Dr. In My Area No Longer Does Lapband. Ugh!
Butterthebean replied to Essence33's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow....I could not keep silent to this any longer. Nana....you're far from honest here. There is so much wrong with your post I hardly know where to begin. You may be a lap band expert, but you know nothing about the sleeve. First of all, your sister had stomach stapling 30 years ago? Nothing like the sleeve. Did they target her gastric fundus? Or did they just staple it shut....then go back and remove the ulcer laden tissue? I'm guessing the later. Meaning she was not sleeved. You say that she cannot eat very much, but that her stomach is stretched out....this seems to be contradictory. If she can't eat very much, you don't know her stomach is stretched out. Your speculating. Then you say she eats around her "sleeve" with sweets.....bingo!!! NONCOMPLIANCE! A term you love to throw at every single failed lapband patient. Also....she vomiting her food? Isn't that called bulimia??? It has nothing to do with being sleeved...I'm sorry she's suffering with that but it's unfair for you to infer a correlation between the 2. Lastly....hypoglycemia. You keep spreading this bullshit that so many sleevers develop hypoglycemia. I'm sorry but that's a load of crap. This is where I say you are flat lying. Completely dishonest. It's true that many morbidly obese people develop hypoglycemia....but there is no proof that it is caused by the sleeve. Lapband patients and RNY patients can also develop it...and guess what....it's not common. To say most sleevers get it is disingenuous just because you have two sleeved friends who are hypoglycemic. Dumping....also not common in sleeved patients. Not common at all....FYI. And finally....the sleeve does not stretch....not often. It is very difficult to do. It takes decades to stretch a normal stomach through overeating and abusing food. To stretch the sleeve will be even more difficult because the stretchy part has been removed. Please please quit spreading all the misconceptions and outright lies about the sleeve. Stick to what you know best which is the lapband. There are so many things about the lapband you can teach us. Stay with your area of expertise and quit spreading untruths about the other surgeries. -
That awesome. There are soldiers in boot camp right now who can't plank for 90 seconds.

Throwing A Compliment In There Doesn't Make It Okay!
Butterthebean replied to clk's topic in Rants & Raves
I have no answer since I don't breed. Not successfully anyway. But I was the same kid as your daughter....biggest kid in school. And I heard the same things.....saw the same raised eye browns....got the same surprised looks. You're a good mom for being concerned about this from the point of view of protecting your child (as opposed to being embarrassed for yourself as my mom was). I wish I had more helpful advice....all I've got is encouragement. -
Never let it be said that I don't love you. I dare you to not get addicted to this. http://www.shockabsorber.co.uk/en/bounce-o-meter/ Be sure to play with the "level of activity" and "adjust view" features. You'll know when you got it right.

Well the placement of this thread hasn't stopped you from enjoying it.

Yes I know my place. Why do you think we men are so confused most of the time? You ladies have a way of saying "come here" and " go away" at the same time. My simple brain just locks up trying to interpret such signals. Is it any wonder we simply follow our penis most of the time?

Confused on what surgery to have
Butterthebean replied to LainieG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We all know that the sleeve's capacity increases.....but if it increases from 15% to 30%.....well hat's kind of the point, and the game plan. At some point your capacity has to increase to allow you to eat at maintenance. To say it will stretch is incredibly misleading. It can possibly.....if you abuse food and over stuff the sleeve regularly. It's hard enough to stretch a regular stomach. It takes decades of overindulgence. The sleeve is even harder to stretch due to the most elastic parts of the stomach being removed. -
Best of luck Misty. I'm chanting for you over here. I'm burning candles and I sacrificed a goldfish. You don't wanna know what I'm wearing....or where I put the candle wax.

You'll still feel the same way....you just won't be sure which group you're in.

I'll find one of me at 400 pounds. I bet my boobs were even bigger.

All I'll say is Laura....and to anyone else....the person who would try to tear you down, their opinion really does not matter. Only yours. The person who does such things only does it to make themselves feel better...because they are feeling low. They can't see any other way to bring themselves up other than to tear someone else down. The moment they start that behavior...their opinion should become meaningless to you. They are not worthy.

Lapband Vs Sleeve Vs Bypass Surgery
Butterthebean replied to hayleylamas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't think I'd use the word "easy" to describe any of the WLS's. In the beginning it can be daunting to get in all your fluids and protein. Then later it can be quite easy to eat around your sleeve (or band). None of the choices are gonna be a cakewalk. You have to be prepared to change your life. But it's so worth it. -
5 miles on the trail this morning. 52.8 MTD.

Good thing....cause I checked with missus butter and she said ....not no but fucked no.

We can't win ANY of them.

Good post PDX. I only say "telling on myself" because I drank a margarita. I'm not a drinker. Although I did forget the tempura fried oysters. Holyfuckballs were they good. But I also mixed in a half marathon in between all that rich food. And everything was eaten in reasonable amounts and I had a great weekend. Great food, great company, great scenery (San Antonio river walk) and great activity. Of course the scale is up this morning but that's to be expected between the rich food, a few sweets and probably a fair amount of post race swelling (down liplady, down). Now back to my structured eating plan and those few pounds will be gone in no time. That's maintenance to me, and that's my version of moderation. The occasional weekend of indulgence then back to more purposeful eating. What I can't do is the half cookie everyday. That makes me binge.

Is there a fucking topic? My bougie size is the New York tunnel judging by how much I ate this weekend. Blue crab cakes. Sweet potato fries. Grilled founder. A pancake. Gelato. Home made fudge. Fried plantains and chimichuri sauce. Freshly made guacamole and chips. Jeezus I'm telling on myself. But I did wait 30 minutes before drinking.....a margarita.

I'm Overweight! Let's Celebrate!

Congrats and welcome to the overweight club. I hope to stay here for the rest of my life. To reach the "normal" club I only need to lose 38 more pounds. Really? Where would it come from? -
I'd be happy to. I'm taking requests from all the sarcastic enablers here. I always wanted to be a hitman. There are just so many fucked people that deserve it....and if I'm getting paid....all the better. It's honestly why I never wanted to have kids. There have been too many times in my life where I opened my mouth and my mother's voice came out. Jeezus it scares me every time...like I've been possessed by her evil spirit. Since I mostly knew her as a parent, I figured if I became a parent I'd have millions more opportunities to channel her demons and repeat her mistakes. I just couldn't let myself do that. Now I just have dogs and when I tell them they should have never been born, all they hear is "do you want a bone?"
-
I meant to say....a couple of fucked people.

Misty....I was gonna post something snarky and enabling....I will later....but instead I'll say to you how much I admire your courage for working so hard to overcome such barriers. We all have different issues, and a lot if them may be similar. But it takes a lot of courage to own them and put them out there like that. Big hug to you. Honestly it makes me look at my life. I know I made a lot of mistakes and I have no one to blame but myself. Still I'd like to go back in time and throat punch a couple of f**king people for making things much worse for me than was necessary.

I was but she thought I had an ulterior motive. Can you imagine that? Me? Copping a feel like some perv? And then claiming it was for her medical benefit? Do you think that would work?

My wife hasn't had WLS but maybe I need to start checking her boobs for shrinkage just in case.
