<Edited> I'm from a small town. We don't even have our own post office. No red lights either. Just 3 BBQ joints and 19 churches. They closed down a local gas station and the town's unemployment rate doubled. It's just that small. But I didn't move out here because I don't like diversity....it's because I don't like concrete. Nana....people aren't completely upset with you because of the information you share. It's because of your dismissive and condescending attitude toward everyone who doesn't agree with you. I don't pull punches or tip toe around people's feelings....but I also don't laugh at them like you have. You are giving no respect at all.

Congrats. You're on your way. You're a runner now. Nice.

Show off.

Congrats. That's awesome. Keep going. You won't regret it. Good luck on that 10K. Let us know how it goes. Give you energy? Yeah....it's like one of those Ponzi schemes.....you get you're later.

That's great to hear. Hopefully you'll be doing a 5K soon right? Best of luck. -
It's not a tummy....it's a pouch....er....sleeve.

Did that seem pervish? I will admit it was a bit cliche and cheesy. Still......

This thread is useless without pics.

This makes total sense. After 18 months I'm tired of being the guy that lost all the weight. It's not even about the surgery anymore....although everyone knows about it. It's the "wow....how much weight have you lost?" Or...."how much more are you going to lose?" Well since I've been in maintenance for 9 months I'd say the answer is the same as last time you asked me. Really, sometimes I'd like to get some business cards made that say "yes I had WLS....I lost alot of weight...now leave me the fuck alone."

Tremendous achievement. Wtg. -
So did you reduce carbs? And that helped? Because I had these same symptoms way before surgery and reducing my carb intake helped me tremendously. But that was then. I'm not having any symptoms now but curious.

I'm actually in Tarkington Prairie which is about 40 miles north of Baytown. Between Dayton and Cleveland. Just drive till you're lost in the woods, turn right, go past the second broken mailbox and you're there.

What's funny is in alot of cases that's not even true. Plenty of people don't exercise and quite a few here have an anti-diet mentality. In all sincerity, I'm wondering what those people say. Not poking fun here I'm truly curious.

Tummy Tuck on Halloween
Butterthebean replied to ♕ajtexas♕'s topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi y'all. I'm a sleever and I had my TT on Sept 30. 12 more days till I'm released to go back to running.....can't wait. Even though I had no band to unfill, like y'all I had a tremendous amount of restriction those first few days post op. Nothing too severe but it was definitely a few days of liquids only. Of course now I feel like I could eat the whole thanksgiving turkey in one sitting....boredom cravings. Anyway....curious about how this surgery affects your port? Did it change the location? Did it have to be relocated? Does it change for someone with more extreme weight loss? I lost about 180 lbs and most of it seemed to come from my midsection. I have a birthmark that was up around my lower rib cage....it's now at my TT incision line so I cannot imagine what would have happened to a lapband port (is that the correct term...port?). The good news is they removed all but one of my 6 VSG scars. Of course I have a new....much bigger scar. But it's so gruesome....it's awesome! Plus I can see abs. There is nothing sweeter than that. -
Alex, I have a suggestion for the veterans forum that I think will both increase the traffic there, as well as cut down on non veteran related threads. I think the "6 months/100 posts" rule doesn't quite cover things. I propose a 1 year post op OR being within 15 pounds of goal to qualify....and by qualify I mean to start a new thread there. I also feel that responding to threads should be opened up to all post ops provided they are answering the OP and not just throwing in their own off topic question. I feel that many people who are no where near goal may still have something to offer in some of those threads. After all many of them deal with real life beyond surgery, and we are all veterans in that area.

How Do You Explain Your Weight Loss?
Butterthebean replied to ok2rebound's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with you Cindy. I never would have had the courage to do this if not for a coworker who was so open and honest about his RNY. His honesty saved my life. Now I hope to return the favor. And if doing so will also help reduce the stigma of WLS, all the better. And make no mistake, there is a judgmental stigma out there. After all. How many people feel the need to keep knee surgery "private?" It's sad that there are so many judgmental people in the world who are so misinformed about WLS. I hope in time the public awareness will increase so that future WLS patients will not be judged and can feel confident in telling everyone in their lives about the surgery. Till then each of us should do what we need to do to be successful. -
On The Verge Of Mental Collapse
Butterthebean replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Read back on page 1 of PDXmans first post. It's perfectly normal. You're restoring your glycogen reserves which means retaining water. Get used to it because after surgery this will be the name of your existence of you worry about every little up and down fluctuation. Weighing less often actually gives more accurate results. Hang in there and don't stress. I know it's so hard, but we've all been there. -

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
Butterthebean replied to *Dean*'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
Ouch. Good luck on a speedy recovery. 12 more days till I can resume running again. I'm looking forward to rejoining all you runners. I'm sure my legs and lungs will fight me initially but I'll get it back soon hopefully. Planning a 5K turkey trot for thanksgiving day. -
Galveston? You're in my neck of the woods. We're actually planning a trip down there the day before thanksgiving. I'm going to pick up some fresh gulf shrimp to grill for thanksgiving day. I get enough turkey around here.

With my suggestion you'll actually be able to respond to any thread just not start new ones in the vets folder. But I wouldn't worry because I don't think it's being implemented. It was just a suggestion.
