    goooaaaaallll...

Didn't I read that you already had your TT? How long ago was that? How did that go?
  2. Don't make me get my horse whip.
  3. Why are you directing your lecture at me? I'm not the one who keeps beating the dead horse.

Dang I'm jealous. You had surgery 5 days after me. Makes me feel really close seeing another May sleever hit goal. Way to go.
  5. Everybody knows....never trust a fart.
  6. I apologize for my "wtf" remark, but we all know exactly who the op was referring to so let's not pretend otherwise.
  7. WTF....the OP mentioned her specifically in the very first post so how does it have nothing to do with her? Then when she did post she cracked a joke and then said she hopes every one has a good recovery...where was the negativity? I don't think every word that comes out of Iggy's mouth is golden, but honestly the Iggy haters have got some blood red colored glasses on.
  8. I have to say, I did bring my phone and iPad....and didn't touch either. I was either sipping, walking, trying to pee or sleeping. I went home the day after surgery so there wasn't a lot of down time.

How do I tell him or should I bother?

I agree with the other guys. Any man I know wouldn't hold this against you whatsoever, unless he feels you went out of your way to hide it from him. Be proud of your progress and success and he will be proud with you. And if he's not, that should be a red flag to you.

    TUMMY TUCK TOMORROW MORNING

Are you doing the surgery locally? How did you go about choosing a surgeon? Just in the past week I've become very aware of how much I want this same thing. I'm getting close to my docs goal and everyday I think if I didn't have this belly roll I would be very happy with my body.
  11. You are well prepared. Don't forget you're walking shoes for after surgery.
  12. I am so lucky...I still love protein shakes. Always have, even way back before surgery. I do believe they are an aquired taste, especially whey protein. They are heavy on the stomach. You might try changing things up. Try some soy protein every once in a while. Or casein protein is excellent for just before bedtime because its slow absorbing so it will continue to feed your muscles longer while you sleep. I also rarely use milk, I use water with my protein.

    carbonation?

For me sodas are definitely the beginning of a slippery slope. I've done it before. I used to love diet dr peppers from sonic. I used to get one (or two) everyday. And twice in my life I've lost a large amount of weight, only to slip. At some point I allowed myself to start going back to sonic to get those damn diet dr peppers. Well, one thing always led to another. A trip every day to get a soda eventually led to occasionally picking up a small order of tater tots after a big workout. That led to getting a large order....which led to getting a cheeseburger along with it....which led to eating fast food at least 2 meals a day. You can see where this is going. This pattern was my failure. One soda didn't undo my weight loss. But the gradual change in pattern, which I didn't even notice happening, did lead me to regain all the weight I'd lost. So for me, sodas are out. This kind of behavior is why I cannot operate under the "everything in moderation" mode that others can. It doesn't work for me. But the good thing is I don't miss them anymore.

    For Distance Runners

I also want to add, I have no access to a treadmill. Today I did a 5 mile trail run in 37 degree weather. Yes it was cold and damp, but I never noticed it. I had a track suit on plus a layer of under armour tights (top and bottom) and a heavy cotton long sleeve shirt. Seems like a lot but it really wasn't, but I was very comfortable. In fact I had a good sweat going. I will say this about the trail, you cannot daydream, you cannot lose focus. I was studying the ground the whole time for rocks and roots. In some places, the roots are like stair steps on the up and down terrain. But it makes the running so much more fun. I've also read that it improves balance and helps reduce certain overuse injuries like patellofemoral syndrome because you are always slightly changing the range of motion. I have no evidence of this obviously but it makes sense. I am still a firm believer that the best thing anyone can do to prevent injury is to study the minimalist or barefoot running style. Time may change my mind on this, but since I've been doing it all my knee aches have disappeared. And I walk around with a torn ACL and 2 torn meniscus which I'll always have because I never had surgery.

    Fruits

Did your doc give you a post op eating plan? By 2 months out I was ok'd to resume full foods, but with the stipulation that I add one new food at a time to make sure I could tolerate it. And if I had problems I should back up to soft foods for a while. I had no problems with anything, but your mileage may vary. As for fruit, I love fruit and eat some every day if I can, but I limit the quantities because its high sugar content will raise my blood insulin levels, which will reduce my body's ability to burn fat.

    Pardon my bluntness...

I'm not sure what the correlation is between being well prepared and being self pay vs insured. I've seen too many people on this website from both sides of the aisle who have no idea what to do next. And while I do think each person should do their own research beforehand, what pains me the most is the fact that some surgeons would send their patients out into the world without a comprehensive, detailed plan. That is just negligent to me. Success of This surgery depends ENTIRELY on a person's post op plan. The plan can be moderate or strict, but we all need one. Without it we just go back to our bad habits and we find ways to eat around the sleeve. The worst part is many people come here looking for that plan, but it's not here. All of our collective experiences are too varied. There is no one right plan. It needs to come from one's medical team, not this website.
  18. Hey Frank. It sounds like we had very similar starting stats. I was 401 when I started my 10 day preop diet. Almost 8 months later I'm 236. That will be you my friend. Best of luck.
  19. We are not all the same. I have over eaten once or twice. I've eaten sweets and fatty foods.... but I have never thrown up. Besides, the act of regurgitation seems extremely hard on a new sleeve. I would not think of throwing up as a protective mechanism.
