  1. Great job!...Our starting weight and goal weight are roughly the same! Yes, I realize that I'm a guy but I am always on the lookout for folks with similar stats. If you don't mind my asking, have you had any skin issues... As I am overweight (considerably at the 280's) my surgery is Monday and my only concern is flab. My target weight is 175 (that's what I should weigh according to all the guides) I have NO stretch marks (I don't know how I got so lucky) I am hoping I will "snap back" for the most part. I understand this is a personal issue but it would be greatly appreciated if you could share. Thanks in advance (I'm so jealous )
  2. July 2nd right here... Are you anxious?, Nervous? I'm getting quite a bit of both...

I am only gonna take two days off for my banding, no choice really as I'm almost out of leave because of a family emergency...hope it's enough :-/
  4. My doctor said that he will "aggressively" fill my ban at surgery (July 2) and most of his patients do not normally need additional fills. I like the sound of that!
  5. me too, july 2... Excited? Nervous? (me too)
  6. Completed Pre-Op appointment yesterday... Doc said NO pre-op Diet and he does an agressive fill at time of surgery, most of his his patients do NOT require a fill for a while

  7. Pre-op Day Tomorrow! (yikes)

  8. Ok so here is my question... Anyone have any info on sodium intake post/pre-op. Isn't Crystal Light and the like full of sodium?? Doesn't sodium essentially dehydrate you? I'm not much of a straight water drinking person so this would be adjustment I guess I would have to make but somebody gimme an out, a substitute or tell me I'm nuts!! I wanna do this right... ( I hope I'm just nuts )

Blue Cross And Blue Shields Of Nj

From what I have been told, when you have BCBS they wait until the last minute to submit you because they (BCBS) never denies. That is what the admin at my surgeons office told me... I called and asked them to submit my claim immediately (because I was nervous also) and they nicely did, then called me two days later to tell me I am approved! Call the admin of you surgeons office and set you mind at ease. Now all I gotta do is show up, lay down take a few deep breaths & wake up & start living!
  10. So burping means you are possibly hungry & hiccups mean you are full?? My surgery is coming up July 2nd and I wanna be sure to know... Ya know.., the signs beforehand. A little "freaked" already so the more info the better.

    New Member, Nervous

I'm getting banded on July 2nd and although I'm ready, I'm getting a tiny bit nervous... These boards are amazing and give a real world aspect to the journey that the "documentation" lacks. I can't wait but at the same time I can't wait for it to be over... You are among friends, trust me. WE know.

  19. Anyone have experience with State Workers BCBS plan of North Carolina? I have a BMI of 38.5 with co-morbidities of elevated cholesterol, asthma, and extensive family history of heart disease. Am I dreaming that I will get approved? God I really hope not
  20. I have recently decided to look into the lap band procedure. I am not critically overweight but have been overweight my entire life. I am looking at the lapband as a tool towards my goal. I currently weigh 260 (approx) and am 5'10" and am hoping to lose the "2--" once and for all I have a family history rotten with heart disease, and most of my family on both sides suffers or suffered with serious vascular, cardiac disease etc. Needless to say these outcomes do not interest me. I am interested in this procedure specifically because of it's adaptability and the less invasive surgery.
  21. Hi! From your weight loss graph it seems like you started at the same BMI as I am currently (40ish) and there fore are looking at a similar loss to meet our goal. Was it difficult to get approval without being severely or morbidly obese from the start? Do you have any co-morbidity issues? Just curious is all. I am currently at aprox 265lbe and my goal is 175ish. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Sounds like you are doing great! Keep it up. What has your weight loss rate been roughly? Thanks for your response
