What was your Christmas meal like?
Butterthebean replied to PdxMan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Our family dinner isn't till Saturday, so I'm nervous about how that will go. But my wife and I had our traditional eggs Benedict brunch. I had 1 instead of 5. -

I'm no expert, but I think it depends on the individual. There are plenty of people who run everyday, even twice a day. It just depends on how fast you recover. I have run some back to back days. As long as the second day is an easy run I feel fine. Just trying to build up very slowly because I've had a lifetime of knee injuries already. Each time I raise things up a notch I take a good inventory of how I feel afterward, especially the next day. So far so good. I think that chi running has helped me tremendously. I'm thinking about signing up for one of his training seminars in March.

You have no idea how much you've lost. I came home from the hospital 15 pounds heavier. Took a few days to lose that back and break even. Don't get discouraged.

Sannah...Merry Christmas and get well soon. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. I do admire your spirit though. Hang in there. It will get better. This is my before and current. 163 pounds I'll never see again. Someone told me this morning, I've lost a Backstreet Boy. Good riddance. -
Gallbladder Surgery...gone horribly wrong!
Butterthebean replied to Lissa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lisssa, didn't you say at one point in the past that you had your heart tested and everything was great? If I remember, weakening of the heart muscle due to weight loss was a concern but you passed with flying colors. Have they done anymore diagnostics on the heart? Will you be cleared for exercise again soon? Sorry to hear all of this is happening now. Hope you feel better soon. -

Basically, anything that is high in protein and not too dry and fibrous. Purée it till its easy to eat. My favorite was chili, lots of protein. Scrambled eggs was another, or egg salad made with mustard.

I have tried and failed, will this really work?
Butterthebean replied to Letty1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone here has tried and "failed." But when you take a good look at human physiology, our bodies do not want us to lose 100 pounds. When you try to lose that much weight, your body fights you with everything it has. It sends you every signal in the world to eat, and pulls every trick it has to hang onto the fat. It's not a failure to not lose 100 pounds through diet and exercise alone. It's normal. It's biology, not weakness. There are very very few people who can do it and keep it off. The surgery will help get you over that hump as long as you are willing to make that life long commitment. The good news is, it's doable. You won't have to starve yourself. You just have to develop some new behaviors. Sounds like you're on the right track. Best of luck. -
Welcome from another fellow Texan. I only wish I could have had this surgery when I was 21. Best of luck.

Running/walking progress by St Patricks day

I just got a pair of merrel trail gloves. Love them. Talk about light. I mostly run in the Vibrams but some of the trails we run are too tough for me in vibrams. The trail gloves are a half step up in terms of cushioning, plus they look less dorky. -
That's impressive. Nice going.

Although I should stipulate....permissible is one thing. Advisable is another.

I just ordered some sprouted brown rice protein. There is also hemp protein. So many new ones coming out all the time. -

Got it. This thing is huge. You can see the roll of paper towels in the background. But it works. This thing would blend up a truck bumper. I made my first green shake this morning. I definitely need to fine tune my recipe. It tastes kinda like mixed berries and fresh mowed grass. Too much kale. I do feel better getting in more greens though. No way would I be able to eat this many greens.
