1. Happy 36th Birthday medicgipson!

2. Hi all! I am six weeks post VSG and everything is going well! My only issue is I have had a sudden onset of what I am assuming is restless leg syndrome. Every night when I go to bed it takes me hours to fall asleep because of the extremely uncomforable urge to move my legs. I can be completely exhausted, and the urge is still there keeping me awake!! I am wondering if this is related to my surgery. Maybe the increase in my metabolism or something. Anyone else experienced this??
3. I was discussing my surgery with a WLS nurse the other day and she was telling me that it is quite common for people to develop new addictions to replace their food addictions. Some people turn to unhealthy addictions: drugs, sex, etc.. I want to get some ideas of new areas to focus my attention (other than fitness). I don't think I will ever be addicted to exercize (although I suffer through what I need to). So what have all of you turned to????

Dr. Oz On Hair Loss

I'm so glad you posted this, I have trouble with hair loss anyway (i have hypothyroidism), and I just had my surgery four weeks ago. So, I was getting worried that it might get even worse. I will look for some tomorrow!
<img border="0" src="

Protein Drinks...yuck

I have tried several of the protein drinks and had almost given up on finding on that I like. Then, somewhere else in this forum, I saw someone mention Nu-tek Pro5. I looked it up and found a nutrition store that sells it (there is only one in my state). I called the store and they were so super nice and knowledgeable. They mailed me a big bag of like eight samples along with a free shaker bottle!!! It was just a gut instinct when I read about this stuff, but I knew I would like it. And I was right!! I have loved every flavor I have tried! They also have a Nu-Tek Pro 5 HERS which says it also has added vitamins for hair, skin and nail health (it only comes in choc and vanilla though) but it is delicious! Worth a try! Hope this helps.
6. Surgery this morning. Prayers for myself and the others starting their journey with me today! <3

8. Also, what kind of anti-depressant were you taking? I recently changed from cybalta to wellbutrin and the cymbalta withdrawal was torture. The dizziness was awful!
9. My surgery is tomorrow. I know it is normal to be really nervous, but I just needed to talk it out. My biggest worry is pain. I have never done well with pain medications in the past. They always seemed to cause so much nausea that it was worse than the pain. I have only taken pain medications (anything stronger than a advil) only two or three times in my life. So, I need to mentally prepare myself for what to expect. I want to know exactly how much pain you all experienced. And please don't hold back, I need to be prepared. That is just how I work. Thank You!!

Sleeve VS Band

I am in your EXACT shoes!! I had been researching the band diligently, and even spend hours in the lap band forums. This was before i attended my first weight loss seminar. After that I was pretty convinced that VSG is the way to go. My biggest concern right now is insurance. It covers the band, but I don't know if it covers the sleeve yet. My first appt is thursday. I CANT WAIT!!! I don't know what I will do if I get bad news! Keep us updated in your pursuit!
13. Hi,

I am also making the decision between LB or VSG and doing a lot of research. After being in the LB chat room for 3 weeks now, I have noticed that there are a lot of dr. visits to fill or unfill because of discomfort, or not losing, food getting stuck, emergency surgery because the band slipped etc. I became frustrated that there was never anyone in the VSG room to talk to about the sle...

14. Hi, I just attended my first weight loss surgery seminar last night. I went into it covinced that I wanted the band, but after listening to the presentation, I am wondering if the sleeve is not a better choice. So to all of you that have made this choice before me....what made you pick the sleeve?
15. Ok, so tonight I attended my first weight loss surgery seminar. I went into it with my mind made up that I wanted the Lap-Band. But after listening to the lecture, I am now wondering if the sleeve gastrectomy would be a better option. It seems to have a higher success rate (as far as weight lost and keeping it off) and according to the surgeon, less hunger. Has anyone else researched this and compared it to the lap-band? If so, why did you decide to go with the band? Help me sort through this!
