Y'all sound like all the skinny b*****s gossiping around the Water cooler at work behind your backs. But having said that, definitely Seth Rogan. -
Question: Why Is Caffeine Off Limits?
Butterthebean replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still looking for the source in the articles that say it is not a diuretic, but I must have missed it because I can't find any source. Of course, I'm looking at it on my phone and I'm way past the point of needing glasses. -

60 Grams Of Protein In A Serving
Butterthebean replied to Anthony D'Adamo's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Here's a great article that explains how much protein can be absorbed in one sitting. http://www.livestrong.com/article/487366-how-many-grams-of-protein-can-body-absorb-in-one-sitting/ Here's the crux of it pertaining to Protein shakes. "One of the factors that can affect protein digestion is what you are eating because it takes longer for the body to digest a whole protein source, such as chicken, than it does to digest a liquid Protein source, such as a whey Protein shake. For example, it takes a whey protein shake about one hour and 30 minutes for the body to digest. The rate of whey protein digestion is about 10 g per hour, meaning your body will absorb about 15 grams of whey protein during the time it is digested. A larger meal with protein will take longer for the body to digest, meaning your body may absorb more protein during that time. How much protein is absorbed depends on your body and the type of food eaten, as Proteins found in Beans are less digestible than whey protein." So basically, trying to drink 60 grams of protein in one shot is not going to be effective. -

For every article that says caffeine is not a diuretic, there is another one that says it is. http://www.livestrong.com/article/294664-diuretic-effects-of-caffeine/ -
Fat does get a bad rap and alot of it is marketing. You need it to live. "Low-fat" processed foods simply replace the fat with processed sugar, I.E. high GI carbs. You don't need those to live. They do nothing but increase your risk of diabetes and make it harder for your body to burn fat. The only problem with eating fat is it's high in calories. If you are not getting enough calories then eating some dietary fat may actually help you.

I drink through bicycle bottles all the time. If you squeeze it air will get pushed into your mouth. The trick is just don't swallow the air. No problem. -

How Many Calories (And Other Nutrients) Do You Eat Per Day On Average, Realistically?
Butterthebean replied to nyxa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every morning for Breakfast I have 1/2 cup egg beaters with 2oz grilled chicken or beef and some 2% cheese. lunch is 4oz of the same chicken or beef, some more 2% cheese in a lettuce wrap. dinner will be some kind of frozen fish baked or grilled. Between meals I'll have 8oz of Protein shake, although my new go to between meal snack has become 1-2 oz of brisket. Walmart has precooked, pre sliced briskets that are very good. -
How Many Calories (And Other Nutrients) Do You Eat Per Day On Average, Realistically?
Butterthebean replied to nyxa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 6 weeks my doc told me to start aiming for 1250 to 1400 calories daily. It took me about a week to figure out how to eat that much. Since then I've been eating fairly consistently. -
My Protein Shake Panacea
Butterthebean replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best Protein is whey protein. If that is the first ingredient on the package, it's high quality protein. Somebody made a post just a couple of days ago, maybe yesterday, explaining what to look for, and the differences in Proteins....I think it was Shane Ferris (OTR sleever). As for getting in the required protein, nobody does it the first couple of weeks. Just try your best. Getting in the Water is more important. But if you can't get in the protein, I wouldn't waste any energy eating anything that is full of carbs and absent protein. For example, I had grits on my list of approved full liquids, but my nut told me not to eat them unless I was getting close to my protein goal. After about a week, I was hitting that goal, so I started enjoying a small bowl of grits about every other day until I hit the soft food stage. -

Help Needed To Move Past A Plateau
Butterthebean replied to Chicago1962's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Stalls happen. Patience is key, but I know that's easy to say, harder to do. Try throwing your body some curve balls for 2 or 3 days. Go back to liquid diet. Completely change your workout to something you are not comfortable doing. Or take a couple of days off from the gym altogether. Up your water. Get more sleep. These things may help, may not. Most of the time the stalls end themselves. -

It's not criticism, but based on the little bit of information there is nothing wrong with you other than bad eating habits. You just need a kick in the pants. -

Is My Sleeve Broken?
Butterthebean replied to AnewdayAnewlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do a search on slider foods, that's what chips and crackers are. Quit eating them. And don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. Doctors don't yell at grown ups, but grown ups aren't afraid to talk to their doctor. Quit eating junk. Start eating right. Your sleeve is not stretched. You will feel the restriction if you eat solid Proteins and not junk. -
My nut allowed it. I just have to watch it because I can eat way too much of it. Lots of calories.

Thats what I call a "hot mama" pose.

Sounds like you have a very tight sleeve. There may still be some inflammation in there...perfectly normal though. As long as you can eat that much and not be in pain, I see no problem. Your capacity will increase slightly over time.

Attn: 40 Bmis And Over
Butterthebean replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI was in the 50s. Now it's just under 40 and will one day be under 30. But even if it isn't, I already feel so much better than I have in the last 10 years. Hiked 4 miles today in the woods with my dogs. Tomorrow will be a 20 mile bike ride...I couldn't do these things 5 months ago. I'm planning a rim to floor to rim hiking trip in the Grand Canyon for next spring. My wife has been wanting to hike down there for years, but I never thought I could do it till now. So, what I'm saying is, I already feel like my sleeve has been a success even though I'm only half way to goal. My real goal was to live longer and feel better. I think that should be everybody's goal. In fact, we need a "feels crappy" to "feels good" ticker. As far as nausea, I haven't had any. The only time I felt sick was when they made me drink that barium crap in the hospital. I tried to throw it up but there wasn't enough there. Since then, no problems. I think the biggest thing that has aided me was I already liked Protein shakes going in, and still do. I've said before, nobody likes those things in the beginning. You have to acquire the taste for them. You get used to them. Then it gets easier. Dont stress over the Protein Shakes. Make those shakes your b***h. -
