For me it went away as soon as I started eating solid food again.

I made some fabulous ribeyes last weekend. I was eating chili with extra lean finely ground beef in the soft foods stage. I haven't had a problem with it and my Doctor didn't tell me I couldn't eat it. I pretty much eat red meat daily, but Lately I've been trying to eat more chicken and fish to mix things up.

Something strange happened tonight. I sitting here reading and I have an itch on my chest. I go to scratch it and something feels weird. Like not quite what my hand was expecting. After a minute I figure it out.....my man boobs are gone. WTH??? My wife said she noticed several weeks ago. She says they've been replaced by something called pecs. They are firm and flat and right where my man boobs used to be. Any of you other guys have this.....side effect? My Dr. Didn't warn me about this.

Five Days Out- Restriction Question
Butterthebean replied to oconnell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the same way. I can handle quite a bit of liquid. That's a good thing. It means you're healing well. You will feel the restriction the most when you start eating solid food. -
How far do you run? I just started running and I'm running about 2 miles in 35 minutes. I love working out before dawn but I work shift work so my schedule is constantly changing.

Head hunger is very common at this stage. Just keep drinking your Water and Protein shakes. Once you start eating real food it will go away. Also, the 3 week stall is even more common. Nothing at all to worry about. Read the link in my sig. It will explain why and when it will end. Just be patient and hang in there.

Am I Crazy? My Taste And Sense Of Smell Has Changed...
Butterthebean replied to TracyLynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't noticed any change of taste or smell, but just the thought of any more cream soup makes me gag. I had cream soup everyday through my 10 day preop diet and I was really loving it. The whole time I was thinking "why wasn't I eating this stuff all along?" Now when I walk by the pantry and see it sitting there, I get the shivers....nasty. -
When is it a food addiction, and when is it just overeating?

This is a really old thread. -
This thread is going downhill fast.

Hang in there Amanda. For me it got better as soon as I started eating soft foods. I'm not condoning this, but when I was on full liquids I licked the flavoring off of 5 wheat thins. My God it was good, and I was satisfied. My dog ate the freshly licked wheat thins and she was happy too.

Having A Hard Hard Time
Butterthebean replied to Jessica89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Before surgery I went through the same thing everytime I tried to go on a diet. I didn't realize it at the time but I was going through withdrawal because all I ate were starches and sweets....and once they go into your body there is not much difference between the two. It takes a few days but it does get better. If you absolutely must cheat eat ONLY Protein, no carbs especially starches. FYI...I'm not encouraging anyone to cheat, but things happen. -
As to whether it's necessary, that's debatable....but the more you exercise the more energy they will give you. But during the losing phase you want to get as much of your energy from stored fat as possible. Not all of it, but as much as possible. If you're training for long distance endurance events, it's extremely difficult to do without carbs. And you can get carbs from better sources that sweet potatoes....like fruit and green veggies....without affecting your blood sugar as much.

Sorry LT, I don't mean to jump on you personally or to start an argument. But if the OP wanted support and encouragement I think the thread would have started with "I'm suffering from head hunger and I'm craving a milkshake." Thats something we all understand. But no, he wanted information. He wanted to know when he could have a milkshake. Several people encouraged him to not drink a shake and supported his decision to eat healthy.

Eating Quickly W No Side Effects
Butterthebean replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almost 4 months out and I still eat a bit too fast. Eating too fast doesn't bother me at all, but eating too much certainly does. Now drinking too fast is uncomfortable...to put it mildly. -
It completely depends on your build. I still have a high BMI (38 ). Some people have surgery with my BMI. But I've been working out everyday since 3 weeks post op. Besides all the cardio, I've been doing a lot resistance bands, push ups...that sort of thing. In other words, some kind of upper body toning helps. But yeah, I still have some belly fat to lose, but my chest is shaping up very quickly all of a sudden

I tried making the gel, it was nasty. It had no taste, but still made me gag. I have really enjoyed putting them in my Protein shakes and then drinking immediately. I've also been putting them in SF pudding cups. Yesterday I mixed them into some scrambled eggs, that was good. Probably would be good mixed up in Peanut Butter. I've also been meaning to mix some into orange juice. It's the same benefit whether you let them gel or not. They are going to gel in our stomach. If you do eat them dry, be sure you are hydrated, or hydrate immediately afterward because they will be looking for some liquid to absorb.

"you Have To Reexamine Your Relationship With Food"

Yep Cookeeeez, there is certainly no one approach that works for everyone. If I thought my plan worked for everyone, I'd package it up and make a million bucks. -
