Question About Red Meat & Pork
Butterthebean replied to KLNorrod's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I've been eating pork and beef since I was 2 months out. Eat it everyday. I hate chicken. I don't see what the problem is. If I get ground beef, I get the extra lean, but other than that I don't worry about it. I may go eat a ham steak right now in your honor. -

Musings: "the Rules" Are All Over The Place

That's why I said you CAN have a fatty liver. Not that you WILL have a fatty liver. I also did not realize our BMI was that low. -

They have absolutely zero taste. They do change the texture of whatever you add them to though. They are like little poppy seeds. But if you allow them to sit in a liquid for 20 minutes or more, they soak up the liquid and become gelatinous. Almost slimy. A lot of people like this gel, but I don't. -

Musings: "the Rules" Are All Over The Place
Butterthebean replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing has nothing to do with the other. You can have a low BMI and still have a fatty liver. Cutting sugar and carbs right before surgery will shrink your liver to make surgery easier and less risky. There is more than one way to do this, but each doctor decides how they want it done and then direct their patients accordingly. The docs try to simplify the plan and also "idiot proof" it. That's why they don't give us options. If they did, a certain percentage of people would not understand and get it wrong. -

Please read the link in my sig. You are just going through the 3 week stall. It's perfectly normal. Do not panic. Just keep doing what you're doing. The stall will end soon. -
Whey is the best form of protein for VSG patients. It will help prevent muscle loss better than any other because it is absorbed so quickly, especially right after a workout.

Uh....diamond earrings and an iPad for 10 pounds? That's gonna get expensive real quick. But I can't talk, I want to buy myself a Harley when I hit goal, but my wife reminded me she knows a good divorce lawyer.

2 tspoons in my pudding. 2-3 in my shakes. If you put 3 tspoons in your shake, you will swallow 2, the rest will be stuck to the inside of the cup. I really like the texture they give to shakes and pudding. Plus they keep me regular. -
That's awesome. I training for my first one now. Keep it up.

The Catheter For Men
Butterthebean replied to bakawaka's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doc didn't use a catheter, and I had urinary retention after surgery. Believe me, it's much worse than a catheter. It's like having a swollen prostate. You need to urinate so bad, but you can't. It literally took me 30 minutes to give them a few drops. It took 36 hours before I finally got some relief. Trust your surgeon. No one here is smarter than the doctor they've chosen. You will still be getting up to walk around, catheter or no.
