That's a good look. Way to go. I agree with Rootman. You look younger and definitely happier. -
Planar Fasiitis
Butterthebean replied to sleeve_sister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had it many times. Besides stretching your calves, freeze a Water bottle and roll your foot on it at the end of the day to reduce inflammation. Also, if you remember the original die hard movie...."make fists with your toes" is a great exercise to strengthen the tendons in your foot. Everyone has known for years that bad shoes can cause PF, but a lot of great information is coming out lately that demonstrates that shoes with a lot of support (especially arch support) make the problem worse because they don't allow the muscles and tendons in the feet to remain strong and do their job. The answer to this is barefoot walking in grass. Very little impact because of the grass but allows your feet muscles and tendons to work and get stronger. I've been running barefoot and in minimalist shoes like the Vibram five fingers and I can see and feel a huge difference in my feet already. -
Not Getting Enough Protein
Butterthebean replied to LionHeart's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You could get plenty of protein on the puréed stage as long as you concentrate on them. I don't know what you're eating, but focus on protein only if you're not getting enough. It's very important to do what you have to do to get in your protein right now. -
Why Cant We Have Red Gatorade ?
Butterthebean replied to azrrel herrejon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never heard the "no red" rule. I think your doctor is f**king with you to see if you are following the rules. Some people follow the rules no matter what. Some people don't follow them at all. I guess better safe than sorry. -

Hip Pain After Vsg
Butterthebean replied to krenzema's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I doubt it's the surgery. More likely increased activity that you're not used to. After an extreme weight loss, I can see changes in posture (due to the off set of weight) causing some pain, but strengthening the core will prevent that. Walking is great but you've got to work on your core, especially if you sit a lot. -

Man you look great. -
Do you notice a difference between a few hours and 20 minutes in the fridge? I leave mine in the fridge about 20 minutes and it thickens up big time. I thought at that point it there was no more thickening up to be done. If you think it makes a difference I'm going to try it.

Shout Out To All The Veterans...*carbs Or Calories*
Butterthebean replied to Kristi64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's both, but I also want to add 2 things. First, it's important to differentiate good carbs from bad...the starches. OTR pretty much named them....rice, potatoes, bread, Pasta, corn....these foods are worth watching, if not cutting out of your life altogether. Green veggies are also carbs, but they are great for you and you'd have a hard time eating too many of them even if you tried. Also, you said something about watching out for sweets.....these starches are no different nutritionally from eating sweets. If you eat a potato it has almost the same affect on your body as eating a candy bar. So yes, watch out for sugar. -
'Tis true.

I usually have some in the morning and again at night. Never had any adverse affects from them.

After All This What If It Doesn't Work......in Tears
Butterthebean replied to READY TO LOSE IT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It always works. I felt very little restriction on liquids. I was drinking 64 oz of Water by day 3. By 3 weeks I was drinking 90. It's not till you start to eat solid foods that the sleeve really works its magic. You are also learning right now about slider foods. Those things you're eating that are going right through you.....sliders. Once you start on solid Protein it gets so much better. I was just like you, minus the tears. Now, 6.5 months later I've lost 150 lbs. You'll be fine. -
Protein shakes and Soups.

I just finished reading the book "Born to Run". It really made me want to go run an ultramarathon. It also makes me want to order myself some of those minimalist running shoes. I'm really determined to be able to run injury free.

Are My Books Going To Get Super Small?!
Butterthebean replied to Beautyandbeyond's topic in The Gals' Room
My books have gotten smaller every since I discovered kindle. Plus I feel like I'm helping the environment by not buying all that paper. -
I have checked out the website before and would love to buy the DVDs, but I just never got around to it. I like DDPs energy and I like his approach from a fitness standpoint. If you want yoga to be a big part of your fitness then I think DDPs yoga would be a very good choice. Other yoga tapes I've seen might make you feel better and improve balance and flexibility, but they won't do much for weightloss.

I say wear what is comfortable. I've been in and out of gyms since my high school football days. Growing up my best friends dad owned a gym. And I can tell you no one cares what anyone else is wearing at the gym.
