    My Experience

Good to hear that your experience has been a good one. It's interesting what each doctor requires. I didn't have an overnight hospital stay and didn't have a catheter. I'm thankful for both. The barium swallow wasn't bad at all. I was expecting it to taste gross but it was tasteless to me.
  3. I'm looking forward to using my elliptical next month. I hope I don't have that problem.
  4. I had surgery on 11/11/11 with a hernia repair. The only pain that I felt was from my port area.

Yum! I'm going to look for those teas.
  6. I had surgery on 11/11/11. My port pain is tolerable now - thank goodness. According to my doctor, it will take 4-6 weeks for that area to heal.

    Nsv...yay!

    Congratulations! It's a wonderful feeling.
  8. My three week pre-op diet consisted of: Breakfast: Muscle Milk Light Protein shake Lunch: Muscle Milk Light Protein Shake Snack: 1/2 cup Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt (I was also allowed sugar free pudding and sugar free Jello. I disliked the taste of both so I stuck with yogurt.) Dinner: 1 cup of broth based Soup. Beverage: 64 ounces of lemon flavored ice Water The first week was hard but my body adjusted so I was a happy camper. I lost 23 pounds on the diet.

  11. I lost 23 pounds on the pre op diet.
  12. I've lost 33 pounds. My Mom noticed my weight loss by how baggy my jeans are. It feels good to have lost that much weight.
  13. Good to know that I can warm it up. Thanks!
  14. The PA from my doctor's office wants me to drink warm liquids.
  15. I was curious about how long I should expect my port pain to last and my doctor said 4 to 6 weeks. Hope that helps.
  16. I can relate to what you are experiencing. I've had chest pains for the last two days that have been extremely unbearable and have made me cry. I called my doctor's office this afternoon and spoke with the PA and she said that it's esophageal spasms. She recommended that what I consume be warm and that sipping with a straw will also help to prevent it.

    November Bandsters!!!

I was banded yesterday afternoon. The surgery went well but my doctor had to repair a hiatal hernia. I'm experiencing pain in my shoulder and where my port is located. The pain should subside by Tuesday according to my doctor. I'm on a liquid diet for 48 hours and then I can switch over to applesauce, pureed soup, malt o meal, vegetable juice, protein shake, Popsicle, yogurt, juices, and of course water.
  18. Good Morning! Today's the day. I'm feeling good but I know that when I step foot in the hospital, I will be nervous. I've lost a total of 23 pounds since I started my pre-op diet so I hope that what I lost shrunk my liver enough. Wish me luck. Aria
  19. My doctor ordered me to be on a 3 week pre-op diet. This Friday, my surgery day, will mark the end of my 3 weeks. Dinner: 1 cup of broth based Soup Water: 64 ounces/day I was miserable the first week of my diet but my body has adjusted to it so I'm a happy camper. I've lost a total of 21 pounds.

    preop diet questions

Hi! I started my three week pre-op diet on October 21st. Breakfast: Protein shake Lunch: Protein Shake Snack: 1/2 cup Yogurt Dinner: 1 cup Soup Water: 64 ounces I consume the above everyday. I can substitute the sugar free yogurt for sugar free Gelatin or sugar free pudding. I mostly eat sugar free yogurt for snack because it's what I enjoy the most. I can have other beverages but I'd rather drink Water. I give my water flavor by adding either lemon juice or MIO Liquid Water Enhancer. I've lost a total of 11 pounds in one week. Looking forward to losing more.
  22. I started my pre-op diet today. So far I have drank two chocolate Protein shakes - one with banana and the other with Peanut Butter. I am allowed one low fat - low sugar snack of pudding, yogurt, or Gelatin. For dinner, I will eat 1 cup of broth based Soup. I'm looking forward to the soup. It's my first day and I'm miserable but I'm determined to stick with it because in the end it will be worth it.
