice. It liquifies. I believe the ninja does the same thing. You drink everything because everything is blended up and nothing is left behind. -
Hey. I'm 3 weeks post op from my TT....I got my last drain out after 16 days post op so you may not have all drains out by Christmas. But honestly they are not that bad. The binder and the walking hunched over are much more of a pain than the drains. Good luck with your surgery. I don't regret mine one bit.

I will regret this for the rest of my life
Butterthebean replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well honestly, your regret seems to be based on the false assumption that most of the world has....that anyone can lose the weight if they just eat less and exercise more. And yet the statistics do not bare that out. Less than 10% of obese people are able to lose the weight and keep it off. It's not from a lack of trying by those people. Indeed most if not all of us tried and failed many many times. There are many factors both psychological and physiological that make it improbable for most of us to lose the weight and keep it off. The surgery is not the easy way out. It's not a short cut and it's not cheating. It's a tool to help you overcome those obstacles unfairly put in our way....those obstacles that most non obese people know nothing about. Do not feel guilty and do not regret your decision. I am almost 18 months post op. I've lost my weight, started a new life and found many reasons for living that I never dreamed existed. Those things would not be any sweeter had I lost the weight without surgery. -

I'm almost 3 weeks post op from my TT and I'm wearing something similar to that garment now. There a bunch of them here.... http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/product/tummytuck/garments/index.vm Even before my surgery, I was wearing something similar for the last year for running. It kept things from flopping about that shouldn't be flopping. Now I'm wearing it under doctors orders for the next month or so.

My babies eat alot more people food now that I'm sleeved....but they are eating much healthier than they used to. They're basically eating paleo these days. Plus getting way more activity with me than they used to.
