Pre Gastric Sleeve Op Liquid Diet: 13 Days To Go. Why Do I Have To Do It For So Long?
Sandy123 replied to Torrid's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I am also doing the 2 week pre-op diet to get sleeved on Nov 1st. Mine was very strict. 5 protein drinks, 1 cup broth, 3 fruits, 3 vegatables, and SF jello. And LOTS of water. The first few days really sucked, but I was losing weight every day. In a week I lost 8lbs. Now I am in the home stretch, but I gotta tell you, it's harder for me. I have been going to the gym, working out really hard 2x a day, almost every day, so I am burning those little calories up and I AM HUNGRY. I have been sneaky a little babybel cheese in the afternoon and sometimes just a small bite of whatever I am making the family for dinner. Not much, and I am trying to make sure that it isn't full of carbs. I also made soup with vegatable broth and a whole pile of veggies, and just ate that for dinner. I also dipped carrots in salsa as a quick snack. But luckily, I only have 2 more days, then only protein drinks on Monday then I head to the hospital for the big day on Tuesday. I hope I did well enough on these past 2 weeks to be able to have an easy surgery. Good luck and hopefully all will be well with you!! -

Any Boston, Ma Gastric Sleevers Out There?
Sandy123 replied to Tarada9's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm from Somerville and am getting sleeved on Nov 1 with Dr Sandor at Lawrence memorial hospital in Medford. I have heard great things about him, I hope I am another of his success stories. -
Well, I am set for Nov 1. I can't believe that its finally here, just 5 days away. Starting to get a little nervous but excited at the same time. I have been planning this since May 3 so I guess it really hasn't been too long considering the wait time was over a year when they began doing these surgeries. Is anyone else nervous about what the future holds for our sleeves?? I just hope I lose the weight and feel as good as I expect to. I just want to be happy and like the way I look again. I've been fat for way too long. Good luck to all the banana babes!!!

Yay. It's almost here!!! 5 days left. If I can live thru this last week of starvation than I can survive anything.

Hi, I am due for me sleeve on Nov 1. Due to a pulmonary embolism 5 years ago my dr is having one of his colleagues put an IVC filter in right before he works his magic. Does anyone out there have one?? I was wondering if you can feel it or have any discomfort from it. Thanks to all you fabulous people out. I can't tell you what a great source of support you've been these past few months

Anyone have an IVC filter
Sandy123 replied to Sandy123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 48 and luckily they are putting the filter in at the same te as the surgery. One dr will put it in then my VSG surgeon will work his magic. It is supposed to be a temporary filter and will be removed 6 or so weeks later. If by chance it is slanted and they can't catch the hook to remove it then he will leave it in. I don't think I am nervous about it just because I won't be conscious but I am worried about another hospital stay for the removal. But thanks for the imput, it is nice to know I am not the only one who has these issues. -
Thanks girls for all the well wishes. Well, my story is; I am 48 years old, married and mom to 2 beautiful girls age 11 & 14. I have been dieting since I was 6 years old. My mom was heavier and obsessed with weight, so she always had a new fad diet to try. I have gained and lost probably 3 people in my lifetime. Last big weightloss was when I got married 15 years ago. I lost 80 lbs dieting and exercising but gained it all back and some when I got pregnant. Back in 2006 my intestine ruptured and I needed to have an emergency colostomy. Luckily I only had to have the "bag" for 9 months. Then I got pulmonary embolisms, and 2 hernias (both surgically fixed). So since then I joined a gym and I work out with cardio and weight training 4+ times a week. I can't even buy a 1 lb weightloss. I've given up coffee, carbs, potatoes, sweets, chips, you name it. Nothing helps. So I am hoping the sleeve will finally be the answer for me. My husband is a great guy, but not really supportive of me getting this surgery. He loves me the way I am....but I don't. He loves to eat but I want to be thin and healthy. My mom isn't really supportive either but she just doesn't understand this whole procedure and how it can help. Thank God for this forum to get the support I desperately need, especially this week. Thank you all for listening and caring. Now here is my question. Since I have had the mesh put in where the hernias were, what will happen when I lose weight in that area ?? Will I lose weight there?? God I hope so. Just afraid it will show. I'm sorry but I'm just getting nervous since I am less than a week away from surgery. Does anyone have any thoughts or info about this??? Thanks for listening. (

Hey girls. I'm set for my sleeve on Nov 1. I have been on a strict liquid diet since the 18th and boy it's been tough. Proteins, broth, fruits, vegetables and sf jello. First few days sucked but a week tomorrow and ive lost 8.5 lbs already. But, did I mention it's hard? Especially since I have little to no support and my family still has to eat and I'm the one cooking for them. But..... 1 week to go. Hopefully I can make it. We all can!!! Looks like we are all in this together!!! Go us!!!!

Thanks for adding the link. -
Hi, good luck!! I'm doing the liquid diet now for surgery on Nov 1. I have been using UNJURY protein. They come in great flavors... Even one that tastes like chicken soup. There unflavored works good and really doesn't have a bad taste. I put it in my sugar free jello. The only thing you need to remember is not for it to go over 130 degrees. IOC the hot water and then mix the unflavored in the cold water, then mix together. But they are fairly inexpensive and it's really quick shipping. They also have the nicest customer service people, helpful and accommodating. Good luck. Keep us posted on your progress!!

I'm a newbie here also and am getting sleeved on November 1. This forum is wonderful. I have posted 2 questions and right away I got the most amazing responses from some very supportive people. This is a great source of information, encouragement and support. Good luck. I look forward to hearing more about your success!!

I am scheduled for Nov 1 and started my pre op diet on the 18th. I won't lie, the first few days really sucks!! It's hard because your hungry and you basically quit food cold turkey... Sorry for the pun. But I am now 5 days in and it was alot easier today. I am eating my jello and last protein shake of the day as I type. Just remember it will be worth it in the end. I've lost 8 lbs in 5 days so that has given me incentive too !!! Good luck and keep your eye on the prize. By January we will be shopping for new clothes and feeling great about ourselves.

OMG..13 days till surgery and I am changing my mind
Sandy123 replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am getting my sleeve on Nov 1 and even though I sometimes feel like I should not go thru with it. I am so ready to lose this weight once and for all. I also felt I could do it on my own but how many years have you been trying that?? Way too many!!!! If you made a commitment to do it then obviously you felt that it was what you wanted. I don't think you or I will regret it. Please read thru all of these different posts because you will hear some amazing stories that will give you more confidence in getting it done. Good luck!!! -
Can anyone tell me how bad the sagging skin is after weightless?? I work out ALOT so I'm hoping there is muscle under the fat. Anyone have any imput on this??
-
I can only hope I lose like that!!! I know the feeling... My husband never dated heavy girls and for years he wanted me thin but I just think he's forgotten how good I looked all those years ago. We've been together 21 years and was plump when we met but no where near as big as I am now. I'm glad you are still working out and taking care of yourself, I love working out and plan to continue since I need it for my mental health also. I cant imagine getting too thin, because I really don't want things to sag to much. I'm hoping all the weight training will pay off on the long run. And your right, he is a good guy and he loves me so I'm sure things will work out. I just wish he wouldn't add more stress to this stressful time.
