Anyone From Massachusetts That's Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
Sandy123 replied to Sandy123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, Well, first of all congratulations. You are definately at the right place to go for any questions you have about VSG. Pre op all I did was read about it, talk to people who had wls, and watched every YouTube video I could find. I think the best thing was how prepared I was and how much I wanted to do it. There was no doubt, so I never got the blues after. The pre op diet sucked. I did 2 weeks which is hard because your hungry and you want to have "food funerals" but I was so afraid they would cancel the surgery that I did well and lost 12lbs. The surgery went great. The first day your just exhausted because of the anesthesia but you need to walk because the gas pain is pretty bad. After they took the catheter out I got up and walked during the night because there was less people around. Once they took the iv's out and the drain they put in one of the incision it was much more comfortable to move. Seriously, I had the surgery on a Tuesday came home on Thursday and on Friday went to the grocery store with my hubby. I walked slow and didn't lift anything but I was out. We went to target on Saturday, Monday I was cleaning my house and on Wednesday I went back to the gym to walk slowly on the treadmill. My surgery was on Nov 1, and so far from before preop I have lost 52lbs. I wish I had done this years ago. It amazes me that I can eat whatever I want just in very small amounts and lose weight. I do alot of Protein and I work out 5 days a week and I feel great. You will be VERY happy. If you want to friend me on Facebook, I am part of a group of women who are in all stages of the surgery. Pre thru years. It's a great group and I can add you if you want. Good luck. You will definately not regret it!!! My Facebook name is Sandra jean wood Williams. -

what is wrong with me??????
Sandy123 replied to Jo Jo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say that doing this was the greatest thing ( besides having my children) that I have ever done. 4 weeks out and I have to remind myself that I had a surgery. It really was an easy process, in fact I was out shopping the day after I got out. I would do it again in a heart beat. Don't beat yourself up, do what you feel is right. You won't regret it. I certainly don't. -
Hey everyone, glad to see your all doing good. I've been losing somewhat slowly but still averaging 5lbs a week. So that makes me very happy.

Just had my 2 week follow up with my NUT and I'm officially on mushy foods even though I have been sneaking them in for the past few day. Good because I am really sick of protein drinks. But I think I'm having a stall already because I am only losing .5 lbs a day. I think my stupid body likes the fat !!!! Maybe once I eat a bit more real food it will jump into action. I'm back to the gym though so hopefully that will help too. Good luck to everyone coming up to their sleeve time.

I had Dr Andras Sandor from commonwealth surgical in Stoneham. He did it at Lawrence memorial hospital or winchester hospital and he was fantastic. Perfect track record and not even 2 weeks out and I feel amazing. I couldn't speak more highly of him and his collegues. Go to www.commonwealthsurgical.com to get more info but he is awesome !!!!!

I'm a week out and had a great experience. Love this site and all the wonderful "friends I've met here. Good luck and considers us all your sleeve sisters !!! -
I'm in Boston, so I went to a hospital in Medford. My surgeon is an expert in his field. I saw him for staple removal yesterday and today I am down 9 lbs since the surgery and went back to the gym to walk the treadmill this morning. Feeling great. I'm down 21.5 in 3 weeks. I can't believe it. I am so happy and psyched to weigh myself again tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else!!! Hope it goes as smoothly as I know it can.

Started Pre Op Liquid diet today and I NEED support
Sandy123 replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you have vegetables? I cut carrots up and dipped them in salsa, pretending they were chips. I drank alot of broth and sf jello. Good luck. The first few days suck but once the scale starts moving down, you will get so much motivation. Eye on the prize, my friend. You can do it!!!! Good luck -

