Careful. It's my new crossover addiction. It will suck you in, and next thing you know the grand kids are in college.

Thanks Ken. Although I was kinda enjoying being a bandster for a day.

Poll: Do you let Food sit in your esophagus? Or wash it down with liquids?
Butterthebean replied to NaNa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm hoping in this new version the block feature extends to the mobile apps as well. Previously on VST it did not....and the crazies were always infecting my iPhone. -
Ok...here's a new one. When I post to threads it doesn't automatically subscribe me to the thread like it used to. But even worse, if I do subscribe to a thread, then respond to it again....it unsubscribes me. That's aggravating.
-
Well first I could not start a new thread or respond. I'm on the mobile iPad app Nd those options just weren't in the drop down menu. So I closed the app and reopened and they were there...e.then they left again.....then came back. So I went to the main website but there is only lapband forums there.....I can't see anything else. I clicked on the "if you're experiencing technical issues" thing.....and it wouldn't let me send anything. LOL. It said I needed to fill in the detailed description of my problem. I had...still wouldn't send it. That's something I think needs to work today. You need that right? I guess for now I can post. I hope it stays that way. Oh....PMs.....not working? I keep getting a pop up saying I don't have access to them. Yes I'm signed in. I can see mine, just can't respond to any of them.

I'm with you Cheri. I'm all for people keeping it private. But I've heard of more than one person whose plan was to claim some other medical condition to explain weight loss....including one who wanted to claim cancer. That was the true icing on the cake.

Daily Protein, Sugar, Fat Goals/limits
Butterthebean replied to outwithbenjiboi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What worked for me was 40% Protein, 40% fat and 20% carbs. So at 600 calories that's 60g protein, 27g fat and 30g carbs. I used this all through my losing phase. Then when I hit maintenance I raised my calories and changed my ratios to more like 45-50% fat, 35% protein and 15-20% carbs. This works very well for me...fueling my long runs. I've never had a problem with healthy fats and I don't believe the old no fat/low fat line of thinking is healthy. Dietary fats do not equate to body fat, they equate to fuel. Anyway....just my approach. Certainly not the only way to do things. -

Just curious.....which doctor said this? You've stated so many times how bariatric surgeons in this country don't know anything, so how could the surgeon who doled out this little gem about hypoglycemia 30 years post op be trusted to know anything at all? Perhaps he's just as ignorant as the rest of the bariatric surgeons we used. After all, where are his YouTube videos backing up his claims? -
Maybe now we might get some non sleevers to join in the fun.

Apparently We All Kvetch The Same Way

Some of us still have our sense of humor...and use it as often as possible to distract ourselves from our sagging skin and thinning hair. -
Apparently We All Kvetch The Same Way

I thought we sleevers couldn't kvetch because of the lack of ghrelin. -

If that's the case then what was the point in combining everything? -
Help! My family ordered pizza and I'm on pre-op!
Butterthebean replied to Kyrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please I hope nobody reading this takes this statement seriously. Follow your docto'rs orders pertaining to your preop diet. The time it takes to shrink your liver is totally dependent on your liver and no one else's. If your surgeon thinks your liver is not sufficiently reduced come surgery time, a responsible surgeon will simply close you back up and you will have gone through the whole process for nothing. If he's cavalier then he could perform the surgery anyway, possibly risking a lacerated liver which can be fatal. -
Same here. First day glitches I'm sure.

Laura ven: "of couse not darling you look yummy." BCA : "but what if this offends someone and I get banned?" Laura ven: "don't worry darling, you'll always be welcome in the WLS forum of my love. Now work it you sexy beast. Make love to the camera. Love momma Laura."

15 Things Jesus Did Not Say
Butterthebean replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OMFG....I'm dying here. I would like to add.... "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the gays." -
Hi guys. As a sleever and former member of VST, I wanna say that I hope this new site does not turn into a big US vs THEM flame war. I was on VST for 2 years and rarely saw a thread hating on the band or any other surgery. Sure, about once a day somebody asked if they should have the sleeve or RNY, and everyone there suggested the sleeve because we were all sleevers. Also, there was (is) a whole subforum for band to sleeve revisions. For whatever reason those folks didn't succeed with the band so they moved on to the sleeve. But even then there wasn't a lot of band bashing....just people trying to find something that would work for them. I guess my point is I really don't think it's going to be a big problem....I hope not. After all....we are all WLS patients right? So let's not look for trouble before it breaks out.
