Stop Eating Switch
Butterthebean replied to michelleooo513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can be for some people. I've heard of people who get the hiccups when they are full after surgery. For me, the only thing that has changed is my capacity. -
Stop Eating Switch
Butterthebean replied to michelleooo513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My switch isn't any better than it used to be, although I certainly get full on less food. The problem is, I don't eat as slow as I should so sometimes it doesn't go off in time (well, most of the time it doesn't). But now I measure everything and that makes it easy to not eat too much. So now I eat my measured portion and I'm done. 20 minutes later I feel that full feeling, not uncomfortable but satisfied. Why couldn't I have been doing that all along? -
When Your Counting Your Calories And...
Butterthebean replied to jaymzee's topic in Food and Nutrition
I guess it really depends on what kind of data tracking you are wanting to do. My doc told me to eat X amount of calories, and workout a certain amount. The X calories for me isn't necessarily a sliding scale, but it is worth considering especially if your workouts vary, or you only workout certain days of the week. By that I mean, don't necessarily eat less on days you don't workout, but you might consider eating more on heavy workout days otherwise you could be inhibiting your weight loss by having too big of a negative calorie deficit. -
Count me in as one of the offensive....er...uh....offended.

I think we need both. Real food to satisfy your cravings, and shakes to supplement your protein.

It's Done And Im Home!
Butterthebean replied to Donny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Way to go Donny. It's all down hill from here on out....the scale I mean. Best of luck. There's not that many of us guys here....we have to root for each other. -
You are!!! Speaking of butter, did ya'll hear about the lady who filed a lawsuit because the "zero calorie-fat free" spray butter wasn't zero calorie nor fat free??? Apparently she's pissed because she was exercising and trying to lose weight, and taking off the bottle cap and pouring it onto her steamed veggies. Wow. So don't put that crap on your popcorn. If you're gonna die, use the real stuff. http://www.inquisitr.com/305154/conagra-lawsuit-woman-sues-over-calorie-free-butter/

Staying The Same Weight
Butterthebean replied to Kellee2012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's a very common thought. Many of us here were food addicts in one form or another before surgery. But my advice to you is do not plan on waiting till your surgery to tackle your addiction. Yes, some aspects of surgery make it easier...but not for everyone. The best thing you can do is deal with your addiction now while you're preop, because once you have surgery your options will be limited. A food addict who is determined to eat around their sleeve can do great harm to himself. -
There are conflicting studies now about whether or not caffeine really does dehydrate the body.

If we didn't have the occasional melodrama on this forum it would get boring real quick. We can only talk about stalls for so long.
-
You'll know because over the course of the next week you should see regular weight loss. For many, this is the time when the weight just falls off, excluding the 3 week stall. As far as "how much", that's gonna depend on alot of factors. There is no set or normal amount. But you will see loss.

How To Find Your Necessary Amount Of Protien
Butterthebean replied to TamaraS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep in mind they're talking about ideal weight. The numbers get slightly skewed if you're obese. 120 seems like a lot for you. -
Read the link in my sig. It gives a good explanation of why we stall. The 3 week stall is very common and not much you can or should do about it. Just be calm and patient and it will break on its own very soon.

Question For The Post Ops...
Butterthebean replied to Yasmine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might think about slacking off on the gym on your 2 week diet. You can lose only so much quickly, then you will stall. You don't want to stall before you even start. Eating that little plus working out hard could send your body into a starvation mode...such as it is. I think I lost 15 pounds on my 10 day preop with no calorie restrictions whatsoever...just drinking shakes and eating nothing but soup. And I didn't workout once. -
I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!

I'm from the south, and there is usually a "hold my beer" mixed in there as well. -
When I get to goal.....hell yeah.

Yes it is. Sounds like it might be good with a little PB2.

Here's the number most important to me.....44. That's how old my grandpa was when he died. I'm 43 now....I want to see 45, that's why I'm here.

The one sure fire way I've seen to get your account closed is to start calling people here a bunch of fat heffers. That has worked in the past. But you could have just as easily never posted here again and never come back to this website. Just the simple fact that you are replying to this thread demonstrates that you don't really want to leave. So why don't you take a few days off from the forums and then venture back. We all need "breaks" from it after a while.

Charlie Horse Omg!

Drinking pickle juice is a known preventative of cramps. When I first started exercising hard after surgery I was getting them every night. I was taking potassium but it didn't help. I upped my Water and they stopped. It also helps as the muscles get in better condition. Muscle fatigue is one contributing factor to cramps that many people don't pay enough attention to.
