  2. Hi, Well, first of all congratulations. You are definately at the right place to go for any questions you have about VSG. Pre op all I did was read about it, talk to people who had wls, and watched every YouTube video I could find. I think the best thing was how prepared I was and how much I wanted to do it. There was no doubt, so I never got the blues after. The pre op diet sucked. I did 2 weeks which is hard because your hungry and you want to have "food funerals" but I was so afraid they would cancel the surgery that I did well and lost 12lbs. The surgery went great. The first day your just exhausted because of the anesthesia but you need to walk because the gas pain is pretty bad. After they took the catheter out I got up and walked during the night because there was less people around. Once they took the iv's out and the drain they put in one of the incision it was much more comfortable to move. Seriously, I had the surgery on a Tuesday came home on Thursday and on Friday went to the grocery store with my hubby. I walked slow and didn't lift anything but I was out. We went to target on Saturday, Monday I was cleaning my house and on Wednesday I went back to the gym to walk slowly on the treadmill. My surgery was on Nov 1, and so far from before preop I have lost 52lbs. I wish I had done this years ago. It amazes me that I can eat whatever I want just in very small amounts and lose weight. I do alot of Protein and I work out 5 days a week and I feel great. You will be VERY happy. If you want to friend me on Facebook, I am part of a group of women who are in all stages of the surgery. Pre thru years. It's a great group and I can add you if you want. Good luck. You will definately not regret it!!! My Facebook name is Sandra jean wood Williams.
  3. I have to say that doing this was the greatest thing ( besides having my children) that I have ever done. 4 weeks out and I have to remind myself that I had a surgery. It really was an easy process, in fact I was out shopping the day after I got out. I would do it again in a heart beat. Don't beat yourself up, do what you feel is right. You won't regret it. I certainly don't.

Hey everyone, glad to see your all doing good. I've been losing somewhat slowly but still averaging 5lbs a week. So that makes me very happy.

    Banana Babes

Just had my 2 week follow up with my NUT and I'm officially on mushy foods even though I have been sneaking them in for the past few day. Good because I am really sick of protein drinks. But I think I'm having a stall already because I am only losing .5 lbs a day. I think my stupid body likes the fat !!!! Maybe once I eat a bit more real food it will jump into action. I'm back to the gym though so hopefully that will help too. Good luck to everyone coming up to their sleeve time.

    VSG Surgeons in Boston

I had Dr Andras Sandor from commonwealth surgical in Stoneham. He did it at Lawrence memorial hospital or winchester hospital and he was fantastic. Perfect track record and not even 2 weeks out and I feel amazing. I couldn't speak more highly of him and his collegues. Go to www.commonwealthsurgical.com to get more info but he is awesome !!!!!

    Banana Babes

I'm in Boston, so I went to a hospital in Medford. My surgeon is an expert in his field. I saw him for staple removal yesterday and today I am down 9 lbs since the surgery and went back to the gym to walk the treadmill this morning. Feeling great. I'm down 21.5 in 3 weeks. I can't believe it. I am so happy and psyched to weigh myself again tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else!!! Hope it goes as smoothly as I know it can.
  10. Can you have vegetables? I cut carrots up and dipped them in salsa, pretending they were chips. I drank alot of broth and sf jello. Good luck. The first few days suck but once the scale starts moving down, you will get so much motivation. Eye on the prize, my friend. You can do it!!!! Good luck
  11. Wow, that's fantastic. I was sleeved the day before you and I'm feeling great too. Not on mushy foods yet, I'm jealous!!! But next week I will be!!!
  12. I worked like crazy to lose weight for my pre op diet and then never got weighed in before the surgery. So I wouldnt worry about it.
  13. Just wanted to tell you my story because it really has been a good journey. I am 1 week post op and I am feeling great. I was lucky in that I never really got too nauseous and never vomited. I have been able to tolerate my proteins and the pain was no where near as bad as I expected. All in all, it has been a great experience which I would recommend to anyone. I went in prepared and totally ready to take on this new life. I regret nothing except not doing it years ago. I know it is scary but let me tell you, there isn't anything to be afraid off. I think the preop diet was the worst. It is awesome getting on the scale and see the gauge going down. I've lost 12 pre op and 7 since the surgery. I can't wait to get on it again tomorrow. So just keep your eyes on the prize and have a positive attitude and you will be very happy you did this too !!!
