I've always been big boned girl, and I used to look good about 170 pounds, that's where I was most comfortable at. I started gaining weight fter I got pregnant with my first baby. In January of 2007 I weighed 200 pounds, and went up to 255 when I had my son in October 2007. I lost a few pounds, and got pregnant 6 months later. Went up to 275, lost a little, and got pregnant again a few months later again. Yes, I had 3 babies in just about 3 years, with litle recovery time in between. So I'm up 70 pounds from where I was and 100 pounds from where I'd like to be. I've tried everything to lose the weight Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, The Flat Belly Diet, you name it. Weight Watchers has always worked the best for me, but my last go around didn't go so well. I only lost 8 pounds after 4 months!
I recently went to the doctor because I was having problems with my ankles hurting after work and in the morning. She was concerned that it could have been arthritis, but was most likely due to the excess weight I was carrying around. I am 26, and way to young to be worried about arthritis! My doctor recommended some Kaiser weight loss programs, and then signed me up for the Gastric overview class.
So this is where I'm at, waiting for my first class. And even though it's just an info class, I'm really nervous. Getting the surgery could mean a lot for me. I have 3 little boys I want to be healthy for. I don't want to be the fat mom! I have to say, if I get the surgery and lost the weight, I think I'm most afraid of what I'm going to look like afterwards. I know it's better to weigh less, but what happens with all the skin? It makes me really nervous, that I'm not going to look good because of the excess skin..