The 1st Day Of My Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey
Sandy123 replied to GetInMyBelly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just wanted to tell you my story because it really has been a good journey. I am 1 week post op and I am feeling great. I was lucky in that I never really got too nauseous and never vomited. I have been able to tolerate my proteins and the pain was no where near as bad as I expected. All in all, it has been a great experience which I would recommend to anyone. I went in prepared and totally ready to take on this new life. I regret nothing except not doing it years ago. I know it is scary but let me tell you, there isn't anything to be afraid off. I think the preop diet was the worst. It is awesome getting on the scale and see the gauge going down. I've lost 12 pre op and 7 since the surgery. I can't wait to get on it again tomorrow. So just keep your eyes on the prize and have a positive attitude and you will be very happy you did this too !!! -
Haven't heard from any banana babes lately. How is everyone doing with their sleeves???
-
I can't believe it is finally here! Tomorrow morning at 6:00am I will getting my relaxing meds and getting my sleeve at 7:30. All the hours of reading everyone's posts and waiting for my turn to come is finally here. So its liquid only day... That's gonna be a tough one. It also stinks that it's Halloween and I have to take my 11 year old trick or treating without raiding the candy bag!!! Gotta get myself to bed early and keep busy during the day to keep my mind off of it. Not bringing an Internet device to the hospital so I can't update from there but as soon as I get home I will tell the story of my success. see y'all in a few days. Say a prayer and wish me luck.

Ok. Here is my first challenge and I'm only 4 days out. SN: Sandy123. SW 267. GW 250 weight lost by Christmas 17lbs
-
Well, I am 4 days out and feeling ok. I don't think it was as bad as I expected. I've had 4 other abdominal surgeries and this was by far the easiest. I think I was very positive going in, knowing that I wanted this so much. The only time I got nervous was the few minutes before they injected the relaxing meds when the plebotomist couldn't find my vein and it hurt like hell. Worse than all the injections and iv's that were inserted. But after that, I think the worse was being so tired and weak after that I just couldn't stay awake. I didn't walk because I thought I would fall asleep standing up. I ended up getting up to use the bathroom and walking the halls for 45 min at 1:30am the 2nd day. It was quiet and I couldn't sleep anyways. The leak test went fine, just happy that it was good. By the time thursday rolled around I was lonely and bored and couldn't wait to get in my own bed. It was hard sleeping in the hospital, I ended up sleeping in the recliner so I could get the gas up. Since I've been home, I've been following the protocol, if I sip too much I get a little pain but not bad. Still having trouble sleeping, my back hurts from sleeping on it but it won't be long. So all in all, it was a good experience. I haven't lost any weight from my pre op weight, I know it will happen eventually. I'm not eating real food, so I guess it has to come off eventually. I hop all other November sleevers have a good experience too!!! Good luck to all.

Getting sleeved tomorrow morning
Sandy123 replied to Sandy123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Phyllis, as usual you make me feel better and not alone. I was also told it was gas pains and then I walk around a bit and start burping then they go away. I am sipping away at my protein and broths, I like the warm stuff. I have been having a sf pudding and that also seems to satisfy my feelings. Thanks for the support and I know it will all work out. I'm sure everyone feels that after years of trying every diet and failing that this will be the same, but really, it can't be. It will work. I just have to give it time. -
Not so much gurgling, but I swear I'm feeling hunger pains. What's up with that? I am 3 days out. Just drinking my proteins and broth with a pudding thrown in for substance.

Getting sleeved tomorrow morning
Sandy123 replied to Sandy123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I got it done and so far I feel really good. The pain isn't as bad as I expected, and neither is eating. I swear I still feel hunger pains and feel like I could eat. Which I know I can't but, I feel like I could try. I'm not nauseous or dizzy, just gassy. The first 2 days I was tired but today I went to 2 stores with hubby and did some errands. So I guess it was a success I just want to start losing weight. I haven't lost anything since 12.5 lb preop diet, but all I've had since coming home last night was 2 protein drinks, 1 cup broth, a small applesauce to take my pills in and a pudding. I will have more protein later. Gotta lose weight on that, right??? -
So a few pics finally . . .
