Those people are dead and therefore, cannot post. Are you saing we should just ignore our doctor's plan because other people tried it and didn't die?

I'm Not Proud But...

I used to do the same at Albertsons. They had the best crab dip. What I wouldn't give for one of those Chicken in a Biscuit crackers with crab dip right now. -
Losing Weight Too Fast And Dealing With New Issues
Butterthebean replied to disneyteach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you and I are on similar paths. I was sleeved May 10 and have lost 88 pounds. first of all, are you sure those are not ingrown or infected hair follicles? If they are you can shave the area with a razor regularly and they shouldn't come back. I also use a lot of baby powder in areas that would otherwise stay wet. Helps keep my skin dry. Finally, do you wear cotton undershirts? Those things are awful if you sweat in them. Try the quick dry shirts. Under armor makes some, but I like the Dry Fit shirts by reebok. They sell them at casual male. -

You could get your tattoo somewhere that's not likely to change much...like near your ankle.

Try dried plantains. They taste just like potatoe chips. You can find them in the produce section. Or even better, put some turkey pepperoni slices in the microwave on high for 1 minute. They come out just like little meat flavored chips. The baked lays probably will not hurt your sleeve, but they are still a starch which is nothing but empty calories. It will cause a rise in blood sugar, which will force your body to release insulin into the blood, which promotes fat storage not fat loss.

Not to be argumentative, but I didn't see a question at all in your original post. Just you saying you've jumped ahead of your Doctor's plan and then asked for comments. My comment is this, your sleeve may tolerate it now, but at what price later on? Why take a chance? We can disagree with each other without getting our feelings hurt, can't we? (I'm not asking you suzjag, I'm asking everyone.)

Anyone With United Health Please Help!
Butterthebean replied to Krismarie0605's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have UHC EPO. They paid 100% but I did have to do the 6 month diet. And by that I mean, I had to go see the NUT once a month for 6 months. They weighed me, but basically told me not to worry if I didn't lose any weight, just don't gain any. I got approved on my first attempt with no problems. I did have to have my surgery in a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Being in Houston, there are several around. Of course, understand that alot of these restrictions and guidelines have just as much to do with your employer as they do with your insurance provider. -
I watched some women's beach volleyball today and you are sure right. Very inspiring.

Priceless...I want my cookie. For those of you who have the time, read the Youtube comments on this vid...they are hysterical. But really, you ain't seen nothing until you watch her follow up video entitled....and I'm not making this up...."I am not an old doosh bag". Out of decency, I will not link to it, but it's there. Clearly I've got nothing better to do at 1:30 in the morning than to look at Youtube.

Three Days Post Op... Any Suggestions?
Butterthebean replied to Now&Later's topic in Fitness & Exercise
They didn't give you any information? They should have. But here is a brief summary of my Dr.s plan. Walk every 2 hours while you're awake for the first 2 weeks. At 2 weeks you can start some other exercises like elliptical and cycling, but easy does it and only if you feel no discomfort. No lifting anything heavy for at least 6 weeks. 2 weeks on full liquids. then 2 weeks on mushies, anything you can mash with a fork. then at 4 weeks out start slowly introducing regular foods...one at a time. Try to get in at least 64 ounces of Water a day, and 60 to 90 grams of Protein. It will be difficult to do that the first week, but will get easier as you heal. The water and walking are the most important things on this list. -
You're what...3 weeks out of surgery? 4oz is what you're supposed to be eating. Are you on soft food? Most people are still on soft food at 3 weeks out. If 6oz of food gives you pain at this point, you're eating too much. You need to eat less. Try some mild walking after you eat to alleviate that fullness. It will get easier to eat in the weeks and months ahead.

Nope...I live up near Cleveland. I was living in Pasadena when I started my whole process....right across the street from Bayshore Hospital. They are a Bariatric Center of Excellence, which my insurance requires I use, so I started looking at surgeons who operated out of that hospital. I came across Dr. Alanis and have been extremely happy. It would have been nice to just drive across the street when I got out of the hospital...that was my original plan. Instead, we had to drive an hour to Cleveland. I was so ready to go home, the nurse offered me a pain pill but then said I'd have to delay my departure for 2 hours just to make sure the pain pill didn't upset me. I told her to keep the pain pill, I wanted to go home.

I used Dr. Audencio Alanis. His main office is in League City but he also has an office out on Ric***nd near Dairy Ashford...much closer to you. He and his staff were great. His wife is his head nurse. His staff did ALL the insurance legwork for me. They made it very easy. He was great and very forthcoming and patient with me.

Unrealistic Diet?
Butterthebean replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there more that you're eating? I added your menu up real quick and it only came to about 550 calories. 47 grams of Protein and 50 grams of carbs. The cornflakes on your chicken account for half of those carbs. If you just baked your chicken without the corn flakes you'd help keep your blood sugar more regulated by not introducing so much insulin into your system after that meal. And if that is truly all you're eating then no wonder you're hungry. Plus, you're really not eating Breakfast. The most important meal of the day. And those turkey pepperoni's....I love them. But really they don't pack much volume for the calories they deliver. Not that they are that many calories, but you could eat a boiled egg for the same calories and it would be way more filling than the little pepperoni's...in my opinion. -
Something Changed On The App

I noticed the same thing. I responded to a post on my ipad using the app, and I am not subscribed to it. But I responded to another one on my computer at work, and I am subscribed to that one. -
Pre-Op Diet Lesson On Day 6 - Don't Pass Gas!
Butterthebean replied to jennrus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess it's one of those things they want you to find out for yourself. A few weeks after surgery, when your eating starts to normalize, this will not be a problem any longer. In fact it's just the opposite for me....very tough getting in enough Fiber when you're eating meat all the time. Makes it harder to go. -
I was told to shoot for 600, but right after surgery that's very hard to do. If you are within 2 weeks of surgery, you are not going to take in too many unless you are living on chocolate malts. The bigger concern is getting in your water.

I Want To Cry... :(
Butterthebean replied to gelen's_change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have 5 years of documented weight. Your 6 months is child's play. Your doctor can't possibly know the requirements of every single insurance company he works with. -
Yes that's me.
