Old Ways Omg
Butterthebean replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did this one day with some Sonic tater tots. I bought a small order and drove up to the trash can 10 feet away and through them in. Of course, I crammed 4 in my mouth before I got to the trash can. But here is where we are all different. For me, simple carbs definitely are a trigger food. If you have an addiction, as I did to carbs, then partaking of them in small quantities prevents you from ever getting over the addiction. Giving them up completely (or "depriving myself"...as people here are so fond of saying) was the only thing that really decreased the craving. Having a few in moderation actually raised the craving. It's a proven fact that if you want to increase an animal's (or person's) desire for a particular substance, you give it to them intermittently and sparingly. Ask any dog trainer and they will tell you not to give the dog a treat every single time they perform. This keeps them wanting the treat more. -
Meds To Prevent Gallstones
Butterthebean replied to sunshyneqtie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started taking the ursodiol about 4 weeks after surgery. I had no problem swallowing the capsule from that point onward. I have to keep taking it until I stop losing weight. So far so good. -
Does Only Having 50-60 Lbs. To Lose Discredit Me Wanting Surgery?
Butterthebean replied to akwitham72's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I realize some folks can't eat any more food. I just meant foods like Peanut Butter, whole milk, guacamole, full fat everything. These foods have more calories per gram that other "healthier" choices. They are not unhealthy, just more calories. If I was losing too much weight I would try to take in foods like this because they are so calorie dense but they also slide right down and don't take up much room in the sleeve.....except for the whole milk of course. -

Getting Hit On After Surgery

It's hard to lose 100 pounds and not feel a whole lot better about yourself, and that will show through in your personality....which will make you more attractive. -
Friends- Can We Really Keep Them?
Butterthebean replied to O.T.R. sleever's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, I'll have to think on that some. First of all, the closest bike shop from me is 45 minutes...I live in the sticks. Secondly, I sorta have a love/hate relationship with bike shops....being the bike snob that I am. I've been thinking about joining a gym or a crossfit class...even though I have everything I need at home. It would give me a chance to hang out around some healthier people. Again, it would still likely be 45 minutes away, but everything can't be perfect. -
Friends- Can We Really Keep Them?
Butterthebean replied to O.T.R. sleever's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just wondering, how are ya'll going about this? The finding new friends part, I mean. I personally have no clue. It doesn't help that I live in rural southeast Texas so most people around here are only interested in Nascar, hunting and BBQ. Earlier this year (right before surgery) I moved an hour away from where I'd always lived, and thus an hour from most of my friends. My wife and I do alot together and we enjoy each other's company quite a bit. We go hiking, running, cycling...but outside of her there's nobody I really hang out with anymore. -
Protein Shakes Help Please
Butterthebean replied to Carol Watts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious what brand are they? I've never ever seen one made with whey protein at Walmart, but I have seen several that have the word "Whey" in the name, but they don't actually have any whey in the ingredients. -
Am I Loosing Fast Enough? (Got The Sleeve At 154#)
Butterthebean replied to vssupermodel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She only had surgery one month ago, there is no need to go back. To the OP, be patient. Every one loses at different rates. Not getting in enough Water, Protein or exercise can slow down your loss so take a look at those areas. And not to judge, but did you say you only weighed 154lbs? I only ask because if so, your weight loss will be slower. The less you have to lose the slower it generally is...and vice versa. -
Braaaaains... I Mean, Protein...

One things for sure, after the liquid phase the first food you eat will be the best food you've ever eaten. -
Braaaaains... I Mean, Protein...

When I left the doctors office after being released to eat soft foods, I was looking for a Wendy's to get some of their chili. I've been living on meat ever since. I think I'm growing a tail. -
Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...

You rock Sandy. I'm happy you are getting your life back. You should be proud. -
You are probably not taking in any fiber whatsoever, that makes BM's difficult. Are you taking in any solid foods? Liquids in...liquids out. As you start eating solid foods it should improve although many get constipated. Miralax works very well once that happens.

I've tried the Under Armour, BCG brand from Academy, and the Insta slim. The Under Armour and BCG are the same. The Insta slim is almost the same but the sleeves are slightly looser like a regular t shirt. I've never tried to Spanx. The 1 problem I have is that all of them tend to roll up on me. I can't figure out how to make them stay down. I do have a very long torso, I'm 6 foot 1 but only a 30 inch inseam. I'm all torso.

Had A Date And My Insurance Wants 6 Documented Diet
Butterthebean replied to steelergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its actually pretty common. I had to do the 6 month diet. I wasn't required to lose any weight, only not to gain weight. -
Those Who Have Gotten In Shape And Have Ran 5Ks
Butterthebean replied to iceshayw's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I started jogging when I was 305 doing the C25K program. I could barely jog 45 seconds at a time without being completely out of breath. Now, 9 weeks later, I'm 266 and last night I ran 20 minutes without stopping and felt great. Never thought I'd do anything like that. -
A recumbent stationary bike is also a great choice. No impact and easy on the joints.

Save $ On Business Clothes: Buy One Get One Men's Wearhouse
Butterthebean replied to COsleeveDude's topic in The Guys’ Room
I really want to buy one but right now any clothes I buy won't fit me in 6 weeks so I'm going with the cheapest stuff I can find. I already had to buy a suit for my neices wedding 6 weeks after surgery. It was a one and done kinda suit. Way too big for me now. Hopefully no one else decides to require me to dress up till I get to goal. -

I'm sure there is such a thing, but I wouldn't want to eat it. If I'm going to break all my rules and eat something so fattening, it's going to be worth it. It's gonna be covered in chocolate fudge and riddled with chopped up Peanut Butter cups and maybe oreos too. And there may or may not be a bunch of nuts on top. I don't want to ruin it with a bunch of Protein.

Well, it's all semantics, but to me a slippery slope food can be a slider or a trigger food. A trigger food is something that increases your cravings. Something that causes you to want more after 1 bite. A slider is something that will not give you a sense of fullness because it either passes through too quickly or takes up very little room in your stomach. It could be liquid calories (or semi liquid) or it could be potato chips that crunch up very small and get compacted, therefore not making you feel full.

Like ice cream...yum.

Are you getting enough Iron? I used to keep my thermostat on 70. Now it's on 78 all the time. Less body insulation.
