Yes I do. I'm happy with my body and my weight is what it is. It's not as low as people who know me think it is or as low as the BMI charts think I should be. But my body is happy at this weight and I'm happy not cutting my intake to try to lose more. And the pants are comfy....I'm all about comfy.

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

Good luck and a speedy recovery. -
Decaf coffee kills my appetite at night. Also....simply going to bed early. If I try to stay up late I always end up eating. It's a perfectly natural reaction to reach for food when we're tired.

Exactly.....BMI is such a joke. I can easily see my abs and I'm well into the "overweight" category. My frame just isn't going to allow me to be a normal BMI.

Uh....yeah.....you, me and Iggychic going round and round. That was fun.

I'm 6 & 1/2 Months Out, How Do You Stay Motivated And On Track?

Setting fitness goals, planning outdoor trips/adventures that I could never do before like strenuous hiking, and looking at my before and after pics. -
Hello. My Name Is Revs And I'm A Carboholic And Hungry!
Butterthebean replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't believe the myth that hunger disappears for everyone. It does for a great many people, but some people never lose it. And many others experience head hunger as well....which in the moment is very hard to differentiate. You possibly can and will still be hungry after surgery. But you can satiate that hunger much much easier and that is the key to success. Learn to eat until satiated.....never till full. -
Hello. My Name Is Revs And I'm A Carboholic And Hungry!
Butterthebean replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Revs....18 months post op and heavy exerciser so take my numbers with that in mind. But 2000 calories per day. Yes I count and yes I log every bite and every drop of water. Instead of actual numbers I'll give you the percentages. 40% fat, 40% protein, 20% carbs. And for me the best protein is poultry, eggs and fish.... In that order. -
It's happened to quite a few people. Massive website changeover issues I'm sure. Have you tried editing the post and replacing the pics?

Maybe we can rename this the sarcastic crankypants group thread.

Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery

Thanks and please use it. I think it should be required reading. That information is all over the place but I like that particular link because it's straightforward and simple. -
Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery
Butterthebean replied to hayleylamas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm glad you said that. I hear certain things against each surgery all the time. The same things. Against the sleeve it's ....."I don't like the idea of having 85% of my healthy stomach cut out." Against the band it's.... "I don't like the idea of having a foreign object in me." Against bypass it's .... "I don't like the idea of having my digestive track rerouted." There are others, to be sure. And to all those I could say. "That's why they work damnit." I think using such reasons to have or not have a particular surgery may not be the best way to decide. The best way, IMHO is to look at the protocol for each surgery and decide which one you'll be able to follow FOR LIFE. Each protocol is different and following them will make or break your success regardless of which surgery you choose. And btw....my sleeve had no staples. Dissolvable stitches. -
Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery
Butterthebean replied to hayleylamas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just from my experience personally and reading around the interwebz, most people hit a very natural metabolic balance at some point where their intake matches their output and they stop losing. The sleeve's size has been calculated to do just that with the average obese individual. I don't know for sure about bypass. But the great majority of problems I see are people who can't quite get to goal...not people going over it. That happens yes, but it's the minority. Unless there's a problem though, calories can always be increased. There are healthy sliders. Healthy fats that are high in calories. Weight gainer protein shakes. -
Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery
Butterthebean replied to hayleylamas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Question. As a sleever I've heard many lapbanders say that the band is removable and not permanent....and that this is an advantage. Obviously this is an opinion based on your point of view...but my question is why is this an advantage to you? Is it because of worst case complications? Or is there some other reason? This is a serious question. I'm not picking, just curious about this. -
Sheesh if there are more like her I'm afraid to look.

Ha! Do I really have to say Nana's name?

Um....get back to work and quit antagonizing your biggest advocate. Laura has defended you more times than you know. She's stressed. You're stressed. We're all stressed. But let's not burn all the bridges this week.

I've seen all sorts of crazy people on VST. We've got every personality malfunction you can think of. I've seen one crazy lapbander that really tops us all, but other than that they don't seem anymore messed up than we do. That being said, it's not that hard to stay away from the other forums.

Cheri....I'm already cyber stalking Laura. If she tries to leave us I'll post all her personal information on the lapband forum and on www.californiacougars.com She's not getting away. I just flipped 2 years on the forum. Is it time for me to fade out? I mean I may not be an elite level sleever yet but I feel it's my duty to stick around and keep a lid on the nazi rhetoric at least.

So Bummed. Husband Denied.
Butterthebean replied to Fluffnomore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dang it. Well I must say....if insurance hadn't paid for my sleeve, I would have gone to Mexico. It's worth it. -
My favorite kind.....AAARRRRR!!!

If I don't go back to work soon I'm going to need to enlarge my closet. I've bought more clothes in the last 3 weeks than the previous 5 years. I need a cheaper crossover addiction. Like gambling and hookers.

Wow first post in the new sub forum. Hey fellow WLS victims....erm.....I mean patients. Butter here....sleever and dispenser of wit and sarcasm and occasional in your face advice. Welcome to the new gigantic all encompassing WLS forum. I for one was a little apprehensive about it, as I thought VST was big enough. Now we're all together...bandsters, bypass patients, sleevers....everyone. So since we're all together now, let's embrace the new dynamic and start bridging the gaps right now...rather than have any "us vs them" barriers. After all, every one of us has the same goals...improved health, weight loss, better quality of life. Our surgeries may be different, but we all recognized that we needed surgical intervention to get there....to save our own lives. In a way, that sets us apart from the mainstream in alot of people's eyes. And I don't know exactly what we should do about that....or even of there is anything to be done to make WLS more socially acceptable. But the least we can do is accept each other...surgical differences not withstanding. After all...if you don't like me, well so be it. There are plenty of reasons not to. But don't let it be because I'm a sleever. Ok....end of morning rambling.
