It's instant (powdered) Peanut Butter and it has 25% of the calories of regular peanut butter. I love peanut butter but I can eat a 200 calorie serving in an instant and still want more.

How about making peanut butter?

I hope you're not laughing at me. I worked hard this morning cutting up a bunch of pine trees. It's well known that chainsawing wood prevents stalls, hair loss, saggy skin and general crankiness.

Purging the closet
Butterthebean replied to NurseGrace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have a resale shop close by that uses all their proceeds for the local animal shelter. At 8 months post op, I'm still cleaning out my closet. It's an ongoing thing. -

Today i found out that i streched my pouch
Butterthebean replied to LadiWobs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly. I have a large capacity too. I just have to be more diligent about weighing and measuring my food. There is no rule that says you should eat till you're full. Quite the opposite. My NUT told me the goal is to never be full again. Of course, it's not possible for it to NEVER happen....but to stop short of full should be the goal every time you eat. I see so many statements on this forum by people saying they just want to eat like a normal person....well normal people stop short of full most of the time. The goal should be "not hungry". -

Mark, I've only been doing this 4 or 5 months, but I'm just starting to get to that point. I have also very recently realized that I no longer have to count my steps and try to sync my breathing to them...it's just happening naturally. I no longer have to repeat certain mantras to myself constantly....."lift your feet", "drop your shoulders", "bend your knees".....it's just all kinda happening now. And the best part, I'm getting to the point where I become totally unaware of how far or how long I've run for periods of time....instead my mind starts enjoying the scenery, thinking about future events, even day dreaming. Weird. I love that though.

How likely is it to gain weight after?
Butterthebean replied to Harpo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thing to keep in mind about regaining weight is...the affects of all your weight loss on metabolism. When you first get sleeved, you're at your heaviest, and your restriction is at it's greatest. Both of those things are going to change. Your restriction will lessen, your capacity to eat will increase.....and as you lose 100 or more pounds your BMR goes way down...so you can gain weight eating way less calories than it would have taken at your heaviest weight. So even though you can't eat as much as you could presleeve, you don't have to eat as much to gain. We all have to plan to learn some better eating and living habits in order to prevent weight gain in the future. The last thing I want to see is anyone go through all of this only to regain their weight 2 years down the line. -
That's neat. It really is a completely different posture to most heel strikers. It should be comfortable and graceful though. I know when I run and things are going good, I feel as graceful as a swan, but Lord knows if I look that good. My wife, who is a long time runner, tells me my form looks real good and nobody at the trail has fallen down from laughing at me so something must be right. I met a guy last weekend who was trail running in his huaraches (little primitive homemade sandals). I don't know if I'm hip enough to run in those, but I am planning a short barefoot run this Saturday. I honestly don't think I could run as far as I have if I was still heel striking. We will see, but as of now I'm planning on doing my half marathon in my five finger shoes.

I think we may be brothers....I don't know why I wasn't this disciplined before the surgery.

Whats your average weekly loss?
Butterthebean replied to ShyV.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no hard and fast rule. There is no minimum, no maximum, no average. The biggest way to set yourself up for disappointment is to turn this into a competition by expecting to keep pace with others. That's not how it works. We are all going to lose differently. Give yourself credit for the weight you've lost and don't fret over what hasn't been lost YET or you will be quite miserable during what should otherwise be a happy time. You're losing weight!!! Don't look for and find the negative in that. Focus on the positive. This time next year you'll be a skinny little happy healthy person. Maybe at goal, maybe not...but much better off than you are now so enjoy that ride. -
Danyelle...2:05 is awesome. On another note...have ya'll tried foam rolling? It kind of takes the place of stretching plus it's a great warm up, and really loosens up muscle lesions. I don't do it everytime, but when I foam roll right before I run I feel great. If you've never done it before, it kinda hurts to do it. But the more you do it the easier it gets.

Dehydration and when to go to the hospital

You gotta love our health care system. -
Yes...we are all kinda learning as we go along here. Nothing like ON THE JOB training.

I was thinking of adding some of these to my green shake. Do they sell them everywhere? Or only healthy stores, cause out here in the boonies, the "health food" section at the local grocery is pretty slim.

High Protein Quest Bars
Butterthebean replied to dfhgsdfgadf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the chocolate peanut butter. The quest bars are the only ones I eat. They have the fewest net carbs and most protein....although I'm leary of eating them regularly. I just think there are better ways of getting in one's protein. But they are convenient and easy to carry...great for a long hiking trip or to stash in the car just in case. I will say, they need 20 seconds in the microwave or 2 hours on the dashboard on a hot day before you eat them. Just room temp they can be kinda....firm. -

We're both trying to find as many posts as we can that don't start with "stall" or "hair loss" or "I hate my sleeve." -
protein shots?
Butterthebean replied to michelleooo513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry y'all...but whether they taste good or not is irrelevant. They are of no nutritional value to you. The collagen protein will not be absorbed and you will not receive the protein your muscles need to prevent a catabolic state...meaning your body will burn your muscles for fuel. You need high quality, fast absorbing protein to prevent this. Whey is the best, fast absorbing protein you'll find. Collagen is of no use.
