-
Im really feeling great! Glad ur appt went well. I have my first one tomorrow. Im not having any pain and about the most bothersome thing is itching where steristrips were. It does seem to be going quickly! I am ready to chew something instead of just drink though lol

Have you or someone you know attempted to eat solid food prematurely?
Trac75 replied to Drewsky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second that DebHart71. When we post something, we need support. Not to be told we're idiots. -

Well I for one am on here because obviously I have no willpower or else I wouldn't be fat! I was banded a week ago and was also a cash pay patient. I've had to eat out three times this week due to my job. I'm in sales and had to take people to lunch. I did have a few solids that I chewed until they slid down my throat! I have my first appt w my Dr Tuesday and will be truthful with him. I know it will be completely my fault if there is a problem, but I'm a food addict...hence the friggin band. I would imagine there is a little room for error and/or cheating, but everyones body is different. mean we all have a bad relationship with food that we are trying to change. Best of luck to all! -
Ive been so sick of liquids, but not having many calories when I do eat. Ive had to eat out a bunch lately due to my job but have just chewed until its mush. Im praying its all ok and pouch hasnt stretched or anything crazy. Go to Dr Tues so we'll see. I think Ive done well when I do eat, but havent tried much since Im not really supposed to be "eating".

Well I'm only a week post op but the health food store sold me catnip leaf/fennel seed extract and said this should help. Said fennel seed tea helps but they were out. Hasn't helped yet but I just tried it for the first time this afternoon. -
No Sushi? What foods have you had to give up after the Band?
Trac75 replied to SkinnyMiniMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Dray1873! Not tmi, but good info! I was concerned how to know and wasnt sure if anything would go down around it or if it was all "stuck". I made the horrible mistake of a bite of a breadstick with my soup and dont think it'll ever appeal to me again. Ive been so bloated ever since...stupid I know but I guess Im hard headed. Wont cheat at all on the liquid, too much at stake. -

This is probably a silly question, but I'm a newbie: what does it mean it "gets stuck" and how do u know something is stuck. I'm just 6 days out, how do I know if the pouch stretched? I'm having awful gas pains, but feel like I can gulp down water and have to make myself drink slow. -
Four days post op and first day back at work...nauseous the entire day. Wish Id taken more time off. Read about "green" smoothies and all the nutrition in them when u add spinach or avacado to a shake. Tried it today and added spinach to potato soup I thinned out and ran through food processor, oh and added scoop of unflavored protein too, and it was amazing! Just tasted like potato soup and I got full and tons of protein and nutrition! Port incision still sore and Im weak, but all in all, not too rough being on my feet most of the day.

Post surgery not what I expected
Trac75 replied to EddieDC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some thinned/pureed egg drop soup today for lunch and felt satisfied. Creamy potato soup for dinner and added protein powder. Finally getting the idea behind this post op liquid diet. Thanks for the help Tracy -
Post surgery not what I expected
Trac75 replied to EddieDC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 10/28 and I'm starving! Horrible gas pains in my shoulder that I thought would be gone by now. 100.4 temp last night, but I feel better today...just hungry! Don't know if I'm gonna make it with pure liquids for two weeks, why can't we start mushies sooner? I'd kill for some mashed potatoes! -
Hi all. I was banded yesterday 10/28, and getting around very well but hurting more than Id anticipated. Clear liquids til 11/11 then on to mushies. I dry heaved a lot when I woke up in recovery so Im sure that has contributed to my pain. Get to shower tomorrow, yay!

Any being banded Friday?
Trac75 replied to Kellysue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine's Friday too. I lost 9 lbs and weighed today and gained two! What the? I called Dr and she said it's from the lactose in the shakes since I'm lactose intolerant. Um would've been a good heads up since it "lactose" isn't an ingredient on the can! Lol they didn't seem very concerned though. -

Please HELP! Surgery this week and no support!
Trac75 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fortunately, I carry my weight very well so my family doesn't understand how a surgeon would even band me. I've had 3 back surgeries and have horrible reflux and have asthma. I've lost the same 50lbs fifteen times. My mom and sister haven't experienced weight problems until about 10 years ago, vs my whole life...I'm 36. I'm having a very hard time. They don't even want to discuss it, won't watch the video, and say I'm not going to be ant fun to eat with. I've cried off and on all day and am really stressing out. I'm on the pre op diet and just want to say screw it and eat. I'm thinking "shouldn't I be able to eat all I want right before surgery?" especially since I'm paying out of pocket! I know bad attitude...but I'm stressing! -
Need Help with Preop liquid diet

Oh and by the way, my dr said absolutely no to broth. It's too high in sodium and will make u retain water and not shrink ur liver. -
Need Help with Preop liquid diet
Trac75 replied to BigRush's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My prep diet for the first 4 days was 3 slim fast, 1 protein shake, unlimited sugar free jello and zero cal drinks. After the third day I could have three shakes and one small salad with fat free dressing. It's been brutal! Im scheduled for Fri. -
Hi October bandsters! I get banded Fri the 28th. I slipped up a little on the liquid prep diet! I lost 7 lbs but ate a couple times. I'm totally committed now though. Had a rough patch w family and went back to my trusty friend...food. Back on track and ready now! Thankful for this forum.

So mad at my nutritionist!
Trac75 replied to Kellysue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kellysue, Only prep diet I can only have two slim fast, 1 protein shake, and a small salad a day so I can't imagine them freaking out about u not being able to eat. I was starving at the beginning, but totally fine now. I had lost 7 lbs by last Thurs and my surgery is next Fri and they said nothing about more weight loss. I bet you'll be just fine and that they'll do it. Good luck. I'll be seeing u on here! -
